  1. Richard I have tried your method of using the Predator at 25,000 ft and it works well, I found the option to link up the last waypoint with the first so he keeps flying the 'box' circuit. Only problem is once he announces "flying over waypoint 2 or sometimes 3" he then says RTB and clears off ?? I've checked his fuel in the mission editor and it indicated full. Any idea what might be going on
  2. Great tutorial, thanks for posting it
  3. Leporello With this mission don't touch any radio frequencies they are already set. If you have Easy Communications ticked in the Gameplay Options menu it will work. When the sim loads and just after you press the un-pause button, imediately press the radio menu button, then press F1 'Wingman', then F1 again 'Navigation', then F1 'Anchor Here'. He should say 'Copy' and maintain a holding orbit, if he does this everything else should work. Make sure you are in 'Simulation mode' as oppossed to 'Game mode', I've never used Game mode so don't know if any radio commands are disabled. I have just re-tried this mission and it works exactly as I have said above. Edit : I assume we are talking about the 'Instant Action' Easy-East Georgia-Spring mission If it doesn't you must have a Options item incorrectly set (which one I don't know) or a faulty mission file.
  4. Hi Leporello The AI wingmen are very useful in this mission, I have used this a lot for training. What I tend to do is just after it starts I tell my wingman to 'hold position' that way he doesn't get in the way. I then take out the two trucks with guns (wpt 2), then at wpt 3 (patrol) I drop a GBU-12 midway between the two vehicles - that normally takes out the whole patrol, anything left standing I take out with guns. Wpt 4 (bridge) I fly at about 12,000 ft and hit the bridge with another GBU-12, no need to waste weapons on the two AAA units. Wpt 5 'Tanks' I task my wingman to clear the two Air Defence Units and all the tanks. Make sure you have wpt 5 as SPI, then if you are using Easy Communications bring up the comms menu and press F1 wingman, then F3 Engage With, then F4 Air defences, then F1 Missile, then F1 I use Default and your wingman will take out both Air Defences with Mavericks. Use the same sequence again ensuring your SPI is still at wpt 5 ( it may change if your CDU is set to auto cycle) but this time after F3 Engage With, select F2 (I think) Armour and tell him to use Guided Bombs - he will use the GBU-12 first (normally misses with one) then the GBU-38 JDAM's. You only need to tell him once and he will kill all the tanks. You then are given Wpt 6 The Column - make sure wpt 6 is set to SPI and use the same sequence as in wpt 5 for him to take out the two Air Defence Units in the column. I then tell him to RTB while I take out the rest of the column. When Instructing your wingman make sure the target area is set to SPI and use 'Engage With' and not just 'Engage' Hope this helps :)
  5. Gentlemen, Many thanks for your help its really appreciated. Your first answer Cibit threw me a bit, as I said I only had a very basic knowledge of the mission editor  Thanks for clarifying what you meant in the second answer. I prefer not to save a Fast Mission, just create and fly. I like the idea of just adding a Preditor, flying out of harms way that can direct me onto the available targets - thanks for the info Richard. I think initially I will give this a go for the Fast missions, then look at Cibits advice for any self created missions.
  6. I've tried a couple of the Campaign missions and have encountered some of the bugs like aircraft becoming stuck on the taxiways etc. So until these are fixed I am using the SP 'Fast Mission' option. I'm finding these pretty hard unless I have labels on, which I don't like as it's obviously not very realistic. I have created one or two missions with the Mission Editor, so I have a very BASIC grasp of this tool. How can I add a simple JTAC or FAC to the Fast Mission to make it a bit more playable. Thanks
  7. Hi Cibit Thanks for the slew key reminder
  8. Hi Jack Many thanks for the updated X52 profile, your hard work is much appreciated  A few of questions please :- Although I use TrackIR, I still also use the zoom function to pick out targets on the ground - do you use the default keyboard keys. Which keys do you use for TrackIR 'pause' and 'center' I previously had these set to T5 and T6 on the X52 I have loaded both your files correctly as per your instructions but I can't seem to get the Ministick 'slew' to work, everything else seems OK including the speedbrake. Any idea what I may be doing wrong  Edit : Ignor question three, I have just realised I re-assigned the slew keys to the 'arrow' keys. Can anyone tell me what the default slew keys are please, so I can re-assign them to default. GAJ52
  9. I have been doing all my training using the set missions. I now feel confident to have a go at the Campaign missions. When we start a Campaign mission is it normal practise to load the plane yourself in the Mission Planner. The reason I ask is I started the first mission in the first campaign and found myself sitting in the hangar with only 4 AGM-65D's and 5300 lbs of fuel loaded. I looked in the GUI Manual but it didn't give any guidance on starting a mission.
  10. Yes, they were there for most of the mission. The only time I noticed they were gone was during shutdown. Sorry I can't be more helpful :(
  11. I've been playing all through the beta's and never had this problem, I too am using a GTX460. Today (post patch) after a mission I came into land and parked up, then glanced down at the left consule and all the labels were missing.
  12. I haven't tried to use JTAC yet, just reading up on it now in the manual. With all the snippets I have read on this forum I haven't seen anything about using your wingman to attack a JTAC supplied target. Just curious how you would use your wingman when you have been given a specific target, or would you make him just orbit somewhere safe until needed for a more general task.
  13. Hi Ginsu80 I think you have found the answer  I tried the Instant Action mission Easy-East Georgia-Spring and the Steerpoint info in the HUD did say DTS next to the miles to go, with no CCIP Invalid displayed in the HUD. I then tried a Ramp Start mission, and as you described the Steerpoint ELEVATION was indicated on the HUD and not DTS - in my case 20m/6560. The CCIP Invalid was present all the time during the climb until I went through about 6400 ft then it disappeared. If I descended below 6560 it came back again. I continued flying at 4000 ft and tried the procedure you described on the UFC, when it displayed DTS the CCIP Invalid warning disappeared. I don't remember this happening with the Beta's so there may have been a setting changed during the Release version. What is this supposed to read Elevation or DTS ?
  14. Some really good advice coming on this thread - many thanks
  15. Thanks for your replies. The altitude has given me something to think about, when I use CCIP I normally have SPI set to steerpoint, unless I've selected a target for another reason. If I confirm its altitude that's causing the problem I'll reply back in this post.
  16. That's exactly what I was looking for - thanks for the link :) Seems to be lots of flying video's but not much on the mission editor which seems to be just as complicated. Thanks
  17. I nearly always use Ramp Start for a mission and with the Beta's had no real problem. Since the release of the final version I can't seem to use the CCIP bombing mode as there is no dashed Projected Bomb Image Line PBIL also CCIP Invalid is displayed on the HUD. This only happens when I start from the ramp so I'm obviously doing something wrong or in a wrong order, although I am using the official manual for starting. On page 392 of the manual it really only talks about this problem for guns. I have CDU Nav mode selected with EAC switch to Arm, all the switches on the AHCP are ON or ARM. Can't see what I'm doing wrong ?
  18. I've just had a go at creating my first 'very simple' mission. It was a two ship tour around the mountains where I placed a couple of tanks and AAA. After I saved the mission, I loaded it up for some tank bashing only to find the engines already running (it should have been a ramp start ), pressing F1 wouldn't let me into the cockpit, then they started taxiing by themselves. It finally dawned on me I forgot to select Pilot 1 as 'Player' and left it as AI. Anyway I decided to sit back and watch. After take off they cruised at 270 knts and 7500 ft, then I realised my second mistake, the mountains are about 9000 ft ...luckily they just managed to skim over the top. They made short work of the tanks and AAA with Mavericks before continuing back to the airfield. Pilot 1 though didn't quite make one of the mountains on the way home and crashed into the side of the mountain. This is just a short guide on how NOT to create a mission in the Mission Editor
  19. I have just been reading the Mission Editor manual, I thought the aircraft was complicated - the Mission Editer is definately on par with it  Can anyone point me to a tutorial to create a 'simple' mission where I can take off, bomb something then land again. Hopfully from this I will be able to gain some knowledge and dig deeper into the more advanced areas of this utility as time goes on.
  20. I tend to use it a lot as I haven't mastered the Mission Editor yet. Works quite well, although the other day I thought I had a boat to attack but realised when I got closer it was a line of 'trucks' ....in the sea ??
  21. Found it ! Its on page 249 of the manual, could find it before - Interestingly it says "Manual (Man) is the default flight plan sequencing mode" I have been using the Instant Action missions for training and its always been in Auto ? Thanks for your help guys :)
  22. Can someone please point me to the correct page in the CDU to set waypoint cycle to manual as opposed to the default auto mode. Many thanks
  23. I have asked this question before during the beta builds, but as work was still in progress no one was sure of the answer. I like to fly the Easy-East Georgia-Spring mission for training, as I haven't learnt to use the Mission Editor yet. Is it possible to select different ordnance for this mission so I can practice using different weapons on the mission targets ?
  24. Good advice EB, many thanks :)
  25. I have found the Startup training mission in video format (youtube). Anyone know if the rest are available on youtube, I often miss important bits of information when running these missions and can't go back to see what I missed without going through the whole mission again.
