  1. I had the same outcome as you maybe worse. I'd box my trackir then get it out for a few more minutes then hate it and box it again. It took me several weeks to get used to it, then I noticed flying was just not the same without it. I really did not start to enjoy it until I used WAGS trackir profile and tweaked it just a bit to slow it down. Now although it annoys me sometimes it really is a requirement of flying in DCS for me, I'm lost without it. Like others have said keep at it, it will get much much better although I can't say natural.
  2. Yes running in windows mode due to the use of dual monitors. Native resolutions are both 1024x768, but in game resolution set to 1280x1024 and 1024x768. Only works if my native resolution is 1280x1024, not a big deal but just an annoyance to switch resolution when I want to play the game. Thanks all
  3. So I'm running custom ingam resolution of 2304x1024, in order to get this to work I have to first change my primary desktop resolution to 1280x1024. I don't like this because outside fo DCS it's too small for my eyes. Any way to set DCS using multimonitors to switch to custom resolutions in game, or it it required to run in that resolution first? Thanks
  4. Just got a set of the thrustmaster MFD's , what talk about immersion in the sim now. Still trying to figure out how I want to place them on a second monitor, on the desk, on the initial monitor in each corner. I'm opting to go to Lowes tomorrow and buy some wood and PVC pipe to start building me a simpit, stupid hobby ! :)
  5. OK I got it pretty much how I want it now, only issue I had is it appears I have to have my desktop resolution at 1280x1024 in order to get this lua file to work on the left screen correctly. Pnathro thanks Description = 'Two monitor configuration'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1280; height = 1024; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 1281; y = 305; width = 250; height = 250; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 1581; y = 305; width = 250; height = 250; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center
  6. Think I'm makin some headway, my center X coordinate had to be 0 instead of 1280. Now just a matter of tinkering with the settings. I think I'm good from here, the whole total resolution thing threw me. After changing x to 0 for cetner I now have a full display on both monitors but still not what I'm looking for, getting there. Thanks for the resolution help.
  7. I'm running windows mode. Tried this below LUA file and now I have a huge left MFD on the right screen and in the background the main cockpit display but it's overlayed. Both are on the 2nd right monitor, the left monitor is black but on as I can see the yellow cross hair when I move it over. _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Dual Monitors'); Description = 'Two monitor configuration'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 1280; y = 0; width = 2304; height = 1024; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.6; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 1280; y = 105; width = 840; height = 840; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 2120; y = 105; width = 840; height = 840; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center
  8. So I'm trying to setup dual monitors for use with the MFD's on the righ monitor and main display on left. Using this guide - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815 I'm really not sure what my combined total monitor resolution is, does this mean inside or outside of the game? So I'm running 1024x768 on both in Windows but they are different size monitors. One is a 28" and one is a 19", the the game I have resolution set to 1280x1024. So how do I know what my total monitor resolution is? Also I've tried multiple .lua file examples from various post and no matter which one I use, I always end up with a picture in the middle of both monitors, so I have a border on the left and right about 1/4 of each monitor - never stretches both monitors. Thanks
  9. Thanks Evil and Revelation sounds like I was on the right track but just needed some guidance. Agree that I really need to learn JTAC and CDU to help out.
  10. What is the best way to access threats when entering hostile areas? Please keep it simple and basic and let me expand my knowledge from that. I'm assuming scanning with TGP ground is not the best method.
  11. Wow is all I can say, been flying since Beta and this is like a new game. Simply amazing, DCS has my continued support. I don't know specifically what's changed to increased the visuals but I sure do like it. THe FPS is better too, never had issues with all settings on high, but it's even more smooth now.
  12. Thanks MadTommy, I will check this out and play around with it over the Holiday.
  13. @s77th - Yes I can enter the Windows 7 setup. I have the option to extend the windows desktop, but not span the windows desktop. As a result there is no extending the main screen over both monitors either for DCS a10c or Flightsim X. Although the window will stretch in flightsim, the picture will snap back to the left monitor with a black screen on the right. With extend desktop option I can open 2 views in flightsimulator but can't extend one view across both monitors. In the nivida control panel, options the option to use all monitors is greyed out. Again no way to span both monitors. Span and extend are different, or at least I believe them to be.
  14. I have searched high and low and asked on many flight sim forums but no one seems to know the following. Just bought a Nvidia GTX590, running Windows 7 and 2 28" monitors. The option to SPAN the monitors is neither in windows or the Nvidia Drivers. If I understand correctly neither Vista nor Windows 7 allow you to span monitors anymore. Nvidia drivers only allow 3 monitors to span. Is there no way to make my games span just the two monitors? I really have to have 3 to make this work? Any ideas / help would be appreciated.
  15. The only 2 ways I know to switch between say gbu's and missles would be to pull up the DMSM and press the corresponding button, I'm aware you can hit the rocker button on the hud too to change profiles. I'd like to be able to assign a button on my x52 to cycle through the ordnance but I'm not sure what the default key would be for this? Anyone know how to accomplish this? Thanks
  16. Any updated on the progress of the patch for this week? Call me crazy ... but do I take my work vacation days thurs and friday of this week or tues and wed of next week? Monday is a Holiday for us. Some decisions in life are just too much to make on my own!
  17. To all : Thank you for the replies. I've still got lots of learning to do but as you verterans know that's most of the fun ! I'm pretty sure by the time I can actually learn enough to be dangerous in this game the next DCS simulator will be out and I'll have to start over! Regarding the hud movement I do believe it is crosswind and plan to do some testing tonight to confirm based of the thread arteedecco recommended. WarriorX, I think my TGP issue is I simply don't know how to return the TGP to center after having point tracked a target. I've got to find the key to return tgp to boresight I believe that should fix the issue. Nemisis I have seen that message and think your solution will work also. Frostokin sorry for "another" post on the wind. I am pretty weak on the "jargon" used in a lot of these posts so even thought the answer may be present I often can see it because I can't understand it yet. Now I'm a smart guys in many areas, but airplane operations and jargon is not one, but I sure do enjoy the heck out of trying to learn when I can. I know the manual is our friend, but reading is so boring :) Thanks to all - truley a great forum and members.
  18. I'm learning by trail and error and the various videos posted here and there but having a hard time figuring out two things. I use a trackir so it may be part of number 1 not sure? 1) Sometimes my HUD information (pitch angle bars and ccip, crrp, or guns sites will move to the far right of the HUD. It stays there even though I'm flying level and have pressed my center trackir key. Not sure why it does this or how to correct it without starting over. The result is me having to lean to the left just to see some of the display. 2) After using point and track with my laser target pod it seem the orientation of the pod goes "whack", even though I try to bring it back to center up never really goes up and down never down, seems to be locked in to a ne or se movement only. I'm assuming it's because it's not cetnered but I don't know how to get it back center.
  19. I've tried to update the trackir software and although DCS a10-c is listed in the games there are no profiles I can find. A search of the forums does not reveal any either. What is the secret to finding a trackir profile somewhere that is good with a-10c? My trackir is too jump right now and smoothness up to 100
  20. Hey now, are you saying Roller Coaster tycoon was not realistic? Not only did I build Rollercoasters in that sim but I also have been on one or two in real life  I think I may just be able to build one if Disney World will let me. Regardomg the A-10 though, I'd let you pilot it over me, I'd be along for the ride because I have a hard time even getting this SIM off the ground sometimes so a ride with me might be very very short.
  21. Yes we could all fly the A-10 as good as any pilot today. In fact just based off what I've learned from my computer I'm qualified for many professions, why I go to my daily job now just baffles me when I could ...... Be a professional roller coaster deigner thanks to Roller Coaster Tycoon Be a professional sub captain thanks to Silent Hunter Be a professional 17th century trader and colonist because of Anno 1701 I could also make a living selling lemonade and make millioins of dollars just like in the lemonade tycoon game OR ...... I could always fall back and be an A-10 fighter pilot thanks to DCS
  22. They are going to require a pilots license. I'll say what's been said before - simply amazing and as of right now beyond my capacity with time to learn it all past taking off and landing. Thanks for the effort and it is a great product.
  23. Options testing screen needed To say there are several commands with this game is an understatement. I'd like to see a quick screen I can go to when mapping/changing my options. For instance if I was to assigned zoom or throttle or chaf or flares to a button on my Joy, I have to load up a mission to test it out. Why not a quick screen with just you a-10 on, no textures, to test your mappings? I may have missed it but in game no way to change your options.
  24. Cant even load this one using 64 or 32 bit .exe Tried compatiability mode, running as admin - still crashes on load. Can only play about 2 minutes of shooting ground mission and then crash.. Beta 3, vista 64 - missions free roam work fine.
