Here's the thing, in cases like this story the pilot has the speeds right because he can look at those, but he did not have a stopwatch that he timed it with. Think about simply saying the words he used out loud and it's easy to see it as "The plane accelerated (large accurate speed difference) in (a surprisingly short period of time)" The performance was in reality enough to shock him, so much so that he has to make up the time as something unrealistically short just to convey how it felt to him.

This is where you need to do a sanity check. The pilot is describing a 2.5G acceleration which is not possible. He is exaggerating.

The hardest part of all! Refueling. I was so close so many times and I swear that refueler hated me. https://youtu.be/RMZfcBB4qfA

I've seen some video of the new VSN F-4B. Looks pretty darn good, just without the advances systems modeling HB does. -
I understand WHY we have the TID, and I am not arguing to change it, but I do somewhat lament that instead of having "The best image of any Pod" we have the worst.

Just to up the difficulty. I spent so much time trying to figure out how to HARM an SA-10 with a Viper then figured out dropping four JDAMS with one pickle in the Hornet meant I just had to get close enough then I could pop all the radars and the CC vehicle. Once that got easy I started doing dumb bombs. When I was using Mk-82s on an F-14A it just got silly. Putting the SA19 in was just to stop me from running over the system into min range.

That lack of data on PTID function is the BIG one. it is what it is. I love the Tomcat we got even as I dream for the Tomcat still sealed behind ITAR.

While I await the J or even the B I would never say they "missed the mark with this choice." They hit the second best sold jet fighter model world wide in history with the E and it would be a greater travesty to not do the E properly. -
no one, the F-15 was called Battlestar Galactica. The Viper was a small nimble interceptor on the show.

It doesn't help the AIM-7s case that VID was required -
You already can shut him up, silent Jester is an option. @IronMike I love Jester and find myself talking to him during cruise phases of flight as if he could respond.

And, in all honesty, is question number one for me buying a module. I loathe runways. If I'm not landing on a boat or in a farmers field (Harrier and a few Helos) then IDGAF. By all rights the F-4E, and the F-15E recently released, look frikkin' amazeballs, but now boat operations, no buy. The F-15E teases everything I would want from an F-14D (more advanced radar, INS/GPS munitions) but I won't buy it. The F-4E teases arguably the most Phabulous Phantom ever made, but I won't buy it. I'll wait for the Naval Phantom in ~5 years. So far I have every module with a Tailhook including the Community A-4. Carrier Operability is Priority #1 for folks like me. Please understand, I am over the moon happy that the F-4E is coming and I hope tons of people buy it, I really do, it just isn't for me (or people like me). -

In other words, Current behaviour is correct and as intended. Masked previously due to incorrect Yaw SAS implementation. Question @fat creason, What impact does Roll SAS have during maneuvers? I often hear people say to disable it but I don't see a "why". -

how about lateral stability above 20 units? when I am goofing off at 25+ units I need to hold full rudder and some cross control lateral just to maintain a turn, otherwise I will still go towards wings level and climb. -

So, I like to play around at 25+ AoA, and I definitely feel like pure rudder control is reduced a bit, but not much. Cross control is improved I think. At Hornet speeds I hold full rudder "down" into the direction I want to turn while pulling the stick "up" away from the turn as needed and the cross control lets me continue in the direction of turn easily and I can switch the inputs to reverse the turn. Once I switch there is rocking unless you drop AoA. I was also able to do a Barber pole of 35+ AoA with 17-198 dps rotation, ~170KIAS, 18,000ft/m descent with this input. Pulling back the inside engine out of burner gave 40+ AoA, 30+dps rotation, ~160 KIAS, and the same 18,000ft/min descent. Recovery was as easy as moving inside engine back to burner, remove cross control stick, and apply reverse rudder (over 25dps rotation to less than 10 in two seconds) -
I haven't had the same issue. My issue comes more from being in unusual attitudes and not knowing what "4 oclock high" means when I am 50 degrees nose up and rolled 130 degrees to the right. I often need more speed readings that he gives, especially when I have tally. This is where I would ideally like (such as I would in MP with a human RIO) the ability to say "Tally" so my RIO can go to speed, altitude, and fuel calls and wait for me to say "Lost him" to go back to position readouts.

Awesome. I'm all for increased accuracy in simulation.

Oh, I always thought the glove pylons had their own source.

I'm out of town for the next week, but that's exciting news.

SDBs- what are they and how would you use them?
Spurts replied to Aussie_Mantis's topic in Wish List
Slew, TOO, ENT, repeat x times. Select Munitions, TGTS, Select, Pickle for x+1 seconds, up to 10 targets destroyed. AFAIK the only Hornet advantage is 4 drops on a single pickle if you do all your stepping right. -

And this was your error. By the book a Deck Launched Intercept for that loadout is a ~0.9M climb to 30,000ft. Level off and accelerate to 1.4M. Climb at 1.4M to altitude. The Ps through the transonic region is too low to effectively accelerate there so you have to either accelerate lower in level flight or climb higher and dive through that speed region.
