  1. This has been happening to me since the last update every time I try and replay a track. Single player. Log attached. Doesn't crash, but briefly states "mission load fail" before just hanging unresponsive at "Terrain init: 1.vti". I have to force DCS close from TM or closing the window from the taskbar. dcs.log

  3. I just happened on this from a search, I was going to ask if there was a way in the ME to force the deck lights on, as I'm given a Case 1 approach, it's daylight but the carrier is just a dark blob with no lighting!
  4. Thank you so much for the response and all the info. I’m sorry I wasn’t aware it contained mods, I thought I had a clean build now, guess I need to look at that again. I’m now away with my work but I’ll plug it all in when I’m back Friday. Also thanks for the link to the manual for the ME - I honestly didn’t know there were such manuals, I’ve only ever seen Chucks Guides and YT tutorials!!
  5. I am trying to get the S3B to launch as support for a CAP/strike package. I have tried starting it in the air or takeoff from runway. I can't find any detailed instructions for this task, but the couple of YT videos make it look simple. Thing is, I cannot communicate with it. It doesn't appear on the comms menu as available, even when tuned (I've got easy comms on anyway) I'm unsure what needs to be where in terms of waypoint commands, but I've tried issuing the Recovery tanker task on the 2nd of 2 WPs, the 1st & 2nd, and even the standard Refuelling task on 1 and Recovery on 2. It still refuses to make itself available on the radio. It might be something really stupid I'm missing I'm no ME expert but if anyone could take a look at my mission file I'd really appreciate it.   6. Marking this as "solved" since I discovered the Recovery Tanker option, so the thing does at least climb now, but I now have zero comms with it - it doesn't show up on the comms menu as available despite being the correct freq. Will start a new thread as it's a different issue?
  7. It's an S3B, they fly even slower in some missions! It seems to be doing 290 in any case so it's ignoring my 250kts as well. Thanks for having as look. Modules are SC, FA-18C, AV8B Syria Map SC Syria4.miz
  8. Not sure if this is a bug or a lack of understanding on my part, but I've asked my tanker to depart from carrier, go to WP2 at 12000ft and fly racetracks to tank. It does the latter correctly, but at about 18-1900ft! I have tried other altitudes but no avail. Any ideas anyone?

  10. Thanks again all for the help. Since then I have well and truly cracked it an am back plugging in/out at leisure as I was before... BUT I have now gotten used to holding my stick with thumb & forefinger only, which I never really was comfortable with before, even when I could do it, and it's been a revelation as I can now make tiny inputs seemingly by thought alone. My curves incidentally are set to 3, with deadzone 0. Turns out every update zaps preset curves, so even though i thought I'd set them years ago I'd been flying with a bit fat 0!
  11. I am trying to cycle through the different units on a SC template mission to make changes, eg the S3B Tanker is orbiting at 1000ft so I want to make it higher. I can see on the ME screen on the cat multiple types all stacked on top of each other eg the AWACS the Tanker and multiple F18s. When I click to edit them though all I have available is the top F18 flight. I can't see any drop-downs that would help. I can't drag the top one away from the Cat to get to the next below etc. Anyone know please?
  12. Thanks all who've replied to help me above. I have had a little progress today. Funnily enough I ended up taking my curves right down, and have had a few successful plug-ins and even got a full bag, though the S3 in a turn still eludes me I'll keep on it. Still very annoying given how little time I have for hobbies to have to "waste" so much effort just to get me back to near where I was before, instead of learning a new system or AC. No pleasing some people is there lol!
  13. I've invested many hours/days trying to re-learn AAR in this module after the update and I'm going to give up soon. Maybe it was mickey mouse before but it was still a challenge to master and after a while I could do it with my eyes closed. Just can't get it now, tried every curve setting (TM Warthog) but always get PIO and overcorrecting even using only thumb and forefinger at top of stick. No improvement whatsoever. I'm in awe of you guys who can just nail it now after 10 minutes of retraining on the new model. Shame as aar was one of my favourite DCS pastimes.
  14. I've just updated DCS, but for some reason it will no longer open DCS with VR ON (open XR, WMR) anymore - just opens it in screen mode. I can only run it in VR from the desktop icon. I did note sometimes before thje update the first time I would try to run VR from the updater it would open flatscreen, then the second attempt would work. Now it never plays. Any ideas? Thanks
  15. EDIT: That was it. I use F-Secure and although I'd already whitelisted the DCS.exe in the Bin folder (having been running it from the Bin-MT folder for months) I had to whitelist the DCS.exe in that folder as well for this update. Strange, but at least it runs now so thanks
  16. At no point does it look like anything opens. Tried Repair, then Clean (deleting all extra files) Log attached dcs.log
  17. I just did the update too, and now have same issue, DCS will not start. No error given.
  18. Thank god for that! I thought I was going insane. At least I know it's not me. Do you also know why, having requested wingmen to attack groups 1 and 2 but they fail to take out all 3 units in each group it is impossible to ask them to repeat the attack? Well, you can ask, but it says not possible. I'll have another look at mission 3 and get back to you. Thanks for looking into it.
  19. I'm about to call it a day on this campaign now. Must have tried mission 3 30 times (reported the odd behaviour but Eagle86 can't reproduce it) and now I'm declaring this mission unwinnable. Tried exactly what MrYeti describes above, as well as trying to take them out myself (not enough time with Laser bombs sequentialy and IR mavs will ALWAYS have you shot down by a SAMby the time you get a lock. Any combination of me ordering my wingmen together or separately to attack the sabotage groups will leave something not destroyed, and once I have ordered them once to attack one group or another any further attempt tells me they are unable to complete the task, then in a ridiculously short time period surviving unit miraculously is able to spawn next to it and "plant charges on the bridge" even though TGP shows no target near the bridge, which 30 seconds later becomes bridge blown game over. Arghhhh!

Glad I found this thread, I’ve invested days trying to get IR mavs to work reliably and predictably, but as the op says, on handover from Tpod, the (admittedly tiny) Ir signature of the target will be there under an open Mav targeting cross with no lock. SS fwd to designate IRMV then TDC down will cause the mav to fly off and lock onto something literally miles away in any direction, and the tiniest of attempted movement of the TDC will cause such a huge movement of the Mav targeting box it’s nigh on impossible to control. Sometimes I’ll get lucky and I’ll get a lock at ridiculously short range but by then I’m dead from a stinger or the rather deadly accurate fire from a BMP! I honestly cannot believe this weapon system is functioning as designed, although to be fair my AI wingmen can lock & rifle at far greater ranges than me!

Current OpenBeta (after skipping takeoff as it is the only way to get my wingmen off the Tarawa) this has happened 3 times in a row now, WP1 I destroy the APC, then when instructed to engage the infantry on the ground, making sure I have waited for all the instructions to finish, I instruct Wingman 1 to attack the infantry via the F10 menu (I want to save my Jdams for the armoured targets at the other WPs), he destroys them successfully and I get the above error.
  22. Thanks for that. Unfortunately my issue is reading the screen in-cockpit. Unfortunately I'm yet to find a solution. My workaround is the only mode where I can see anything is FLIR with BHOT. Everything else is just a dark screen even after playing with the new brightness/contrast defaults
  23. Oh I wasn't aware of that, thanks I will have a look. I did a repair yesterday to fix a separate problem with no comms menu!
  24. Not sure when it happened as I've been away from DCS for a few years. Day mode, the BRT settings are turned up to max, the legends on the screen get bright but there is so little contrast on the actual screens they are almost pitch black (green) and you can't see anything - eg can just about make out a ship when close enough. Any ideas?
  25. Sorry for the total noob question (anybody?) but having just installed the latest version I cannot for the life of me see where I tell it where my build path is? It has to be obvious but i can't see it. Any pointer appreciated!
