Here's some progress on the rig. The base frame is finished waiting for the structural panel to be cut and bolted into place. Cheers

Well, I had also encountered the same issue. When trying to start DCS through PiTool DCS started in Oculus mode. It took a while to figure out that it necessary to stop all Oculus services in the task manager. In regards of your "cross-eyed" vision, I just have no clue what could cause this. Does changing the PID manually with the thumbwheel affect your vision in any way? Cheers

Ok guys, here's my experience with the Pimax 5K so far. I'm a long time Rift user and was anxious about the 5K when I received it by the end of last year. Disappointment was huge after I somehow failed to get my (Oculus) programs to run with the 5K. After a lot of experiments, studying different forums I finally was able to get the 5K to run pretty stable with both DCS and DCS OB. It took quite some time to find the best adjustments in both PiTool, SteamVR and DCS but meanwhile I have found a pretty satisfying arrangement. Altough not as smooth (smooth enough to be playable even on high frequented MP servers) as the Rift, the level of immersion the fantastic sharpness of the cockpit and that huge FoV makes it so much better and therefor my absolute favorite!!! And I haven't even pulled all triggers to the right ;-) I'm confident that for the future program and graphic codes will improve and provide even better results for resource eating VR goggles as the 5K. But whenever there's light there's also some shadow. In this case what really bothers me is the comfort of the Pimax. After some 2-3 hours of flying you feel the weight of the casing and some pressure on the nose. Feeling on this was much better with the Rift. Another issue is the use of controllers. I found out that with other games the Oculus controllers functioned much more comfortable and better than the Vive ones that I'm using until the Pimax controllers have arrived. But since I'm using a full scale Huey SimPit without having to use the controllers in game, it's not that much of an issue for me but it certainly will be for users that need to use the controllers in game. That's it from my side so far. Cheers!

Thx Element!!!! (Have we met online before? ;)) Just some more drilling and riveting.... I was lucky to gather some sheets of the original Huey floor structural panels. My intention was to bolt them onto the base plate to have it just like the real one. I had to consider the necessary steps that were required for the "underfloor" mounting of several bits and pieces for the to follow control items before attaching the structural panel onto the base plate to gain a 100% match to the real Huey. Cheers, ROB

Well, this is something that could happen in the not too distant future!:music_whistling: Just stay tuned .:) What was done next was the drilling... Drilling, drilling and drilling. :prop: All of the holes for the yet to com rivets and nut plates had to be drilled and sinked. The footrests had to be prepared and the rails for the seat adapted. Well, this is how it looked:

Thx! Another dry-fitting of the main parts before starting bolting the individual bits and pieces together:

Hi Gotwake, the collective as well as the other control parts (stick, pedals, etc.) are original. Cheers

After the measurements were set and done it was about time to cut and weld the aluminum parts for the stick/ pedal control column base. Followed by another dry fitting test with the wooden mock-up of the floor plate. To be continued...

Hey folks, I'd been asked to share some pictures of my Huey SimPit project. And here's what it is like: It started approx 2 years ago when I made first contact to VR and a "semi-scale" Huey pit on a trade fare here in Germany. I was overwhelmed by the impression of VR and the feel of sitting in a real cockpit seat using somehow real stick and pitch. I decided to give it a go except using as much real Huey parts as possible and connect every panel and switch to the sim accordingly. I am happy enough to have access to a real bird and that is where I picked up all measurements. For parts that's a different story :music_whistling: Well, here's how it started: It began with a wooden mock-up to get dimensions and a general plan of how to connect the electronic parts afterwards. That mock-up was used as a template for the metal sheet that was designed using Auto CAD. To be continued...

VR Gloves in DCS! - Attention Eagle Dynamics!

So... Has anybody else here been able to make some experience with the Sensoryx gloves? Cheers, ROB -
VR Gloves in DCS! - Attention Eagle Dynamics!
EvilBert VR replied to lasvideo's topic in Virtual Reality
Hey, here's some pictures of the attached Sensoryx VRFree sensoring unit to my Rift. Since the unit is attached with velcro and in need of a flat surface I started it with the Rift first. In order to use it with my Pimax5K I will have to print something like an adapter plate first. Both HMDs are also pictured below in comparison of the individual front shapes. Cheers, EB -
VR Gloves in DCS! - Attention Eagle Dynamics!
EvilBert VR replied to lasvideo's topic in Virtual Reality
Hello, yes I have received my set around two weeks ago. (Ser.No. 00011) The story: Last year in April I meet some guys on a trade fair where I had my Huey [VR] Sim on display. Pretty much as a technology simulator since I'm using a full size SimPit that is actually made of real Huey parts. Well, those guys (from a Swiss simulation company) were quite impressed and told me that they were working together with a company that was developing tracked VR gloves. SENSORYX The opinion was that when you were able to also SEE your hands in the VR environment.. It would push you to a new level of immersion. I.e. In VR you'd see your hand wandering to the Main Batt switch in the Huey cockpit to flick it. Now that it is also physically present in the Sim Pit you could actually "feel" it. You guys are getting the point. The tracking level of the VR gloves are brilliant! I was overwhelmed by the exactness of the tracking and the way the finger movement is visualized. So far so good.... Now I haven't been able to get them working in DCS yet. One is because I'm still struggeling with my system to get it smoothely working with my Pimax 5K and second calibrating the VR Gloves is like a pain in the a.. . Still a little bit buggy but I'm sure progress will be achieved faster then expected. I'll keep u tuned. Cheers, EB -
Hey all! I just noticed on external view that the upper position lights above the sliding doors are now somehow dimmed down while the lower lights still shine in the usual way. Since those lights are connected and are not addressed spereately in real life, I'm just guessing we are facing another bug since the last update?! How did that happen? Cheers, EB

Gaaaanz großes Kino Lino!!! Besten Dank für die Mühe und die Energie, die Du in das Teil gesteckt hast! Grüße, EB

Hey guys, any news in here? Has anybody else in here had trouble getting the PIMAX5K and DCS started via Steam? It only worked once and I had to shut down all Oculus processes running in the background before. So far I haven't found out a way to get the DCS OB version startet from the Pi-Tool surface. Any suggestions here? Cheers, ROB

I see. So you don't use Steam itself to start DCS. THX for your reply. Btw: What settings are you using? Cheers, EB
-
Hi there, does that mean that you start DCS from the Pimax-Tool and not via Steam-VR? Somehow I have only managed to start DCS once with the Pimax5K and I was flashed by the clarity of the image and the immersion! Cheers, ROB

Hi all, hope this is the right place to post. Yesterday I received the same Error message when trying to start DCS from the Pimax-Tool. I have succesfully imported DCS into the Pimax menu but no success in starting DCS from there. NOT VIA STEAM-VR!! The message keeps showing. The proposed solutions didn't work. Any ideas? THX, EB
