35k ft, can't go super sonic (4/10 OB Patch)
FoxTwo replied to Banzaiib's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Fully loaded (4 Phoenix, 2 SW, 2 SP) and mostly full tanks (~14) I'm albe to do around .9 mach @ 35k in PG with throttle at full MIL. Going to full AB I can push it to about 1.1. Seems normal to me? -
HW/Performance issue related to VR, help needed
FoxTwo replied to ravenzino's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you enable motion reprojection? If so, unless your hitting a solid 90 FPS, motion reprojection will keep you at 45. -
Terrain engine effect on hardware ?
FoxTwo replied to Svsmokey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
GPU most likely. -
Mostly the same settings with a few changes. All textures on high. Shadows on flat (important for spotting enemy planes while dogfighting) and MFAA enabled in the Nvidia control panel. FXAA off.
-
Accurate models are probably coming with the Forrestal and the rest of the deck crew/tractors/etc. MD-3A for towing/air supply and an NC-2A for the power.

HW/Performance issue related to VR, help needed
FoxTwo replied to ravenzino's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If the GPU is not hitting 100% utilization, it has to be CPU bound. That's all you really need to look at. My 1080ti is around 89-99% GPU in DCS VR at any given time. -
Yes and no. They've boosted the sound of the engines so that we can hear them better, but pilots of the actual thing have said that you couldn't even hear those over the sound of the air handlers. It was literally deafening without hearing protection.

HW/Performance issue related to VR, help needed
FoxTwo replied to ravenzino's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
While somewhat counterintuitive, I have to agree. In this case I don't think the CPU is able to push enough data to the GPU to bottleneck even in VR. -
Anyone else getting an Atari 2600 effect on the horizon and a grid in the water? I assume it's something to do with spawning near the edge of the caucasus map, I don't notice it in any other mission. https://i.imgur.com/gKe2gvW.jpg

'Hydraulic Transfer Pump Switch' Not Visible
FoxTwo replied to gary palmer's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
You'll need to move your camera to hit the switch. Alternatively, it's not technically required for a cold start and can be skipped. -
HW/Performance issue related to VR, help needed
FoxTwo replied to ravenzino's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You need to run something like GPUz or MSI Afterburner and watch the GPU load. It should hit 100%. If it doesn't, your bottleneck is CPU. Since I've got a faster CPU than you, but a lesser GPU and still maintain at least 45FPS, it's logical to conclude that if you do have a bottleneck it's there. However, being that CPU limited at such a high resolution is HIGHLY improbable. Make sure steam is set to 100% and not 200% and that MSAA isn't any higher than 2x and that shadows and mirrors are disabled. Those are the biggest FPS killers. Also I wouldn't bump PD higher than 1.4 or 1.5. If none of this works, it may be time to do a clean Windows 10 install and start over. -

What are your settings? Do you have motion reprojection enabled for steam VR? Edit the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings\default.vrsettings" "driver_Holographic_Experimental" : { // Motion reprojection doubles framerate through motion vector extrapolation // motionvector = force application to always run at half framerate with motion vector reprojection // auto = automatically use motion reprojection when the application can not maintain native framerate "motionReprojectionMode" : "auto", With SteamVR set to 100% resolution, I use this for my DCS VR options config (located at %userprofile%\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua) : options = { ["VR"] = { ["box_mouse_cursor"] = true, ["custom_IPD"] = 63.5, ["custom_IPD_enable"] = false, ["enable"] = true, ["hand_controllers"] = false, ["pixel_density"] = 1.4, ["prefer_built_in_audio"] = true, ["use_mouse"] = true, }, ["difficulty"] = { ["RBDAI"] = true, ["aircraftMode"] = true, ["avionicsLanguage"] = "native", ["birds"] = 0, ["cockpitStatusBarAllowed"] = false, ["cockpitVisualRM"] = false, ["compassTape"] = true, ["controlsIndicator"] = true, ["easyCommunication"] = false, ["easyFlight"] = false, ["easyRadar"] = false, ["externalViews"] = true, ["fuel"] = false, ["geffect"] = "realistic", ["hideStick"] = false, ["iconsTheme"] = "nato", ["immortal"] = false, ["labels"] = 2, ["map"] = true, ["miniHUD"] = false, ["optionsView"] = "optview_all", ["padlock"] = false, ["permitCrash"] = false, ["radio"] = false, ["reports"] = true, ["setGlobal"] = true, ["spectatorExternalViews"] = true, ["tips"] = true, ["units"] = "imperial", ["userMarks"] = true, ["userSnapView"] = true, ["weapons"] = false, }, ["format"] = 1, ["graphics"] = { ["DOF"] = 0, ["LensEffects"] = 2, ["MSAA"] = 1, ["SSAA"] = 0, ["SSAO"] = 0, ["anisotropy"] = 4, ["aspect"] = 2.3888888888889, ["chimneySmokeDensity"] = 0, ["civTraffic"] = "low", ["clouds"] = 1, ["clutterMaxDistance"] = 430, ["cockpitGI"] = 0, ["disableAero"] = false, ["effects"] = 3, ["flatTerrainShadows"] = 2, ["forestDistanceFactor"] = 0.5, ["fullScreen"] = true, ["heatBlr"] = 1, ["height"] = 1440, ["lights"] = 2, ["motionBlur"] = 0, ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "1camera", ["outputGamma"] = 2.2, ["preloadRadius"] = 150000, ["rainDroplets"] = true, ["scaleGui"] = false, ["shadowTree"] = false, ["shadows"] = 1, ["sync"] = false, ["terrainTextures"] = "max", ["textures"] = 2, ["treesVisibility"] = 6000, ["useDeferredShading"] = 1, ["visibRange"] = "High", ["water"] = 1, ["width"] = 3440, }, ["miscellaneous"] = { ["Coordinate_Display"] = "Lat Long", ["F2_view_effects"] = 1, ["TrackIR_external_views"] = true, ["accidental_failures"] = false, ["autologin"] = true, ["chat_window_at_start"] = true, ["collect_stat"] = false, ["f10_awacs"] = true, ["f11_free_camera"] = true, ["f5_nearest_ac"] = true, ["force_feedback_enabled"] = false, ["headmove"] = false, ["show_pilot_body"] = true, ["synchronize_controls"] = true, }, ["plugins"] = { ["CaptoGlove"] = { ["armBending"] = 60, ["enable"] = false, }, ["F-14B"] = { ["JESTER_Camera"] = true, ["JESTER_HeadMenu"] = true, ["JESTER_LandingCallouts"] = true, ["JESTER_SwitchToPSTT"] = true, ["RadioMenuPttOptions"] = 0, }, ["Su-25T"] = { ["CPLocalList"] = "default", }, ["TF-51D"] = { ["CPLocalList"] = "default", ["assistance"] = 100, ["autoRudder"] = false, }, ["VAICOM"] = { ["VAICOMClientIP"] = "127.0.0.1", ["VAICOMDebugModeEnabled"] = false, }, }, ["sound"] = { ["GBreathEffect"] = true, ["cockpit"] = 100, ["gui"] = 100, ["headphones"] = 100, ["headphones_on_external_views"] = true, ["hear_in_helmet"] = true, ["music"] = 100, ["radioSpeech"] = true, ["subtitles"] = true, ["volume"] = 100, ["world"] = 100, }, ["views"] = { ["cockpit"] = { ["avionics"] = 1, ["mirrors"] = false, ["reflections"] = false, }, }, } I have a 1080ti and a 5GHz 8700k with 32GB of DDR4 C14 3200 and get a solid 45FPS with the Odyssey+. Looks like it's Acer for you. The Headset The Acer ConceptD Ojo Windows Mixed Reality is a yet another 4K head mounted display aimed primarily at professionals. The HMD is equipped with two 2.89-inch screens featuring a 2160×2160 resolution per eye (4320×2160 combined resolution), a 90 Hz refresh rate, and an unknown field of view. The AR/VR headset features integrated inside-out 6-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) positional tracking and therefore does not require any external sensors. Besides, it also has its own audio headset, and two front-facing cameras to enable augmented reality applications. https://www.anandtech.com/show/14208/acer-conceptd ConceptD OJO 4,320 x 2,160 Display Detachable & Swappable Design Easy Pupil Distance Adjustment Patented Sound Pipe https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/conceptd-home

35" 21:9 Ultrawide 1440p or 43" 16:9 4K monitor?
FoxTwo replied to panzerd18's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
https://rog.asus.com/articles/gaming-monitors/the-43-rog-strix-xg438q-does-big-screen-gaming-with-freesync-hdr-2-at-4k-and-120hz/ This has been my experience as well. I have done 3 1080p, I have done ultrawide 34". I'd rather have a taller display for flight sims. -
Master reset after coming out of oversweep. Edit: Sorry I see that you said you've done that. If the wings are in auto and hydraulics are operating (engines on), you should be able to unsweep the wings. I think I know what you're doing wrong. The emergency override (hydraulic) wing control can only be operated with the handle up. Pushed down, you operate the wing sweep electronically with the hat. Put the wings in auto or push forward on the wing sweep hat.

35" 21:9 Ultrawide 1440p or 43" 16:9 4K monitor?
FoxTwo replied to panzerd18's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What I'm saying is that to me, H FoV isn't as important. V is. I spend most of my time looking at instruments and panels. If I can see the entire cockpit and HUD, and it's legible without zoom, that's more advantageous to me than being able to see out the sides. I can turn my head left or right (with track-ir) if I need to but being able to glance at and read instruments quickly is to me far more valuable. Not to mention when I'm turning on a target, I'm far more likely to need to look UP at it. Side visibility isn't as much of a priority. Yes you can zoom out, but then things tend to become unreadable. I have a 34" ultrawide, and I honestly wish I didn't for DCS. -
According to the fighter pilot podcast episode 012 (Aircraft Carriers Pt2) 32m:38s, the night launch ready signal was to turn on all of the exterior lights, since a salute from the pilot wouldn't necessarily be visible to the deck crew. Will this be modeled for the F-14?

35" 21:9 Ultrawide 1440p or 43" 16:9 4K monitor?
FoxTwo replied to panzerd18's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
16:9 is a better experience for DCS than 21:9 imo. 16:10 would be better but nobody makes those anymore. Vertical space is more important than horizontal. -
Pretty simple but I wrote two scripts to enable/disable VR and launch DCS. Just copy the contents into two script files. DCS_vr-enable.ps1 $options = "$env:userprofile\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua" (Get-Content $options) -replace '\["enable"\] = false,', '["enable"] = true,' | Set-Content $options &"$env:ProgramFiles\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" DCS_vr-disable.ps1 $options = "$env:userprofile\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua" (Get-Content $options) -replace '\["enable"\] = true,', '["enable"] = false,' | Set-Content $options &"$env:ProgramFiles\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" Instead of launching DCS by the shortcut just right click and run the appropriate script with powershell.
