  1. Happily waiting on a Rev 2 unit then I guess. No rush for me.
  2. No. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. That way when it eventually arrives, it'll be a complete surprise.
  3. Well for starters, SweViver works for Pimax now so of course he's going to champion the company's primary selling point. Second, spotting at range, image clarity and cockpit readability is far more important to me than some peripheral vision. I'd rather have 110 FoV and a crisp image than 150+ with everything blurry.
  4. If you want to control a targeting pod from the front seat, you're flying the wrong plane. Get in an F-18, AV-8B, or A-10C. I see no problem with heatblur disabling the ability for this mod to work once it can be performed by the Jester AI or preferably, a human RIO.
  5. https://thebuttkicker.com/buttkicker-gamer2/ Mounts to the lift cylinder on a standard office char. https://thebuttkicker.com/bk-sk/ Will need a mount fabricated or mounted to a platform that the chair is attached to.
  6. In my experience, terrain shadows, even flat, are the biggest performance hit in the game. I've disabled them entirely. Cockpit shadows don't seem to have a huge impact, so setting those to medium or high should be fine. The second biggest hit is MSAA but I can't really stand having it off personally.
  7. I don't think he (or the game) recognizes the carrier as a valid landing area right now. I only get callouts on shore based airfields.
  8. I mean we can remove the AIM-54 pylons, but not the aux tank mounts and they interrupt the lines when they're not mounted.
  9. Try having Jester set the datalink radio to the carrier.
  10. Air start/engine failure, high winds on landing, plenty of reasons to require differential thrust. No reason to not keep them unlocked in a dual engine plane. The F-14 has an async thrust limiter built in anyway. Should be able to judge where both throttles are by looking at the fuel flow indicator, so it's not difficult to keep them in sync.
  11. Why aren't you using the simshaker software with a transducer?
  12. Fairly certain this isn't a bug, there are multiple stories of a RIO blacking out in a merge and waking up to see the aircraft's nose on the bogey's six.
  13. Hook skip bolters (and hook damage) aren't properly modeled yet but Jester seems to be able to pick up when your AOA is off enough to have gotten one. They're coming, so just remember that when Jester calls bolter but you've landed successfully you probably won't be doing that in the future. Right now F-14 carrier landings are super forgiving, you can catch a wire at crazy angles and speeds that you shouldn't be able to. If you're not seeing it in the kneeboard you likely didn't push the throttle all the way to mil after catching the hook. If your speed break is still out, you didn't do it right. Remember after catching a wire, throttle to MIL for 4 seconds, then back to idle.

  15. Arming the ejection seat has a sort of metallic sound that will normally play once. However, on some occasions it plays over and over until I disarm and rearm the seat. I mostly look behind and manually hit the switch in VR with the mouse control, but I've had it do it when pressing shift-e as well.
  16. You're touching something in the cockpit. The stick, an autopilot switch. Something. ACLS doesn't always hit the wire (I've had a single bolter in probably 15-20 ACLS tests) but it will absolutely always land itself. Take your hands off the stick and throttle until touchdown, sit back and let the plane fly itself. Don't touch a single button once ACLS is engaged and it will fly you right in.
  17. I've gotten 3 and 4 wires with ACLS, it's not perfect. That said hook skip bolters aren't really being modeled yet, you can come in at some stupid angels/locations and still catch the wire. So if ACLS missed, it missed by a lot because right now landings are really forgiving. How far out were you when you engaged it? 4 to 2 miles seems to be ideal to align the needles and let ACLS get everything right, shorter than that and it tends to aggressively over compensate if you're not already dead on the glidepath (which if you were, why bother to engage ACLS).
  18. The Stennis is the default carrier in the game, it's functional but not what I'd call a 'good' experience. You do not need to buy the F-18 to use the Stennis. The Nimitz will be a separate full featured module that you'll have to pay for, developed by ED. The Forrestal is a free add on for the F-14 developed by Heatblur that will come at some point in the future. While not as full featured as the Nimitz, it's hoped that it will be a significant improvement over the Stennis. You will not need to own the F-14 to use the Forrestal.
  19. Got mine, installed it in 10 minutes, calibrated in another 5. Working like a charm. Cannot recommend this product enough.
  20. If it's fully textured, the correct scale, and I can land on it and hook up to a catapult without requiring an F2 view, you're already beating the pants off the Stennis. Not expecting the planned Nimitz module fidelity/quality. But I understand your wanting to temper expectations.
  21. Thanks man. You guys rock.
  22. Will the Forrestal be available to use on maps in multiplayer for folks who don't have the F-14? Given the news from ED about the Nimitz module, Heatblur is the only hope for reasonable functional carrier multiplayer ops. Not asking for a handout here (just so we're clear, I already bought an F-14 two pack), it'd just be nice to have a carrier with ATC that works and a working deck crew. Thanks.
  23. I wasn't asking for FXAA, this is the wishlist forum. Why are you here?
  24. Literally does nothing in VR. Pixel density is the setting that impacts render resolution in VR. The game needs a good, relatively GPU inexpensive post processing AA. Whether it's FXAA that ignores HUD elements and runs a sharpening filter, CMAA, or SMAA (or all of the above because choices are good).
  25. DECK-LAUNCHED INTERCEPT PROCEDURES Note These procedures assume that a quick reaction, full-mission-capable launch is essential. Prestart procedures and cockpit configuration may vary in accordance with airwing policy and specific EMCON conditions. All CNI equipment, as applicable should be placed in ON or STBY, all SAS switches ON, and the HYD TRANSFER PUMP switch should be in NORMAL before application of electrical power. The LTS, INST, EMERG GEN, and DFCS IBIT tests on MASTER TEST panel should be conducted and verified during periodic aircraft turn-ups. Compliance with the takeoff checklist is mandatory to ensure proper aircraft configuration before launch. 7.8.1 Pilot Procedures 1. External electrical power — ON. 2. Seat — ARM. 3. Fire detect — Check. 4. Left engine — IDLE. 5. Right engine — IDLE. 6. OBC — Select. 7. MSL PREP — ON. 8. SW COOL — ON. 9. OBC — Deselect. 10. Hook operation — Check. 11. Takeoff Checklist. 12. Ordnance crew — Arm. Seems like the ready 5 procedure included MSL PREP and SW COOL enabled on the deck before takeoff.
