  1. I have a mix, all but one (the other flight sim) have plugins....not sure If I can list them as I've had my hand slapped on these forums for doing similar. Oh, believe me I've slowed my speech down to try to get things to go through, so much so I would imagine if anyone in the house heard me they'd call an ambulance.
  2. I would say I'm average speed on speaking, I can give it a shot. Actually the racing sim profile that I have has quite a bit of functions like that, such as changing the tire pressure in a specific tire to a specific pressure, or in one phrase tell the pit crew to do certain things but not others. The other one I use for another flight sim has almost the same complexity in phrase composition as Viacom, in fact some instances more. But I will give VSPX a go and see what happens, thanks for the tip
  3. Ok, thanks for the info. I've done the speech training many, many times as I do some dictation for work. But if it's using the same speech recognition, I'm at a loss as to why I don't have any issues whatsoever with other profiles I use. One for another flight sim and paid ones for a well known online racing sim and two space sims and a such painful experience with recognition with Vaicom? When it does work, it does work very well. I don't want to seem like I'm bashing Vaicom into the ground, just trying to figure it out the difference
  4. I purchased Vaicom quite some time ago and I had issues and gave up with it not recognizing pretty much everything I said, but I'm trying it again. So I went through the training with MS speech trainer, that didn't help much. Then I went through most of the phrases in Vaicom training and it took me HOURS (without the airfields, because they scare me to even try), sometimes it would take over 20 or so tries to get even the most simple phrases to work. Kneeboard and request hover took almost 15min of trying each before they took. I have a slightly southern US accent and most people can't even detect it. I have several profiles for other games, some paid some not and I've never had to train VA in this manner for even the most complicated phrases. I tested just a simple profile with the word "request refuel" and just VA picked it up easily. If I do the same in VAICOM, it doesn't even come close. My certainty is set a 50% like the docs say, so what could be the problem here, is Vaicom using a different mechanic to recognize speech than normal VA? I'd like to get this sorted out as it seems to be an excellent addition to DCS.
  5. It seems as though it has. He has v2 now which is what is in the video above looks like. The email I received after going on the list says: "We are currently starting production for PointCTRL Version 2, and our goal is to have all preorders shipped within 60 days."
  6. I get ya, I've got 2 Thrustmaster MFDs that I use for well, MFDs in the aircraft that has them. It's easy enough to feel the buttons. With aircraft without MFDs I sometimes use them for other switches, but it just doesn't feel right. I went ahead and signed up on the list for PointCTLR...email said hopefully shipping within 60days...we will see, I have a swivel chair so I can just swivel around if I need to and not have to strain to hold onto the mouse for the clicking. Looks like it may have uses outside of DCS since it emulates a mouse.
  7. Does anyone else notice this? In general I get lower VR performance in the Gazelle than the Huey, I guess there is some optimization room there, but turning my head past this leather strap is really noticeable on the micro stutters. And in the L this is really annoying because you are in general sliding your head to the right side so you can see past the sight.
  8. That looks to be the most cost effective solution, too bad the waiting list is so long (time wise)
  9. Here is the thing, lets say I'm trying to flip a switch on the back right panel of the 16 or the blackshark, I have to twist my head and body so far so see the panel that it's hard to keep my hand on the mouse (right handed), much less have the precision to click an individual switch.
  10. Ok, so I've found out that trying to hold onto a mouse and twist my neck and body (I'm old) to reach switches in hard to reach places isn't feasible even when on the deck. I have an index with both controllers, but it's a bit cumbersome to switch between controller and HOTAS just to flick a switch. Yea I could just bind a switch on the throttle for common switches, but then you are going by feel in VR and that ain't really efficient either I've looked at captoglove and vrfree, the former is on backorder but price is ok, the latter is pretty expensive I realize there is probably not an ideal solution for every situation but are there any better options than what I've mentioned
  11. That's why HOTAS is so important, one reason I prefer the 16 to the 18, I can navigate the MFDs much more effectively (ehem 16 with a functional DTC ) Of course not all functions on the MFDs translate to HOTAS buttons but the important ones that would be used during combat are, everything else is more than likely done under autopilot or when trimmed out. Not sure on how the HOTAS aspect works on the AH-64, but with all those controls I would hope the pilot can do the job without pressing MFD buttons.
  12. Will have to make use of those rocker switches instead I guess. Honestly without screens on the TM MFDs sometimes it's harder to press the right button vs just clicking it in the virtual cockpit. (esp in VR)
  13. Well some will need to get ready to do the panties and periscope jeep driving trick (Firebirds, the Top Gun of attack helicopters)
  14. I hope they get VR performance to a non pull out hair experience before this goes EA. If so, i'll be there with the $$ I wanted to fly these IRL, it was my dream, but they don't like diabetics in the armed forces soooo this is all I gots.....don't let me down DCS.
  15. Just out of curiosity, if you have the F16 and PG, what are you guys getting for fps at start and then what does it drop to on taxi before the right hand turn on the island mission? I would say this is probably the most hardware demanding mission I've ever seen other than MP.
  16. I have the same MB as you, already turned it off....one of the things I did even before I got VR. Already did BIOS and driver updates on the MB/Vid Card. I've done it all, read countless posts, reinstall of the OS, turned off all the gaming stuff in Win 10....power management, tried every nvidia driver, steam vr or dcs open beta update as soon as they come out to see if it changes anything. Even tried a USB 3x card vs using the onboard one which is known to cause issues (more on the Rift S than others) I've done all kinds of benchmarks on it and burn in tests, it scores above or matches similar hardware. Every time I see others posting up their settings I give it a shot to see what if anything changes. In your case the motion smoothing which I don't think I ever tried as most others I've read say leave it off. I've been building computer systems since the XT days and this is one of the few things I've never been able to figure out.
  17. I've already wiped/reinstalled, actually I've done that twice over the last 6 monts. I've been fighting this since I got VR and several VR headsets, O+, Rift S and now the index. All of them had FPS issues and only with DCS. I just ran a simple mission from a smaller runway in the Caucasus, runway just E of Kutasi...can't remember the name. Had 45 FPS until I started moving down the taxiway, then it bounced between 25ish and 45 with tons of stutters....and looking down the runway I only got 15fps. While sitting in the hangar on startup, 2 f16s taxied in front of me, both were stuttering past. Getting in the air it does better on very simple missions, but multiplayer...forget about it. I have nothing other than DCS running, no streaming, no nothing.
  18. I'd rather not be if it fixed my fps :) It seems if I up the res to compensate for no MSAA, I take a bigger hit. Now going from 2x to 4x that is a no-no for me.
  19. My Settings: SteamVR: 1.9.13 (I've tried Beta/Release with no difference) General tab: 100% SS, no motion smoothing Video tab: 100% SS, no motion smoothing 90Hz So basically I am using the native resolution of the index for all my applications. DCS settings PD: 1.0 MSAA: 2x (I find this makes the cockpit instruments easier to read over upping the resolution and there is no noticeable performance hit for me) View distance: medium Trees: 30% AF: 16x (I don't see a change in lower values, plus it seems to reduce shimmers quite a bit) shadows: low dirt...: off cockpit lighting: off Nvidia settings are default or application controlled. I too have set prefer max performance. version: 441.66 which is the latest. I've not seen a difference in performance over the last 6 months of driver releases. My fps never goes above 45, and will drop to low 10s while on the ground at larger airfields (the first mission in the F16 list) Using FPSVR, It is using > 90% of the CPU, and around 80% of the GPU and 10GB out of 11 on the VRAM. Reprojection is at 55%ish I also do iracing, and can run at 144Hz if I wanted. the CPU load is extremely heavy in iracing, GPU not so much, Elite dangerous I can run at max graphics with no fps issues, so I would think if there was something so wrong with my hardware/settings/drivers/etc that I would have issues with other games/simulations.
  20. Following those instructions, my framerate dropped from 45 to 30FPS and now getting "tearing" with either head or jet movement. I never get above 30FPS with these, however...I assume that is from motion smoothing holding it steady which also may causing the tearing Visibility to gauges may have gotten a bit better but the downsides outweigh that aspect. Perhaps you should also include your nvidia settings as well as those can make a difference. I've played around with settings for months. I know my machine isn't top of the line any longer, but DCS is pretty much unplayable in VR for me in even single player....multiplayer it is an even more a disaster.
  21. I run with a PD of 1.0 and a SteamVR SS of 100% MSAA is 2x (none makes things unreadable) I still have to UI zoom to see a lot of stuff clearly...which I hate but I can't do anything about that without killing fps more. Everything else is whatever the VR default is, I increased/decreased my preload to max and it didn't make any difference. Stutters come and go even with the fps steady at 45 (I run 90Hz), but mainly noticeable when taxiing (during the taxi tutorial) and when I take off and fly around the airfield the fps drops. Over the water it can climb to 70ish. I've already cleaned out my shader cache as I always do after an update. Keep in mind it's not just the Viper that I see this, and I had it with my Rift S and OD+ Every other VR game I have I can run at max or almost max graphics (Elite, iRacing, PCARS2, Onward, etc with no issues)
  22. You guys have seriously got to work on VR performance, it just kills the immersion. I've got a pretty descent machine as seen in my sig and there are still micro stutters on the runway and framerate drops over the airfield and other places up to 50% My graphics settings are set pretty conservatively and I don't think I could go any lower. Beautiful jet, but please work on VR performance.
  23. Video passthrough would be worse than by feel. Depth perception even with the Index is a little off. I have MFDs that I use with non vr sims and I used with DCS before getting VR. I can use the MFDs by feel, but it is much easier to just use the VR controller or mouse to hit the buttons.
  24. I've used settings even lower than the ones set by the VR button and it never gets above 40 when using 120Hz refresh.
  25. I'm running a PD of 1.0 in DCS and 100% in SteamVR...so I'm not using any SS at all at this time. I've even used the lowest settings in DCS and can't get over 40fps unless I use 90Hz..(although I haven't tried 144Hz yet. Really odd behavior. I removed everything steamVR related and reinstalled when I switched from the Rift S to make sure all was clean. But just changing refresh rate shouldn't have this behavior.
