  1. I mean, a bespoke hand built device with a wait time is better than a mass produced unit that you can just go buy at a store. I'm not terribly surprised. But I also think the TPR is pretty good for what it is. Not to mention it's available at around $450 USD (at least when I got mine) compared to ~$700 for the slaw (shipped). Comparing apples to oranges imo.
  2. Forrestal is coming before the end of the year. No news on the A model but they're waiting until all the B model bugs are squashed.
  3. It's worked since at least since 2.0, it's not new. Here's a post showing it working back in Feb of '18 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=201196
  4. Since this forum is for wishing for things that we'll never get, I'd love to see this massive, supersonic, Vietnam era carrier based SOB end up in DCS.
  5. It comes from them. They're Gauss.
  6. Gladly. We talking weeks? or months. Or longer? Just curious on the expected time frame not looking for solid dates.
  7. I'm not here to argue too much about the price, it is what it is. But I'll say this. Microsoft FFB joystick is like $100. Brunner's base is around $1400. I'd just like (and was hoping for) something in the middle that's quite a bit more than $100 but less than $1400. $5-600 while is still a chunk of change and would be a lot more reasonable target for the hobbyist. Even if it meant a reduction in material or build quality (which would be expected) as long as it was able to hit the performance target. To keep with the car analogy, I don't want a Ferrarri, I want a Corvette. Frankly as Brunner is a known quantity for what seems to be about the same amount of money I'd go with them if I felt the need to spend a stupid amount of money. Just my $0.02.
  8. Want. Desperately. Warthog compatibility and a reasonable cost please.
  9. I can see SDE on the O+ if I focus on the pixels, but that really doesn't look like SDE that's just the fresnel lens artifacts. You have to focus beyond the lens otherwise you'll see it all the time.
  10. Doesn't look like it shares anything with the reverb apart from the panels and inside out tracking.
  11. There was a period where you could order it on amazon. If you held off and didn't cancel it, they ended up actually shipping some of them. During the time however they were delisted from the site.
  12. There was some discussion about the Forrestal class back when all the crap about the Nimitz multiplayer restrictions came up (which are no longer a thing). They're still working on it, but that's about all they said. Won't be as full featured as the Nimitz but that's not terrible. Honestly, remember that the F-14 is still in early access and they still have the Viggen campaign to finish (which I believe they are focused on first). So once that's done, we'll see work on the F-14A, Forrestal, and campaign most likely.
  13. You can create an axis for them and bind them to knobs, but I don't see a -/+ mapping for them in clickabledata.lua
  14. I think I'm going to wait for Acer's version this fall. The adjustable IPD seems nice and maybe they'll have actually worked some bugs out of theirs. $650+ is just too much to be a beta tester. I can live with my Odyssey+ until then.
  15. I've just tested it in free flight and it's behaving the same way that it has always done in my experience. At high altitude (14k+) and any speed (tested at 300 kts and above mach 1), rudder application rolls you in the applied direction. At low altitude (on the deck) and speed above 300 kts, rudder application will roll you in the opposite direction. Below 300 kts it's in the applied direction.
  16. At what velocity? She's always done a roll reversal above 250-300kts. At least in prior versions of the open beta.
  17. Terrain shadows seem to destroy it. Cockpit shadows not as much. I run with terrain off and cockpit high.
  18. That looks like cockpit geometry extending outside of the airframe.
  19. No. ED/engine audio rendering limitation.
  20. Cockpit dirt/bloom lens effects are rendered independent in each eye view, producing a double lens flare/crosseyed effect.
  21. 6 cameras. Wow what a revelation. Specs coming next week. It's like HTC doesn't actually want to sell their HMD.
  22. Release: 45-60 fps Openbeta: 48-60 fps Nvidia driver 430.97 Program Settings for Black Shark - MFAA forced on and power management mode: prefer maximum performance Windows MR with SteamVR 1.5.9 scaling set to 108% System Specs: Display: Samsung Odyssey+ PC: i7-8700k @ 5GHz, 32GB DDR4, EVGA 1080ti FTW3 hybrid, 512GB Samsung 960 Pro Not seeing significant performance difference between versions. DxDiag.txt options.lua
  23. I have no doubt that it's better than the 1st gen Rift and I'm glad you're happy with yours. But I've seen the through the lens comparisons and I've read the opinions of the owners of multiple HMDs. The clarity, sharpness and PPI is squarely in the top end of the 1.5 generation. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's not good enough for me and it's not good enough to justify the $8-900 asking price compared to something like the Reverb.
  24. A slight compromise in burn duration in exchange for smokeless propellant. Nothing comes without a price.
  25. I'm sure it feels like a big deal and is very immersive. But from a practicality standpoint, I need to be able to clearly read my instruments and indicators without zooming before I need to see the ground blurring off to the side of my head.
