Actually that is the whole point of Steam Greenlight: To let Valve know that there are people who would like to see a game on Steam that isn't yet.

Meh, bought it on Steam but they insist on waiting till friday to release it in Europe. This crap is so annoying... But yeah, the game looks great.

I played the old X-Com games back in the days and they were fantastic, can't wait for this one.

WTF? This world makes me sad.

Very nice!

DCS: Combined Arms Pre-Purchase / Open Beta Available
Toxe replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Great, just what I have been waiting for! -
I was pretty good and worthy to carry the "Deus Ex" name even if it had some glaring design flaws. And the music was great, I had to buy the sound track.

That fourth pic looks great!

Oh my goodness, this announcement makes me so happy! Thanks, ED! :)

I have been in Inferno / Act 2 now for a couple of days and oh my, now it's getting seriously tough. If I am lucky I might survive the first hit. Those rare and elite boss packs can be frustratingly hard.

This probably would not work as a primary input source. First of all your arms would tire after a while and it would become very uncomfortable. And the second problem would be the lack of tactile feedback. But it might work as some sort of additional input source.

Other then some of the greener outside areas and that both are 3D and have goat man, no, it does not remind me much of Titan Quest.

On my first (solo) playthrough on Normal difficulty I played it slow and explored everything I could and talked to everyone and tried a lot of things. It took me 30 hours to finish the game. And from what I have read in the forums looks like I have been very, very slow. But I don't care. Yes that's really well done and it actually amazes me that Blizzard spend so much time and effort to add all this to the game. After all it's something that a lot of people won't ever see or read or listen to. But oh well, their loss. I love the comments that your own character and your companions make throughout the game in the various zones or events. The Templar (which, as a Demon Hunter is my preferred companion anyways) has some funny lines. :)

Well if you want to classify it then Diablo 3 would be a roguelike + dungeon crawler. :smartass: It has nothing to do with classic RPGs, you don't play a character / role and don't have to do any decisions that would change the story, world or fate of your character. It boils down to: Grab your weapon, kill loads of enemies, search for better items to equip your character in order to slay stronger enemies and be happy about it. It's quite simple really, but obviously simple doesn't necessarily mean bad. But in comparison to classic RPGs this very, very fast paced and, well, that's why it's called an action-RPG after all. Some people like this, some people think it's shallow. Personally my D3 time has been great so far. I have finished the game now once, solo on Normal difficulty and took my time to slowly explore every zone and talk to all the NPCs and to find all the lore books. Now I am playing through it again, on the next higher difficulty. I have been playing some multiplayer now and it has been great fun so far. Last night me (Demon Hunter) and another player (Monk) were fighting our way through some levels and we had some epic battles. So many times we were close to dying but somehow we pulled through and survived (well, most of the time at least). Great fun and some great loot. But as I said this has not that much to do with more classic single player RPGs like Ultima, Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Gothic, Risen, Mass Effect and so on. In classic RPGs you spend more time exploring the world, talking with NPCs and doing quests and puzzles. Fighting usually is only a small part of the gaming experiance. Personally I love both. :) Now, online-RPGs / MMOs like WoW are something else entirely again and got more in common with Diablo than with classic RPGs.

I was a little worried about the skill system but I think it's fantastic. I would have expected a little respec cost, but there are enough money sinks. Anyways, it's great to experiment with skill and rune combinations and try different things.

Oh I did not say that it is bad or evil, it is just that I personally have no interrest in these social networking sites. I don't care about following other people's activities or read about all the dreary day to day issues. Point is, the web worked pretty well before Facebook and it was enough for me. (Read: I don't get it, now get off my lawn. ;) ) But I am not trying to talk someone out of it. If you like it, good for you, nothing wrong with that.
-
Sorry, too much Facebook for my taste. But good luck to you anyways.

I think first person view would be a nice gimmick, just for fun. But I don't think that you could actually play D3 that way. Borderlands on the other hand worked pretty well in first person, but that was more of a shooter anyways.
-
Yes its isometric view only, no first person or over-the-shoulder.

Just finished the installation (with its great traditional Diablo guitar music), smiled all the way through the intro movie and fiddled with the few options. Now if only Battle.net would let me log in... ETA 5 hours...

Oh how embarrassing, and I actually replied to that other thread. Ah well, I didn't actually search and just looked through the last three pages of this forum. Anyway, happy day.
-
Now what is this, no Diablo III thread yet? Anyone else here looking forward to playing D3? Only 8 hours until release (at least here in Europe), have been waiting aprox. 8 years for this. Oh sweet joy! :devil_2:

Yeah, that game looks very promising so far.

At the moment I am actually using no special Nvidia control panel settings for Black Shark. Although for most games I force Anisotropic Filter to 16, as AF is the one setting that improves visual quality the most. Some safe settings I would suggest: Anisotropic Filter: 16x AA Mode: Overwrite or enhance application settings (try enhance first) AA: pick one, 4x would be a good start AA Transparancy: pick one I suggest looking for an in-depth guide and read what the other settings do, but this is usually a good start. But try fiddling with the ingame settings first. And make screenshots to compare your settings. Regarding V-Sync: IMHO you should enable V-Sync only if you know what it does and, most impotantly, if your FPS are 99% of the time above 60. If not leave it off.
