  1. Just got my index last week and was previously using a Rift S. Since I can, I use 120hz for iRacing. However it looks like the refresh rate in SteamVR cannot be set per application and is global. I started DCS and noticed that my framerate would never go above 40fps, even with the graphics set at absolute minimum. With my rig this made no sense. On a whim, I lowered it back to 90Hz in steamvr and viola, framerate 45fps steady. So is anyone else seeing the same? It's probably not the best to run at 120Hz with all the reprojection anyway but I think it is something DCS peeps should be aware of.
  2. I've had an O+, Rift S, and now Index. No way would I ever go back to the first two. One thing that I have noticed right off the bat it the smoothness in tracking on the Index, even with fps variations in certain areas, the tracking remains smooth. With the other two, the tracking would be effected by those variations, like little micro stutters. I had my 2 lighthouses mounted in the corners of my room (7ft on the walls) in under 15 min and configured the system in another 15 mins. Worth it. The controllers take some getting used to, but I love 'em. So intuitive after a couple hours of rewiring your brain to not always gripping the controller to prevent them from hitting the ground. I don't get the whole can't click the joystick if it's a certain distance from center thing...must be the console controllers guild raising a ruckus.
  3. Rift S has a much sharper image than the O+, just for that it is worth the upgrade, the sweet spot is larger. I can see gauges much more clearly in the Rift S. Would not go back to the O+ Black levels are better on the O+ and it has less SDE. (But the sharper image of the Rift S makes text more easily readable to me.) O+ has manual IPD, Rift S in software. This really doesn't bother me because I know my IPD but I can see where getting it set perfect can be a pain if you don't know it. Also the minimum IPD I had on the O+ was 60.4, the Rift S is much lower than that as well. Comfort Rift S has the O+ beat here too. The O+ is hard to adjust so that you don't get pressure on the front of your head. Tracking the Rift S is better with more cameras, smoother and loses track less easily. Sound, the O+ wins handily...Rift S I recommend the Mantis headphones, clip right on. Do that and it's on par with the O+ I returned my O+ for the Rift S and I would do it again....now just to wait until my index gets here in a few months lol
  4. I'm having issues with Viacom at the moment, the main one being that a command will be recognized one time and then not for the rest of the flight. For example, Huey on the rebel base mission. I say radio check, wingman will reply. Wait about a minute and radio check, nothing....wait again, nothing. I have one PTT setup for the second stage of the Warthog stick, Viacom setup for norm on the PTT page setup and only tx1 shown in the list Looking at the VA output, I see nothing in between the listening start/end entries on commands made after the first one succeeds. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes I will get mic clicks when depressing the PTT and releasing. Sometimes not. I see the PTT messages in VA so I know it's detecting it. I am running VA as admin, I have gone through training the commands three times and all return with a 95% or higher response. So I have no confidence anything will work after the first command. VA works perfectly in that "other" sim so I know VA is setup properly. Any ideas? Thanks
  5. I enabled motion reprojection and lost fps, Disabled and I get steady 45 now with the best visuals I can get, whereas with it on, it would be all over the place. PD 1.0 SS in steamvr 250% MSAA 2x AF 16x (dropped to 8x and didn't notice a difference so it stays) Preload max trees half grass half Textures high MFD res: 1024 water medium Depth of Field standard Shadows lowest setting Best I can remember without looking at it. But I found upping the SS in steamvr and lowering the PD in DCS gave better results than just upping PD in DCS. The gauges seem much clearer this way. Sure I could probably tweek a bit more but right now I'm happy...just wish the MFDs were clearer. Not sure I can do much with that even at the cost of fps
  6. I'm the same way, I can handle any type of motion except reading when in the passenger seat of a car...and VR made me nauseous just looking at the screens. I got it a week ago and I've gradually built up some immunity so now I can fly without issue, playing Onward however is still a challenge. 24h Dramamine might have helped a bit as well. lol
  7. USA....I saw that, but if you do a live update it says coming soon, shipment expected on the 27th
  8. Where the heck are you guys getting the Reverb? I haven't seen it available anywhere.
  9. No problem Eduardo, I appreciate you looking at this. Maybe someone from ED will see this and work on something, because I'm pretty sure there are quite a few people in my situation.
  10. I do and I make use of it :) The vertical is my biggest problem in that I can't move my head down far enough to get to the closer to the edge buttons and switches. For example it's hard to see the controls for the ECM in front of the stick. Ah, ok that gives me a path, thank you. As far as planes, I fly quite a few but I'd also like to dig into the views and the learn a bit of lua, been looking for a excuse to do that :) If you have one for the 18, I can hands on the others base on that. Thanks much
  11. Hi all, A couple years ago I had to have neck surgery to fuse two vertebrae together in my neck. I have about 140 deg of head movement left/right and about the same up/down. Anyway, I just got a VR headset and am kinda disappointed that I cannot view many parts of the consoles, I thought it would be possible with snap views, but none of them work in VR. I know it's kinda immersion killing, but it's panels that you wouldn't access very often at all. I thought maybe there'd be an option headset wise to accelerate movement kinda like trackir, granted heavy use would be nauseating, but a momentary switch for that could work. Anyone have any options...I haven't been able to find anything, and I think I'm probably not the only one in this situation.
  12. With my specs in my sig, and a PD set to 1.5, I'm getting around 40-45 fps in most aircraft in single player. That's about all I can squeeze out of it without making it look like a pixel jigsaw puzzle.
  13. Yes in DCS , but for other games such as Onward i'd like to be able to use discord at the same time because standing up in VR searching for my PTT button on my mouse while in VR is a pain. Helps to communicate before setting up the MP session as well.
  14. I'm still tweaking it, my biggest problem right now is jumpy head tracking. Not sure if it's a performance/DCS thing or a headset thing with the internal tracking. No other games give me trouble with tracking so the tweaking continues.
  15. Well that was it, thanks man. I guess I could mess with the settings to see what I could come up with.
  16. Odyssey + I did map keys to the UI Layer and all it does is make the menu flash. I also have Open VR Advanced installed, dang I hope that's not it because I want to use it to setup push to talk keys to Discord. It's a pain when all your buddies are on discord and you have to search for your keyboard while in VR to talk to them. But I'll try to uninstall and see what happens. Thank you for the help
  17. I just got my first VR headset yesterday, when I start DCS, it puts me in the Hangar with the main menu behind me and on the ground. I've tried VR Center and I stay in the same position, it just makes the menu flash behind me. I've tried setting my space to sitting only, same thing. It can't be this hard right? Thanks for any suggestions.
  18. This way this is going, we gonna wind up with an F16A instead.
  19. Think the Cougar doesn't have the push button on the CMS switch as well.
  20. We are also asking ED for direction on what more they want us to provide, because we've provided ample evidence of an issue in those tracks and videos and I honestly can't understand the "dismissal" of this problem.
  21. I've provided 2 tracks which clearly demonstrate the issue, 2nd post in this thread is with the version after the latest update before the last hotfix and my 2nd track upload is the latest version. If you would like me to perform some more tracks with specific steps I can
  22. I am suspicious that this may have something to do with distance maybe? In this track I target tanker Texaco and also have TACAN up, while I could not reproduce the goofy TACAN stuff I mentioned before in this track, you do see that I have Texaco locked up and the designator will be off until I get to about 7 miles and then I get a proper lock. I then play with dogfight modes and something seems off here as well but I'm not sure on the parameters of locking up something in those modes. Anytime you see the unlock, that is me doing that so that's not the radar loosing track. So in the same mission, I can reproduce the issue AND get proper locks on the same target at a later time (could be distance or just a red herring) f18Radar.trk
  23. Here is something even more interesting. I fly a training mission with carrier and a few tankers about (same one in my track on post 2) TACAN is also behaving the same, I tune it to the tanker and head for it, only to find no tanker there. I'm doing 500+ knots towards the TACAN source and the distance is barely reducing and when I get there, the TACAN goes indicator on the hud goes to 6 o'clock like I passed the tanker....only there was no tanker there. See if I can't reproduce and get a shorter track for that.
  24. I have two lines in that file, one for SRS and one for Tacview and I commented each out and no joy. I also turned off tacview export in the menus. I figured if anything tacview might have something to do with it since DCS exports flight data for it...but also no joy. I find it really odd that no official comment (even as simple as we are aware and are working on it) has been made on such a game breaking bug for many people, especially since we have spent our own time troubleshooting and have provided ample evidence in track files that there is an issue.
  25. Hmm, you might be on to something, the mission I made only had one bandit in it, Inferno and the Persian Gulf training mission I downloaded from user files don't work and they have tankers and awacs by default so there are many planes in the air. But, if it were just target count then I think we'd have more complaints from multiplayer...maybe it just number of AI planes. I haven't done any multiplayer lately, might just jump on the 104th and see what happens. Also add a few bandits to my test mission.
