The platform it sits on is 5ft x 5ft supported by 2x4. The sides and instrument panel will be made using 1/4" and 1/8" thick sheeting and the supporting structures are 1/2" square and 1" square hardwood. If you need more info send me pm.

You can use pretty much any pot from 5k to 100k. It wont matter cause all you are using it for is to vary the voltage. Current draw will be minimal with those.

He is cutting an A-10 version for me. Im not gonna care if some details are incorrect while Im playing. I dont have a huge budget for professional high fidelity parts.
-
I dont expect my pit to be exacting. Once its built, I think the small details arent gonna be a big deal for me when Im playing the sim. I have just finished my cad drawing for now. Actual construction will start early next year as soon as I can get a mitre saw.

probably. I dont know the first thing about programming their cards because I dont know the hardware design. If you know of some useful links be all means post. My assumption is that otherwise I will have to completely come up with my own hardware and software design and is not a simple task.

Anyone get LOSIOC to work with Blackshark yet?
-
Im in the same boat. I was leaning towards the PHCC solution but it appears the guy that makes the hardware is no longer doing it. Ill have to figure out something else or simply design my own hardware.

I could be wrong but from pictures it doesnt appear the landing gear lever lights up. I dont have any metal working tools nor do I have a CNC or any other fancy cutting tools so everything is gonna have to be wood and cut by hand. I purchased ACESII seat from SC Simulations. https://www.scsimulations.com/ Rudder pedals http://shop.strato.de/epages/219707.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/219707/Products/%22SP%2004%2011%20010%5B5%5D%22 HOTAS Currently using TM Cougar and modified Suncom throttle until TM Warthog comes out. There is mention that scsimulations will soon be starting on A-10 pit, but until thats done, I have designed the frame, instrument panels, and interfacing software based on 3rd party designs and photos. I have the warning panel almost finished and construction of the frame will be starting early next month. If want more info you can PM me.

Help for adjusting colors on flatscreen

That sounds like a more typical issue with a dying monitor or a monitor cable that is not fully seated. Did you check the connections? -
picking a GPU is so hard to do

Well just remember that AMD/Nvidia is always back and forth with each other performance wise. Every other year the opposite is winning the performance crown so you cant win really. Ive built my rigs to support dual video cards for the last several years but never incorporated it. One problem is amount of power required for them. Ive stuck with 1 video card and been happy. Have you looked into the 5970 card? That one is gonna be tough for Nvidia to beat. Read the review here: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3679 -
Does the shared memory export the whole shkval/abris display or just certain aspects of it or am I misunderstanding its purpose? I dont have touchpal.

Some of you might find this useful. I created a data extraction utility that I plan to use as my software interface for my pit hardware. Its a simple C++ program extracts and displays some of the values from the Export.lua file in real time.

I personally havent bought one yet tho I plan too, but you cant go wrong with the SSD. Everything Ive read is that is one upgrade that once you get you cant go back. Faster load times will benefit every game you have. Of course it wont make up for a slow cpu or video card, but if you run a decent rig, thats the best upgrade you can make right now. As far as video cards, I run a GTX280 and havent found a need to upgrade, but right now ATI has the performance crown with their new 58xx series cards. When Nvidia comes out with their Fermi based cards who knows. Ive spent a lot of years waiting on parts that are supposed to be better and faster than the current stuff, but in all likelyhood, you can probably buy anything currently on the market and be happy with it unless your into benchmarking or extreme gaming. -
Check http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?WT.z_homepage_link=hp_ProductIndex&lang=en&site=US&keywords=. They have a very extensive selection of switches of nearly every kind. You are looking for this kind of switch or similar. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=450-1474-ND The poles refer to the number of electrical connections being made. The throws refer to the number of switch positions. You want single pole double throw in this case. On-Off-On describes the electrical behavior. The switch would on in the upper and lower positions and off in the middle position. Then you various kinds that inlcude locking, momentary, regular, etc. When selecting switches you really need to be able to look at the data sheets to get what you want. Switches come in all kinds of flavors and ratings as you can see. As you can see they have over 6,500 switches just in the toggle category.

Caucasus map with NDB frequencies
sweinhart3 replied to Sven_richmond's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
My questions is outside of an instrument approach, is there really even any reason an NDB/ADF could possibly be useful unless it is purely a backup emergency instrument? GPS does an excellent job of giving you a visual representation on a moving map. I havent once used my ADF. The ABRIS tells you everything you need to know. Also, why didnt they (Kamov) tie in the INU with the GPS so that INU updates are not necessary? Would have also been nice because navigation and target points could have been pulled off of your flight plan instead of having to lase a target, save it, find the latitude/longitude coordinates, then manually punch them into the PVI. Tieing communications between those 2 pieces of equipment would save a lot of manual pilot work. -
The colder the air the more dense it is. Therefore you can compress more air and create greater thrust. That is also why less runway space is needed on cold days than hot days.

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?

i just peed myself -
Im getting ready to make my first set of purchases for an A-10C pit. Does anyone know anwhere I can find a standalone Landing Gear switch that would be passable for an A-10 switch? The only ones Ive been able to find are for a 737 and Airbus style.
-
Yes. I havent flown that mission so was just wondering if a secondary airport was preprogrammed.
-
True but everyone says that about current hardware. When 4MB memory was the shit people were saying they didnt see how they would ever need more than that. I keep thinking that about video cards. My computer always ran fine using 256MB video cards but somehow 1GB+ is being pushed as resolutions increase. Moral of the story is enough is never enough lol.
-
Ok well I meant landing field coordinates. Some missions will have coordinates for a landing field other than the takeoff field. I said airfield 2 because thats how its selected on the PVI.
-
What campaign is that mission in? I dont think Ive done that one but did you check to see if there was Airport 2 coordinates preloaded in the PVI-800?

Well this certainly looks like a real beauty and sounds like its being targeted for the general enthusiast. But it sure looks like its gonna cost a pretty penny. It appears to be built much higher quality than Cougar and even that is a fairly expensive joystick.
