Tsss hey boy tsss, wanna see some .50 cal?

THIS, for braking I was using a hat first, but having an axis makes things a lot easier. I have mapped both toe brakes, because I am used to push the brakes of the same side I am pushing the rudder to.

ED stated Q1, I think that we may get the pre-order with the Channel Map one (confirmed for early February) and release at the end of March. Also, I am pretty much sure that they said the P47 will release as a finished product.
-
New lighting, new damage model for warbirds... of course all is subject to change but that’s what’s expected.
-
ED stated in a newsletter that the pre-order would be available along with the Channel map and both products should be available in Q1. The pre-order I believe was planned for the end of January. I can't find the quote but I recall that. So I wouldn't be surprised if we could pre-order today. EDIT: "DCS: The Channel Map will be available for pre-order with a 30% discount in early February 2020." https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4168367&postcount=233

Is the new damage model for the warbirds to be released with this patch also?
-
Great news! Do you mean that next patch will be 2.5.6? With the new damage model and lighting?
-
Or at least, I think it should be enough to make a FC3 level japanese plane. I think that many of us will settle with that.

If you have a high end graphics card, then you will be CPU limited. This means that lowering graphical options that load work on the GPU will not yield a performance increase due to the CPU being the bottleneck. Other options like Terrain Shadows Flat may yield more performance specially in dense tree areas but as I limit my FPS to 60, I will not see any FPS improvement from lowering graphics. And if you ask yourself why do I limit my FPS having a 1440p, 144 hz, GSYNC monitor, it is because I feel the game smoother if I have stable FPS rather than going to 100 FPS high in the sky and around 52 - 60 when I am low in a dense tree valley. However, I am still trying options in order to find my sweetspot. I will try to unlock frames again today maybe. The PC is in my signature.

Channel is being done directly by ED whereas Normandy was done by Ugra. In the newsletter, it is stated that they are using their last map technologies so I assume that this will include optimisations and better looking terrain (as you can already see in the screenshots).

Thanks for your comment, really useful! However, recently I was trying different graphical setups and I ended up with SSAA x1.5 as it gave me same performance as MSAA x2 and better quality with the rig I have in my signature. The monitor is 1440p 144 hz and I have performance room to spare (I have a limiter to 62 fps as more FPS causes stuttering in TrackIR) specially in the GPU side. Actually the only FPS dips I have are due to CPU bottleneck because DCS only uses 1 core. A bit of offtopic, but one of the most demanding settings is terrain shadows. Changing from Default to Flat yields a lot of performance and I do not notice much worse graphics. I also keep my view distance to High.

+1 This is a basic option for warbirds.

As far as I know, external AA solutions have no effect in DCS with the exception of FXAA.

And perform better I hope :music_whistling:

Great! What does "Trees restored to original visualization" means?

closed Storm of War - DCS WWII / Historical Server
Al-Azraq replied to philstyle's topic in Multiplayer
That's great Phil! Can't wait to try the changes. This server is awesome. -
Great news! Now we need a fitting plane roaster. The Corsair and Zero AI will be a great start.
-
And the new damage model on top of that!

I think this belongs to here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4168478&postcount=1645

FPS limiters and Track-IR performance
Al-Azraq replied to bandit648's topic in Game Performance Bugs
First reports say that the limiter introduced by nVidia works really well. I will try it this afternoon to limit my FPS to 60, I will keep Gsync on and Vsync on and start testing from that. I like how Gsync works usually, but DCS has many frametime fluctuacions that can be mitigated by limiting the FPS. -
FPS limiters and Track-IR performance
Al-Azraq replied to bandit648's topic in Game Performance Bugs
DCS is very CPU bound at the moment as it only uses 2 cores: one for sound, the other one for the rest. This causes that the GPU is on holidays while the CPU makes its thing so it is difficult to see the GPU at 100% as it should be in a well optimised game. This will potentially change with the new Vulkan API that is coming. -
FPS limiters and Track-IR performance
Al-Azraq replied to bandit648's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Honestly, I would forget about Natural Point as it seems that they are not supporting Track IR via software updates anymore. There are several issues to correct, but no updates since 2016 although I hope that this is because they are completely reworking it. I have found out that Default Terrain Shadows option has a great impact when in tree areas in the Caucasus map (which is the more demanding map). In my case, it also dips to 50s and it is quite annoying but it also looks great so I don't know what to do. Lowering to Flat shadows solves it mostly but I am a graphic whore so it causes me itches to lower the option :megalol: -
I thought that S/A was already implemented, that explains some things haha Regarding your doubt, AFT activates selected program, FWD activates program 5 which are 2 flare + 2 chaff if I recall correctly.

FPS bump by disabling GameDVR in Windows 10 via registry
Al-Azraq replied to Mustang's topic in Game Performance Bugs
¿Do you guys know how to revert this? I just want to test my performance between fix/no fix. I applied the fix but did not backup the previous values in the registry. -
Does anyone else have issues with SRS and 144 hz? When I am navigating through the app it feels stuttery and I think it is due the high refresh rate.
