Am not saying they are not but for example would be nice to see AFM's and clickable pits plus a couple more planes in FC for example. However it's quite apparent I'm in the minority and I asked to find out what people thought so am happy I now know.

Kickstarter for FCS4, clickable pits and new aircraft
HansRoaming replied to HansRoaming's topic in DCS Wishlist
I wasn't aware of any issues with the DCS WWII Kickstarter, as a contributor get updates and things seem to be progressing. Not saying that there are no issues, just that am ignorant of any. -
That is what I would want in exchange for a subscription rather than a buy and abandon ware model where the cash flow from new sales makes it uneconomical to update or do something. Not saying ED is doing this but that is one downside of the buy and own model for software vs subscription. The service is ongoing development and fixes.

Kickstarter for FCS4, clickable pits and new aircraft
HansRoaming replied to HansRoaming's topic in DCS Wishlist
Am not sure what are ED's constraints: Exhausted resource pool for developers for DCS / FC Cash constraints Reached point of diminishing returns in size of development team Given that a kickstarter was done for DCS WW2 thought it worth asking if the same could be done for a FC4 and what people thought. -
Some good replies to this thread, for some subscriptions like Eve online everyone is always on the same version. Good point raised for those on low income. For FSX for planes I like I will pre order or pay for open beta access like the M2M Mirage 2000 and the Milviz 732c. I wonder if ED could do a mini kickstarter type pledge system for people to fund the changes they'd like to see, so for me would be clickable pits for flaming cliffs for example.

Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. Being a parent I'm pretty time poor and one of the things I find that rally helps me pick up new jets in FSX is to have a clickable pit as it completely removes the need to try and remember a keyboard mapping to articulate functionality. Whilst I have a HOTAS I would love to be able to have clickabe pits in FC3 so much so that like DCS WWII would put money towards it on Kickstarter. Could be a kickstarter for clickable pits plus maybe a couple of other aircraft into the bunch for balance in FC4? Just wondered if anyone else felt the same?

I buy everything that comes out for DCS, nothing left for me to get. I also have thrown money at the DCS WWII on kickstarter.

My driver for this is where I use SAAS both personally and where I work and the service provider is able to justify constantly evolving their product. With a sales based model then funding for development is down to new sales which in a small niche area like ours am not sure would fund the development of this product I personally would like to see.
-
Given that I would like to see DCS grow fatser and fulfil its potential I personally would like to move to a subscription model if only to give ED a stable cash flow as well as the capital to expand. Wonder what other peoples thoughts on this were.

Please delete as realise this should be in the wishlist.

I was wondering, a joint venture between VRS and ED could give us DCS: F-18E, now how cool would that be?

For me to round out Lockon would be at least one more flyable non Russian multi role plane. Having a pure CAS plane and an Air Superiority fighter as the only western style aircraft is a bit limiting for choice. Having a multi-role aircraft would round out the selection on both sides I think. F-16 - Lots of countries in the area fly these aircraft and also there is cross over attraction for pilots of other sims i.e Falcon 4 series and FSX such as Aerosoft F-16. F-18 - Multirole and carrier ops for the west. Has been modelled before and on other sims i.e. VRS F-18 Superbug on FSX so has attraction factor too. Lots of data available for these as well. The other Wish I would have is that the series has different map areas to fight in. If a plane + map pack were released together as download content then would buy this for sure.

I seemed to pick up that this was it, less fly by wire, more demanding and exciting flying and they get to shoot off loads of ordnance. Anyway read the book Warthog and you see what I mean.

so now, is the i7 meeting expectations?
HansRoaming replied to Flyby's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ultimately though as duel core machines are the norm as opposed to the exception just think of the 'free' upgrade to fps you'll get when engines finally take advantage of the extra horsepower of additional cores. -
Easier ways to remember start-up procedure?
HansRoaming replied to Wags94's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The way I learnt was to watch the trainer a few times then take manual control but as the voice over and text still works go through the startup being told what to do. When you've done this a few times you get it locked in your head. -
Have just read 'Sea Harrier over the Falklands' and am thinking that the Sea Harrier FA2 (developed from lessons learned during the Falklands) would make an excellent DCS aircraft. Great air to air combat capability especially in the low speed regime with a BVR capability in the form of AMRAAM missiles as well as being able to perform and air to ground role. Also a bit different and like the Ka50, something unique.
-
The last video is legendary! A series like this for the A10C would be awesome!
-
Might have to do that, doesn't look great though for people that encounter the Ka-50 on Amazon and want to buy the manual but see it's never available.

Happy 40th Anniversary to the Harrier Jump jet
HansRoaming replied to StewJW's topic in Military and Aviation
DCS Harrier would be amazing for sure -
Real heli examples are a must as an RC chopper to be the same as a BS would have to scale to power to weight and also fly in a chamber to make the Reynolds number identical for the same two craft. An RC chopper 'sees' the air to be a lot thicker than the larger KA-50. To me though if a real Ka-50 pilot says 'This is good' then that's good enough for me.

This is an awesome product for a 1.0.1 release and am glad that ED are taking the long term approach to the DCS series. Aircraft in sims have a very long shelf life so great to see a company realise this and build a working model around it.
-
Guys, have had a manual on order from Amazon.co.uk for months now, what's the problem? I like hard copy manuals, got the third party one for Lockon, bought flaming cliffs with the manual and will buy every one that comes out for DCS aircraft. Please sort out the supply to meet demand.

The amount of work for each are not equivalent.
-
Wow, awesome patch, a lot of work went into that, thank you ED.

Alas no, I don't have good camera gear so gave up long ago looking at dots on a blue sky. :)
