  1. More like six months. 18 months would be the case if it was to be released in summer 2013, which it is not. From now to summer 2012 is approximately six months.
  2. Ahh, glad to hear that it's not a bug. Thank you for your prompt reply. Okay, I've tried starting up in the mission numerous times using just the method that you described. I have found that sometimes the blades intersect and break, while other times they spin up without contact. I am aware that fixed-wing pilots have specific instructions on yoke/stick and pedal positioning in relation to wind direction when on the ground; are there similar procedures for helicopter pilots? Such information would be very helpful for me in this case.
  3. I am running retail Black Shark 2. See track file. Is this a bug, or does it have something to do with the winter temperatures in the mission? winter mission bug2.trk
  4. Great video! The music really does complement the mood throughout. I'll say, you did better in this mission than I did a year and a half ago. One question: How did you get that flashing target icon on the ABRIS?
  5. I would like to clarify that Black Shark 2 failed to advance me in the campaign upon my completion of mission 2. Had I not committed to the tedious process of manually updating my logbook with notepad++, I would have been forced to replay the same mission that I had just completed in the hope Black Shark 2 wouldn't have experienced the same error as before and actually advanced me in the campaign. As we know, the campaigns included with Black Shark often do not have a linear progression; the outcome of a mission can determine which mission the player will be presented with next in the campaign. For this reason, being forced to manually update my logbook to advance in a campaign is impractical, for I do not know which next mission to load if the campaign that I am playing is currently not intended to progress in a linear format. When I do experience the problem of Black Shark failing to update my logbook, I notice on the results screen for the mission that, while all of the actions of all of the units on the battlefield are shown, they are all in white, and the attrition table shows no units destroyed. I ask again, does anyone have a solution to this problem?
  6. Hi, I just experienced a problem in which Black Shark 2 failed to update my logbook upon completing mission 2 in the campaign "Operation Medvedev II." I was able to manually update the logbook myself to advance to the next mission, but this is a problem that must be addressed. I have experienced this problem before with Black Shark 1. Is there anything that I can do to prevent the problem from occurring in the future, or is this a bug that is only solvable on the developers' end?
  7. Via alteration of the rotor blades' angle of attack. That is, clockwise rotation is initiated by increasing the angle of attack of the counterclockwise-rotating rotor disk, thus increasing clockwise torque. To offset the increase in lift of said rotor disk, the angle of attack of the other rotor disk is simultaneously decreased. Same thing for counterclockwise rotation; increase clockwise-rotating rotor disk's angle of attack, decrease other disk's angle of attack, in turn resulting in clockwise torque.
  8. I totally concur on what Bluepilot has to say. When I started playing Black Shark, all I had was a TrackIR and a Saitek Cyborg Evo Force. I had to constantly access the keyboard when working with the Shark's avionics and weaponry, and the overall quality of my control over the helicopter paled in comparison to that which my CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle, along with my Saitek pedals, now allow. And yet, I was having fun learning the sim and flying the beast. Heck, when I first really got into flight sims with IL-2, all I had was a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro 2. Much like with Black Shark later on, I had to contantly reach across the keyboard due to the stick's sheer lack of extra buttons. And without a TrackIR, I couldn't even maneuver from the cockpit! I would maneuver in external padlock view, and jump into the cockpit view on the fly to aim and fire my guns. It seems ridiculous now, but I was having fun with the game, and that is what was most important. I would NEVER have went out on a limb and purchased a HOTAS set with pedals and a TrackIR all at once without knowing if I'd get my money's worth out of it through on-going interest in flight sims in the long run. I've only purchased my equipment over the years because the interest that I acquired when I got into IL-2 has yet to die. I do not believe that most hardcore simmers today haven't ended up with all of their flight sim equipment through a similar process; casually trying out that sim that catches their eye, liking it, sticking with it, and eventually finding themselves to have sufficient interest in the genre that the asking price of that HOTAS setup they've been looking at is quite reasonable for them. And of course, let us not forget importance of accessibility of flight sims to the hardcore simmers as well as the more casual gamer crowds. Accessibility which is not gained through dumbing down the whole experience for everyone, but rather making the difficulty and complexity scalable, of which ED does quite well with their customizable difficulty options and game modes in their current line of modern flight sims. Such options are essential for Joe Everyman if we have any hope of him trying out the game and perhaps even developing a hardcore interest in flight sims!
  9. Huh, increasing my my cockpit and engine volume seems to have helped. Unfortunately, NATEIRL's file adds too much bass for my tastes; it's simply too out of balance with the higher-frequency sounds. Maybe I'll PM him, see if he can give me information on customizing the settings in the file...
  10. Title says it all. The new surround sound with the 1.1.0.8 update is simply not benefiting me at all, quite the opposite in fact. The bass has been reduced considerably; it no longer feels like I'm in the heart of a massive flying beast. Is there any way to set the audio to be more like it was in 1.1.0.7? I'd prefer to change the settings of a config file, but am willing to take a look at some mods if anyone has any suggestions. Or heck, is it possible to replace some 1.1.0.8 files with older 1.1.0.7 files to get the desired results? I'm using a Sennheiser PC350 headset set as stereo speakers, NOT full range. For a sound card, I'm using my EVGA X58's on-board audio. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
  11. I liked number 2; sad of an outcome as it may be, that they were able to get the plane down with the majority of the crew alive is miraculous. Kudos to the crew of United Airlines Flight 232; I don't know if I could have even done in a simulator what they managed in that dire situation.
  12. So it's confirmed that he's still alive?
  13. No problem. Clearly you put effort into the composition; I know I'd appreciate someone saying something if I was in your position.
  14. Pretty good. Makes me picture a person born into poverty, genocide, you name it, currently locked in the pursuit of liberty, opportunity, and happiness. "For I know one day, I will be there" "There" could be a physical destination with such the qualities the person seeks, or it could simply be the life status that the person desires.
  15. As of now, A-10C has been officially released and yet I continue to have this problem myself. Does anyone know of a fix?
  16. I do believe that you mean the leftmost switch among the row of switches in front of the cyclic, the former of which is part of the group of switches under the shkval display.
  17. If I may ask, where did you get that first quote from? I do not see the original post in this thread, nor do I see any posts by Eddie. Where are you getting this from? I've been keeping up on ED via their forums as well as news posted on external sites for the past few years and have encountered virtually nothing but praise for them. Frankly, they deserve this praise; I've been an avid ED fan since they released Black Shark and have come to the conclusion that they truly are passionate about study sims and care about satisfying their customers' wants so long as doing such does not change their products' genre altogether. Case in point: Some months ago when A-10C was was in an earlier stage in development, a user by the alias of Arne Anka made a proposal that ED have a competition among its userbase to develop singleplayer and multiplayer campaigns for the sim. ED discussed the idea internally, decided that it'd be a win-win situation for everyone and directly supported said competition. Source: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43761 Clear-cut evidence that ED does in fact care for its userbase. ;)
  18. Just finished this campaign. Bravo! Fantastic story, and good composition overall. One flaw to point out: On the mission where you are tasked to shoot down the two Hinds, the campaign said I failed the mission despite shooting down the two helicopters and returning to base. I believe the flaw is due to one of the helicopters doing an autorotation landing upon taking critical damage from my cannon; had I finished the chopper on the ground, I suspect it would have registered the kill and advanced me in the campaign. If such is the case, then I would suggest making a note in the briefing for the particular mission, stating that the player must destroy the choppers on the ground should one or both of them successfully land upon taking critical damage. One could easily integrate this note into the story by stating that the player must prevent the enemy's recovery of intact parts lest they possibly salvage them and fabricate a partially or fully functional Hind. Not to give any spoilers away, but the last mission of the campaign had me crying for the first time to a sim! No videogame has ever done that to me!
  19. Aha, I've got them working! Thank you very much for your help. Unfortunately, I had to do a reinstall of FC2 in the process since I accidentally ruined some files in my prior attempts at getting the mods working. Before the reinstall, I had increased the maximum angle of which I could rotate my head in the F-15. Being dumb, I neglected to write down instructions on how to do it...could someone help me with this? I suppose my second question is unrelated to the first, but I decided to post in the thread I just made rather than start a new one for this problem.
  20. Hi, I'm trying to install the F-15 cockpit and 3D model available in the Eagle Dynamics download section for Flaming Cliffs 2. However, I can't seem to figure out where I'm supposed to stick all of the files. Seeing as there are no installation instructions in the readme for each of the mods, could someone provide some for me?
  21. Hi, How might I enable the unclickable retry button that shows on the debriefing screen at the end of each mission in my FC2 campaigns?
  22. Thank you very much. :)
  23. Hi, In the Flaming Cliffs 2 mission editor, I accidentally messed up the F-15 DACT mission in which you go 1 vs 1 against a MiG-31 in a BVR engagement. I am unable to fix the mission so that it works as it did before. Could someone please provide a replacement copy of this mission? That would be much appreciated.
  24. LOL Typical Japanese craziness mixed with Lock-On! =D
  25. Oh my, that's very impressive! Who says the voice isn't an instrument? Haha As one of the commenters on the page said, this truly is art.
