OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Screenshot of the Week

No need to pick up the pitchforks and torches guys. As BN stated above we are and always have been in contact with ED. The core engine is a constant work in progress, ED has been doing a great job in enhancing it and making it an ever more feature rich environment. The code of a module heavily relies on the core engine, when certain parts of the engine code are changed it might interfere with the module. Both ED and Polychop have been working on a more streamlined way of testing and communication to prevent situations like these over the past months. Even though significant improvements on both internal testing and communications have been made, this one caught us by surprise. Our first priority is to repair the newly introduced bugs while we work out how to prevent this from happening again with ED. Rest assured ED has reached out and is working with us on this.

Distance to Target not shown anymore when Lasing
Polychop Simulations replied to TheFlyGuy's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
We regret the RWR and camera symbology have been bugged this update. We found out too late in the patch cycle to fix this before the release of the update. The bugs stem from updates of the DCS core engine code and it is up to us to figure out exactly what has changed and how to fix this. We hope to release a hotfix as soon as possible. -
The Gazelle is now the only flyable DCS aircraft..
Polychop Simulations replied to Dr Zaius's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
You can be certain that the moment we are confident of a release date we will share it with the community. Right now the Kiowa is still very much in development and we stand by our decision to only release it when we think it is done in such an extent that the flight model is correct and all systems are functional and mission capable. That is not to say some features won't be expanded after release. We won't be playing games with hints towards an imminent release, we will in fact communicate the release window when we know we're getting close. :) -

No news on the Gazelle FM, as has been stated before, the system we developed for the Kiowa will be ported over and adjusted for the Gazelle once it is done. We're still very much developing and perfecting the new flight model system though. It will be implemented as soon as it is done. In the mean time we're still adding features and fixing bugs not related to the flight model of the Gazelle.

Hi Sirrah, We're around, answering questions and making statements a lot on here, discord and facebook equally. Maybe a bit more on various discords than on forums because there is more direct interaction in a real time chat so follow-up questions get answered almost immediatly. We're at a point in the development process where we're working solely on the flight model which is very important, in fact our highest priority, but is not something you can really show but have to feel. As quoted by Ramsay in this very thread. It's a tedious process of disabling parts of the flight model just to focus exclusively on certain aspects and test and adjust very specific values. Right now we're focused on ETL values and behaviour for example. When we get back to the systems side of things it will generate more news worthy subjects.

Kiowa practice, use Huey or Balck Shark?
Polychop Simulations replied to gdotts's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
That is only with force feedback enabled though. We will look in to FFB with the new flight model. -

The Gazelle has an auto-hover autopilot mode, the Kiowa does not. The Kiowa module however has an AI pilot that allows you, if you chose to, to be the left seater while the AI pilot flies for you. It is advanced yet limited, it can never truly replace a human pilot on the controls. But some of the things it can do include following the flight plan, hold a turn, follow terrain and it can hold a hover. Using the AI pilot is completely optional.

The price has not been discussed yet. The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior module will release feature complete though, so no early access. By feature complete we mean that all systems will be available and working on the release date. When it is released it will be fully mission capable. That doesn't mean we will stop adding or refining features as they become available in DCS World updates.

Question about the NS 430 integration into the Gazelle
Polychop Simulations replied to kotor633's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
No it won't be free. ED will release a Gazelle specific module like any other 3d implemtation. When they release it is up to them, we don't have control over it. The work is done on our side though. Kind of hoped it would be released with the update today. -
We’re aiming for a release in 2020.

Question about the NS 430 integration into the Gazelle
Polychop Simulations replied to kotor633's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
It is the 3d integration of ED's NS430 module as you can see in the screenshot posted in the sitrep thread. So no pop-up, but 3d integration like in the Mi-8. -
Gazelle 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 updates
Polychop Simulations replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Sitrep 09-14-2020 NS430 integration In the upcoming open beta patch, integration of the NS430 module in to the SA-342 Gazelle is completed. Whether the SA-342 NS430 module will be released around the same time is up to Eagle Dynamics. Even though the Gazelle features extensive navigation avionics in the form of the NADIR, the NS430 offers among other things a more visual experience. With the 3D implemantion the NS430 is VR compatible. People not interested in the NS430 module will not notice much of a difference except for visual mounting brackets on top of the instrument panel hood. Adjustable gunsight brightness With the lighting engine changes by Eagle Dynamics, the gunsight reticle as well as the Mistral reticle became radiating laser beams that would burn your eyes while using night vision goggles while they became hard to see during the day. The brightness can now be adjusted from 0% to 100% brightness using the brightness dial on the weapons panel. Gunsight glass opacity fix Somewhere along the line of many updates the glass of the aiming system had become super reflective. We've fixed the issue but sadly didn't make the deadline for the period in which we are allowed to submit files for the upcoming patch. This fix will be in the next but is also available as a downloadable hotfix on the Polychop Discord. -

Hey Kev2go, the DCS OH-58D Kiowa Warrior module is modelled after the version used in 2017. -
Gunsight is a known issue, the brightness that is, what other textures are you refering to? In the next patch the brightness will be adjustable.
