  1. This was definitely me on release. The funny thing is that now one of my favorite things to do in BFM is troll Hornet by flying slow at high AoA and doing it better than them. I got comfortable with the Rudders, then comfortable with cross control stalls, then comfortable with safe use of the big flaps. The Tomcat gives a pilot a lot of options.
  2. What does that actually do, I have yet to feel like it's needed.
  3. Try the Harrier where the probe is 90 degrees to your left.
  4. There was a statement of "We saw everything in the sky, no matter what it was made of" that very much indicates seeing stealth aircraft. Given that it could see a tanker with trailing fighters at longer range than the APG-71 could...
  5. Oh yeah, I forgot about that bug. Can't it end up adding like 20,000lb to your weight?
  6. Check your AoA when you are stuck at low speed. Had a friend with the same problem in the F-15.
  7. I've found that I can be rock steady and all trimmed up on downwind, have a nice steady base turn, but instantly start ballooning once I get to short final. And as I type this I realize I had to do a fresh install and I might have not unchecked the Burble which IIRC means landing on the SC means I get 2x Burble.
  8. Getting some practice in before a tourney
  9. Thanks. That cleared it right up for me.
  10. Are you saying that IRL the Phoenix goes active at the same range no matter what and the switch tells it which range gate to look at for a return of the target?
  11. So the cockpit needed more calibration, and you are just the Turian for the job.
  12. Come to think if it, I did and didn't realize it. I did a quick mission and had some issue locating a costal target, had trouble locating the coast. I would have had no issue if the water was glowing. So by it not standing out as a glaring annoyance I presume it must be fixed.
  13. HB has also been public that the Phoenix pallet in the tunnel is included in baseline weight and drag, even when not carried. EDIT* DCS limitation AFAIK, I can't think of any non ED planes where pylons can be removed. If you know of any, let me know.
  14. Phoenix up high, Sparrow down low
  15. Me before Trailer drop: "I'll wait for the Naval Phantom, but I'm glad they are doing the F-4E." Me after the Trailer drop: "My mustache just grew three sizes and I think I'm pregnant..."
  16. chat over radios doesn't work in the Harrier? what a bummer I was looking forward to that
  17. Part of the Tomcats MMHPFH issue was financial to be sure. If Congress doesn't buy spares then you can repair jets and they have terrible reliability. Congress tried to kill the Tomcat before it ever entered service. Other part of the issue is being a 60s design. As I heard on one podcast a Mx panel on a Tomcat might have 40-100 screws which the Hornet has three push-to-release latches.
  18. ^this. I've done some HEAVY take offs in the B and not hit the water. Only time I needed burner in the B was when I did a 108% MGTOW cat-free launch off the deck (stern to bow) and even that required timing the use of the flaps and holding a precise AoA. and to reply to @IronMike the A model is where I go when I feel the need for speed.
  19. counter question, have you ever felt the need for burner on a cat shot?
