  1. Perhaps your right. I havent tried it. Im mostly worried that playing BS will just end up in sharkfest for the other players. Im assuming P2P is generally active which makes the Shark prime target and an easy kill if your on the other side.
  2. Im not talking about that. It would be unrealistic for a BS to even think about engaging a fast mover. I also am sure ED did a good enough job with the flight models that would prevent grossly unrealistic flight behavior of the jets. I am speaking in terms of the pilot load that is required to practice aircraft/weapons management, target aquisition and dispatch, etc. I am not on the inside of such things and therefore not an expert. But I could take off and fly around and land any of those planes with zero training and practice cause I did it. I am sure if I jumped into a real F-15 I would crash and die on my first landing let alone manage any of the avionics.
  3. it doesnt disable stabilization but basically disengages any autopilot heading commands that would otherwise keep the heli in a heading hold or automatic steering. I find it much easier to employ rockets in FD mode so that small corrections can be made without engaging the trim button. Other weapons its nicer to use regular autopilot functionality to keep your helicopter facing in the right direction. Edit: In real life, you dont have to fight the stick in regular autopilot mode because the stick is always maintained in its last trimmed position. But we have to deal with joysticks that always center or have a high quality FFB joystick that will keep your last joystick position.
  4. I played that mission a few times and never got shot at. I just took off and made a straight line course according to flight plan.
  5. The degree of realism as a sim is not there for most of the planes. It doesnt take the same amount of skill or learning to fly a semi realistic flight model (FC2) as it does for a high fidelity model like blackshark. Try playing A-10C when it comes out and then come back and say the same statement. FC2 has simplified avionics/weapons/aircraft systems/flight model in comparison which to me would feel like its cheating compared to managing BS. This is the biggest reason I hesitate to play BS on a FC2 server.
  6. I would have to partly disagree here. FC2 had to be recoded to be able to communicate with BS. If A-10C is compatible with BS it should be compatible with FC2 as well because they would all have to share the same communications coding. If it doesnt share that same code base, it probably wouldnt be compatible with either one. While it probably still uses the same game engine, from pictures Ive seen there are going to be new or updated features that will set it apart from the other 2 sims. Course everything is speculation until ED says otherwise.
  7. I HIGHLY doubt it will have FFB. Its not mentioned at all in their advertisement and Im sure they would mention that if it was part of the stick. Its advertised to not use gimbals which suggests new centering mechanism.
  8. If you dont have trackir you are missing out big time. I have both trackir 4 and trackir 5. I personally found a big enough difference between the two that made trackir 5 worth the purchase. The biggest difference being that the higher resolution allows smaller head movements with greater precision and smoothness. That might not be as big a deal with FC2, but in Blackshark it makes a difference when your trying to click individual switches in the pit with your mouse especially on the sides where you have to keep your head still.
  9. That particular mission your goal is just to ferry your helicopter to the base on your flight plan rather than CAS. Your best bet at night if you need to attack something is to bring some illumination rockets with you.
  10. My secret weapon is kamikaze tactics.
  11. And Im a man who stares at goats.
  12. Do the real jets have differential braking. Theres only 1 command in the game that applies to wheel brakes so I cant assign it to my pedals. In Blackshark I understand the need for differential brakes isnt really there. Fighters I know can turn the nose wheel much more than typical general aviation planes. If they dont have diff braking, are the wheel brakes still applied through the pedals and is equal pedal force still needed?
  13. It seems that FC2 doesnt have clickable cockpits. So why is there a mouse option L-alt-C for clickable cockpits?
  14. I voted for the last one but, but if there are A2A guys flying around trying to take out the heli guys, Im not gonna bother playing Blackshark because they wouldnt stand a chance.
  15. Where can I access and download the flight manual? The link listed on the Lock On site doesnt work.
  16. I just bought FC2 and am thinking of starting online play. From what I gather this is like 5 friendly kills and your out. Are friendlys clearly identifiable or is online play easily able to have mistaken identity with no labels especially in bvr combat?
  17. Yes but they dont build cars and airplanes with slop in the control mechanisms either.
  18. Ive killed friendlies a couple times too. In KA-50 there is a non-functional switch for IFF. IRL this should be notifying you if you are targeting friendly aircraft or vehicle shouldnt it?
  19. When I approach a hostile area the first thing I look for are the strelas and avengers. Those are always my first targets at maximum range. As far as MANPADS are concerned I engage them at 4km regulary in auto mode without ever having to flip to manual. On target hits are a bit iffy so when I engage them, I switch to low firing rate and use short bursts to conserve ammo. At 4km, I probably have about 60% success rate of killing them without ever having been fired on. When I do get fired on there is quite a bit of time to manuever. I dump a few flares and often dont even have to move more than a few meters and probably about 90% of the time I am successful at avoiding getting hit after a launch. I still get unlucky occasionally but when I die in battle its rarely because of them. Also of note, Ive watched the AI march straight into their stinger shots and they are still able to avoid them quite often. They will keep doing it too even after being shot at a few times. Each MANPAD seems to have 2-3 stinger shots and then they are out of ammo. After that you can hover on top of them and they wont bother you.
  20. Ive been playing GOW chapter 2 several months and have been unable to get past mission 5. Many times I dont know the exact parameters for mission success and a mission flown that should have been success wasnt. It also seems that even tho I end up flying the same missions over and over again (usually 3, 4, and 5), I get pitted up against a random number of enemies. There have been missions Ive flown that 3 full loads of ammo wouldnt have taken them all out and Ive had missions where they put in 4 attack choppers as well as a pair of A-10 that easily destroys what little defense they gave me. I have probably flown those 3 missions over 10times each and getting close to giving it up.
  21. Option 5: All this talk of patches for FC2 and BS is one big April Fools Joke.
  22. you guys are making up your own rumors and then believing them. No eta at all has been given by ED. They simply said the patch is in testing stage. Dont try to take more from that than what it is.
  23. I meant it as a joke. I am aware of the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Ive never heard of people dying because of depleted uranium that was used who wouldnt have died if it was a different kind of metal. My point is thats it equally rediculous. And if it really produced a poisonous cloud of heavy metal in any significant quantity that affected non-combatants, it would be illegal to use it.
  24. or for that matter your microwave. After all you directly radiate your food on a daily basis lol.
