Updated shark hog profile (run from script editor now) **edit** small bug in fuel switch function found and squished ;) please update your TMC file with the one from the RAR file Here is an updated version of my BS Hog profile.. Change log v1.1 Additions --------- I have added functions (mostly to aid manual start-ups), since in BS most of the switches are stateless, (i.e. Same button controls on and off states), there is no way to determine the state of a switch at game launch, so for these controls I am assuming cold start. If you start with engines running or airborne, then my advice would be not to operate the engine controls as they will work back to front, (or worse as they manipulate the switch covers as well so you may see some craziness). If I can figure a way of reading button state at launch I can fix this. (switch controls also open/close switch caps) Throttle flaps control now controls throttle (Up-Idle, MR-Medium, DN-auto). I have not added a “full” as AFAIK it’s not often used. I can change this later if necessary. Fuel L/R NORM/OVERRIDE switches now control engine shutoff valves. (Before mission start make sure switches are in “override” position). ENGINE OPER switches now control both L/R engine governors and L/R engine cut-off valves. (Before mission cold start make sure switches are in central “NORM” position). UP (momentary) – open engine governor switch flap, activate engine governor, close flap. Down – open engine cut-off. (Switch stays down. Move to mid to close cut-off and flick up to disengage engine governors at shutdown. APU Start – (start in down position) UP – APU Fuel shutoff open. (You must manually start the APU as normal). DOWN, stop APU, close APU fuel shutoff Modified functions ------------------ TMS –UP lock target. Removed PULSE command so now holding up will allow unlock/slew to finely tune target. SHKVAL View. Having spent a month trying to control the shkval with the slew control I have given up. It’s just not accurate or sensitive enough in this sim. I have moved fine SHKVAL control to the coolie hat. It’s stiffer but by god it gets the job done better. I recommend using HMS for rough aim then Coolie hat for fine adjustment. Spotlight slew– moved to slew control Trim reset. Removed from H1-up-long. It was interfering with longer trim usage and is not modelled in the RL BS. Plus you can manually re-trim easily. China hat tracking gate resize. PULSE command removed for faster gate resize with held position. Boat switch. Added basic logic to tighten up control; Aft – target reset (cage shkval) Mid – uncage shkval (if it isn’t already) / wide FOV Fwd – narrow fov Now you can start with it in any position and it will act accordingly. To do..... ---------- As I learn the sim more, (or re-learn in my forced A-10 hiatus), especially cold starts, I find tying the hog throttles switches to engine / fuel switches is a real help. I am avoiding dual virtual switch control from a single real switch as this would be cheating ;) LASTE – path/alt/alt-hdg switch. Not sure what to do with this. I could try and ‘A-10-erize’ it but the fact is that the shark and hogs AP mechanisation is very different so I don’t see any point. Suggestions welcome. I hate a wasted switch! USB codes so they work on any nationality keyboard EAC on/off - Currently set to MASTER ARM as I like a proper “thunk” when I arm weapons ;) It may be more realistic to set this switch to the ‘K-041 targeting/navigation power switch’. As I use ‘Jojo's Black Shark Profile for Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack’ for my mfd’s, I don’t really need another MASTER ARM switch Rotor brake – I keep forgetting it in the cockpit. I may map something for it, but as it’s only used once..... The HOTAS is for often used vital commands and the rotor brake does not qualify..... Now I have got my head round scripting and conditionals, I will code throttle fuel flow, engine oper and APU start switches to control similar in shark to facilitate cold starts. I am toying with adding quick interior lighting. nvg lighting commands to LONG commands in H3 to control (cockpit light, NVG lights, Panel lights & Backup ADI light) I plan to convert all the assignments to USB codes so they work on any nationality keyboard i have my eye on the flaps control and think it would make a good throttle... As usual, if anyone has any suggestions, please PM as I may miss something obvious!   2. Heh. If I hadnt mentioned a couple of things i didnt like i may have been called a FANBOY! ;) Seriously though, it is a very nice, solid piece of kit. My cougar is in the loft and aint coming back in a hurry. Target runs just fine and i am learning it by slowly buildin a BS profile from scratch. No throttle / brick issues at all. The slew control is the only thing i dont really like and strangely, it didnt pop into my head before,. I much preferred the microstick on the Cougar. This is one thing i will mod ASAP as it just aint accurate enough for the SHKVAL.

Probably not safe for Cessna flying.:pilotfly: GRRRRR I have ordnance, move your civilian arse! Don’t like S3 switch hidden round stick base. I don’t have a 5 inch long little finger H4 push on stick feels little hollow Throttle shafts plastic. Slight right throttle play when separated. About 2mm No throttle rotaries Would I buy one again? Yes. Without hesitation.
  4. I 'hummed' and 'haaad' for a whole year before taking the plunge and upgrading and I can tell you IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Put it this way, using the normal track clip on the TIR5 gives you better smoothness then the trackclip PRO did on the TIR4. The trackclip PRO on the TIR5 is silky smooth! In TIR4 I had to have the smoothing at 40-50 to stop jitters. Now I have it at 10. Much faster and accurate. And you can sell your TIR4 for about £70 on eBay to fund 50% of the upgrade.
  5. I'm, not knocking it. For what it is and what it does, it works well. There a lot of people on the yuplay forums ranting about "THIS IS NOT A SIM!!!". Pointless really. My Warthog axis are mapped strangely in terms of calibaration. 100% collective seems to reset to centre, which can get you killed. Might be a patch issue as i doubt the devs tested on a warthog ;) Its a great bash and i am enjoying it. Loud uncomplicated fun.

Well, its a whole lot of, HEAD OVER HERE TEN SECONDS FROM WHERE YOU STARTED, fun as long as you dont take it, SHOOT THE FLASHING RED CURSOR ON THE SCREEN THEY ARE BAD GUYS, too seriously and treat it as a, DESTROY ENEMY CLOSE BUT IF YOU TRY AND SNIPE FROM MORE THAN ONE MILE AWAY YOU WILL BE TELEPORTED TO DIRECTLY OVER THE ENEMY LOCATION BUT THEY ARE DUMB THEY ARE BAD GUYS, console game and therefore a bit of, MISSION COMPLETE HERE ARE SOME ACHIEVEMENTS NEW SKIN, fun then you wont be dissapointed. Those who go expecting, DEFAULT 3RD PERSON VIEW, blackshark with next gen graphics are in for a shock. Fun game once you setup cockpit view, 'realistic mode', TrackIR and your HOTAS, and a nice distraction and a break from the effing BS trimmer :) Oh, and you need to be online to login to game i think. No probs for us towny broadbanders, but if you are on hill in Wales........
  7. Alright i caved in and ordered from Amazon yesterday. Way i figure, i've got his beast £300 new HOTAS and precisely 2.5 games to run on it, (BS, FC2, A-10 beta 4 when it comes out as 3 is borked and i cant be arsed with it crashing in every mission anymore and the "downtown athens" fog makes a mockery of my new GFX card and reminds me of the draw distance of TUROK on the bloody N64.....muttermutter). Also, some 'sim-lite' shenanigans should be fun. :pilotfly:
  8. Ive temporarily ditched A-10 as beta 3 breaks my bollocks, but i have gone back to Black Shark and i can say that with the Hog, its a whole new ballgame. No curves or deadzones needed. Its beautiful. I am working up a TARGET profile for BS which should be done sometime this week. I am keeping the profile A-10 centric of you get my meaning as i want to minimise the amount of brain farts when i transition between A-10 and BS
  9. Flying blind and without support and low. Thats darwin award territory! Preparation is everything. Know the enemy lkely locations, know your safe escape routes, tweak your waypoints, use geographical features, stay out of SHORAD envelope, use the TGP, and rain death from "slightly more above than before" ;)
  10. Have i missed something here? New firmware. Ive had mine from day one and no issues. I did hear that a few guys had vanishing throttle issues. Is that what you are afriad of? Otherwise, STOP BEING A WUSS and get it out, fire it up and kick some ass! :joystick::pilotfly::thumbup:

  12. Looks like in A-10, ED have compensated for the crazy TM slew control somehow with extra damping. Or maybe their axis settings are different. i changed mine so i lost the defaults but i recall they were about saturation 10 but had a straight then diagonal "curve". not smooth. can anyone confirm and replicate this setup in BS?

  14. just assign the axis for "absolute shkval slew" i think its called. in options under the throttle column. the hog slew show up as JOY_X and JOY_Y
  15. I’ve been learning TARGET and have been setting up a BS profile on the hog. The slew controls are driving me mad though. I’ve tried reducing the sensitivity in-game with a curve and reduced the saturation but it’s still way too twitchy to be of any use Has anyone got this licked? And can I change a profile I’ve spent hours on to be “advanced” so I can enable the I/O modifiers? Cheers
  16. Just to get things straight here, you are talking about BS right? I had a right carry on with LOMAC on Vista/Win7, but FC2, BS and A-10 dont use that same starforce system AFAIK.
  17. started doing one using target as WH beta3 was doing my head in. its coming along slowly but using the slew control on the throttle for the SHKVAL is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sensetive even when you alter the curves, i cant control it.
  18. I am having crashes in most missions with beta3. Clean install. i am thinking that the "difficult 3rd album" may be replaced soon ;) We have been lucky though as betas 1 & 2 were pretty damn stable at least for me. I got a lot of learning done with them. ..and lots of testing of course! :smartass:

  22. You are jumping two generations so you will be in for a nice surprise. Run a mission now with framerates on. Then repeat with new card.
  23. Gonzo What tool are you using to measure GPU usage? I downloaded GPU-Z but it doesn't have the good graphing capabilities of rivatuner, but then rivatiner doesnt support new 580's
  24. What is your core loading on average? I get about 60%-80% on the two cores that DCS uses, so the gfx card is limiting factor, even a 580! Still, from what i'm used to it's a whole new world. I had to stop myself getting a Dell U2711 27" monitor as i can get them cheap, but i thought that its resolution (2560x1440), would put me back to GTX285 speeds albeit with a 'god monitor' to drool over. And an angry girlfriend to appease ;)
  25. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. In FC/LOMAC the AI had to have visual to engage otherwise you got "negative". In BS you can send shkval target and get AI to engage In A-10, even broadcast SPI and "attack from SPI" gets a negative 50% of the time now. Hopefully WIP
