What if everyone sells their cougars and ED do an F-16 DCS game? I don't want to start a whole, "i want a ....!" thread, but can you imagine the "DOH!" levels? TM would have to do a new Viper throttle because i can't go back to my stick-o-matic Cougar throttle, (even though i loved the moulded feel and used the rotaries now and again). The Hog throttle is the mutts nuts. That kind of paranoia may make me keep the old girl in storage.

I just re-read my earlier post and there were loads of spelling mistakes. I was too excited to run spellchecker. That’s not happened in a few years! Just finished first proper flight and am letting the metal on the throttle grips cool a bit. Mavericks are soooooooooooooooooooo much easier with the proper controls. Even with the current WIP nature I scored 3 kills without breaking a sweat. I need to map a zoom view to something as I couldn’t hit the Eiffel tower with the GAU right now, but that me not the stick. The throttle, once you get start getting used to it is awesome and my Cougar throttle looks like an Atari controller next to it. I’m using cursors instead of the mini stick till ED brings out the next beta hopefully with the FOV/Slew bit fixed. On my first “instant action” I got promoted! That’s a good omen. my inner OCD means i'm constantly worried that my throttles arent evenly set so spend ages twiddling. the torottle is taking some getting used to. so many controls and its not moulded to your hand like a viper throttle. you have to mould your hand to it! the microstick isna an issue for me. theres an ingame bug with exmpanded FOV in the TGP and slew rates so that will be fixed

Slew issue is known wip. Acknowledged by ed. Works fine in wide view but.... Slew rate change via UFC works on mav only. Mcfd slew change for microstick still wip This tm hog throttle is very very strange. I mean the cougars was moulded to your hand. This is just..... Industrial! It's going to take some getting used to. Oh well. It's a hard life ;)

The stick is absolutely awesome. The throttle base is a work of military art. So.....meaty. The throttle handle is going to take some getting used to. After my "moulded to your hand" cougar throttle this is more.......industrial and absolutely bristling with controls. I’m playing with the throttles linked as its melting my brain trying to keep them even and i don’t need individual control unless there’s a fire right? I wish the throttle handle was metal as well but vie not seen a real one so maybe this is 100% authentic. It’s got a very smooth action. None of the cougar-stickiness I may be in love. Don’t tell my girlfriend ;)

Heh. Only joking. :thumbup: I will try using the trackclip pro and see if that improves things. Dont like wearing headsets though as i feel claustrophobic and besides, i have nice speakers with a big sub in my study.

Yeah, i'm using it. Its the extreme views where it messes up. trying to look at the Lighting control panel for instance. It wobbles all over the place.

Guys I’ve had TrackIR 4 w/pro clip for over a year now and have been eying up TIR5 on for a while. The reviews were all taken from the viewpoint of someone new to Track IR or from someone upgrading from the much older TIR3 generation. Will I see much improvement on my TIR4? I can get about £60 from my TIR4 on eBay so would be spending roughly £70 for the upgrade in the end, (unless I get a 2nd hand one). Does the new model improve in TIR4 weaknesses, (at least as I experience them); · Is it less susceptible to background light? · Is it smoother? · Does it allow finer / more accurate movements? · Does it freak out less at extreme angles, (90 deg, etc)? · Can it handle multi axis movements better? (For example. Look down at the rudder pedals, then, keeping your chin down; look right toward the lower right console. Now pan your head right to look at the rear right console. My TrackIR has a head fit doing this making DCS: A-10 CDU use impossible. I think this may be down to either too many axes at the same time or gimbal limits of the sensor). TBH I don’t use the ProClip much as I don’t wear a headset to game much so I just use the hat clip thingy. If there isn’t much difference I will just wait till TIR6 :music_whistling: **EDIT** Guys, I just really want the opinions of those who have upgraded from 4 to 5 really. Thats my predicament. Cheers

MONDAY! Tommorrow man. A whole weekend with my Cougar which i now look at accusingly every day with its bare throttle and lack of switches. I will plav Civ5 in a massuive huff.
