  1. Weird vegetation tile pop-up when camera moves. Nice high alt cirrus clouds though. Oh, and the a-10 pit is amazing! That targetting pod. Cant wait to play with that for precision strikes. Is it september yet?
  2. Viper - please stop talking about small MFD monitors! :surrender:mmmmmmmmmmmmsmallmonitorsmmmmmmmm
  3. you do realise guys that we are going to have to get the MFD's as well? the TM/ED thing and auto configuration for the warthog hotas will make them very attractive. so thats; new hotas+MFD's+DCS:A-10 = few days holiday i reckon! I will tell girlfriend they "came as a set"
  4. I may have to drive a steamroller over the metal cougar for that excuse to be valid. "look honey. the nasty old steamroller just reversed over my joystick" seriously though, the new stick/throttle looks amazing. i have started putting money aside. the fact that ED and TM are working together gives me nerd-goosebumps
  5. As far as I can make out, its not an "either" but an "or", assuming HL is updated for FC2.0 I could then use that or the built in server browser, (if and when it is hopefully updated). The best would hopefully prove most popular and the least popular would improve or be marginalised. Give me HL and let me make my mind up, (do we need to buy the author a copy of FC2.0 to make this happen? I'd pay a euro or whatever for a better multiplayer interface any day). My two-pennies-worth.
  6. My god! That looks amazing! And you can use existing modded cougar bases so all those guys who have spent £££'s can carry their investment over! Full software program capability. Backlit throttle controls. All metal contruction. silent dertents, (afterbutner one easily removeable). detents require throttle lift to pass as in real life "The switches on the throttle base are solid and have a very satisfying click when they are moved. Most of the lettering on the throttle base is backlit in green, and the lighting state should eventually be controllable in the programming software." mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMM:P:P My boxes are well and trully ticked!
  7. None of the reviews mention systems operation. Still looks like a good book though.
  8. Apologies for my flippancy. It was an 8.30am and-i-dont-want-to-go-to-work-whats-the-world-coming-to type moment. Seriously though, i hope, (as do many others), that ED do a "DCS: kick arse fast jet sim" after A-10. Would love an F-15, possibly an eagle / strike eagle double, but that’s just me, (I loved the flexibility of combined A-A and A-G operations in that game beginning with an “F” that we don’t mention here. And without….that particular aeroplane, the F-15C & E would be a complementary duo). As for your point, you don’t see many avionics mods about. LEAVU / ERI notwithstanding and no FM mods that i can recall. Not sure you can actually mod the flight model directly. And besides, you would need the resources and skills of aeronautical engineers and access to military / engineering data to get anywhere. A co-ordinated team of modders maybe with specific and complementary skillsets. That’s how a lot of software companies get started nowadays though. Modders to professionals.
  9. Ah, that explains it. I thought I was doing something daft and "n00bish". I have done a few hairy handbrake turns out of the hanger before i remembered to cut the throttle.
  10. Moa - Seeing tactics in use like that is another world for me compared to single player vs AI. The learning curve just shot up again! Once I get my damned headphones (mic feedback on teamspeak) sorted i will be online again. I had no intention of starting a "my server is bigger than your server**" debate. I was just curious why I couldn’t find a lot of the squadron servers listed on the forums in my game browser. I actually assumed it was a ping-thing or some sort or a problem my end as the browser is so basic. I want to try out a lot of the servers as it’s the missions that interest me. Death match games get boring IMO, (that’s why capture the flag was invented after all). Grimes & 3sqn “capturing Maykop” looks very interesting and immersive. Want to try them all….. Like I said, I haven’t really got beyond the lone wolf stage yet. Small steps… **my server is actually smaller than yours I’ll bet. Just set up a tiny wee monster. Dual socket Xeon gulftown (12/24 cores, 24gb or RAM, 15k SAS drives) and only 1U!. Would make a mint FC2.0 server if only I could talk my boss into it……:smilewink:
  11. Wow. Communication has evolved to the level of purely referential dialogue. Soon children will be taught to utter hyperlinks from the womb. :D
  12. I can’t remember what num 0 is supposed to do. Try the key for "long range boresight" and point at something you know is there. Also, on the radar, switch to small azimuth [technical term ;)] and you should see the azimuth gates tracking the cursor as you move it left and right. Without ERI working it doesn’t do that. (IMO ERI is worth it just for that!) As for the "step target" key, I’ve got no idea if that works, as it doesn’t seem to do anything for me. Maybe my next door neighbour’s porch light is going on and off when i press it  I haven’t tried LEAVU yet as I don’t want to be server banned online.
  13. Cheers guys for all your advice. I had a go on friday night but couldn't get teamspeak working properly. It was fine my end but just gave feedback to others, (as some unfortunate american guy was subjected to my wailing speaker whilst i was giving it, "one-two testing") I reckon it was because my speakers were still switched on. I will try again later in the week. One thing i noticed online. When i get hit, the screen switched to a picture from the airport tower. Not very friendly. I guess its because outside views are disabled. ho hum.
  14. heh! never post untill you have had your morning coffee and whilst talking to someone in another room at the same time, ("yes dear, in a minute dear"). I have removed the "testes". [tested - edit] Anyway, "bumfire"..............:megalol:
  15. as for LOMAC & win 7, the Dutch flankers aced it http://www.dutch-flankers.nl/wiki/index.php?title=Installing_Flaming_Cliffs_on_Windows_7 but, if you have upgraded your OS, i am assuming you have a new PC? then get FC2.0. you will not regret it! i also did a "gotchas" guide a while back which may help; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=50471
  16. I had to fiddle to get the keybinds to work. make sure you clear any bindings ingame. you can verify the kebindings in ERI by checking the lines 136-138 in ERI_radar.lua check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd375731(VS.85).aspx for numeric keypad ascii codes. remember to make sure numlock is on though. i made that mistake ( a million times )
  17. Cheers yoda! That was the one tiny bit of the whole mod that i couldnt live with. Everything else is spot on in my humble opinion. :)
  18. i thought it was the squadron dog I keep running over. No ones been taking it for a walk and it likes to sleep under my F-15 . nice and warm.
  19. once you have "succeeded" a mission, go "back" after the briefing then you should have the option to go to the next mission. at work so i cant supply screen grabs
  20. Please don t send ma a collective forehead slap for this query, but, when starting a game online I begin, engines cold in a hardened shelter with the doors just opening. When my engines reach 70% and I have taxi clearance, (aren’t I well behaved?), I have to really go for it to get moving. It doesn’t do that on a taxiway or from an outdoor parking spot. I mean that I have to go almost to full AB to get over “the hump”. Now either; I have to press a key to remove chocks, (as in some flight Sims I recall from the dim and distant past) There is a really big front door step on those hangers There is a key for some sort of “wheel lock” in place on hanger start-up, (tried the wheel brake as in FSX) There is a big elastic band attached to my tail Going to full AB whilst in a hanger is surely a violation of Health and Safety :smilewink:
  21. in your FC temp folder. thats the defualt i believe
  22. ah! separate files, (slaps forehead), of course. cheers for doing the detective work!
  23. To whoever was on the red team flying in a two ship mig-29, (and I think a mig-31), southbound over the mountains at waypoint 2. Congratulations sirs! In my F-15, I was so task focussed on the mig-29 on my left, (both coming head on at me at 30mn, medium alt), that his wingman was able to passively lock me up and kill me with an IR missile, whist I was in SARH avoidance mode. My neighbours could probably hear my, “WHEY AYE!!”, when the heater hit me. I logged out and went and had a good think. I had been having some success over the mountains, being careful to avoid more than 1v1 unless there were other friendless in the area to distract my targets. The valleys are good to hide in, when extending away after a salvo of aim-120c’s goes active. But two fighters actively supporting each other with complementary attack strategies was a conundrum that I couldn’t solve. This has brought me to an interesting impasse. Lone wolf flying is fine in a 1v1 furball, or for sneaky hit & run valley sorties, but in a medium altitude head on fight with competent supportive players? I need to start flying WITH people or limit my engagement parameters. Right! Headset sourced Teamspeak installed See you tonight after pub! (I will be the one no one can understand):drink::pilotfly::drunk: BTW - on the server list, the 104th seems to be the only open server with more than 6 people playing on it. Are there others not on that list? (51st, 3sqn, 159th, etc. don’t appear on my list)
  24. ERI Query Yoda. I really cant get on with the "auto snap" as it stops me bugging closely grouped targets in TWS mode, (keeps snapping to the already bugged PDT). Either i am doing it wrong, (probably), or its a design feature. Can you advise? Or tell me how to disable that feature as I love the other thngs it does, (azimuth tracking, etc). Also a dumb-ass question. What does the "target step" do. Does is swap PDT / SDT between bugged targets or is it a way of bugging multiple contacts. I have not been able to conclusively test this yet, ( I should set up a none lethal mission really :pilotfly:) If it does the latter then that solves my earlier problem!
