  1. Thanks both, You put me on the right path, especially with the fact that only co-ordinates are required. I'm now a MIST user! Regards, M
  2. I've searched and read, but can't find how to do this with DCS lua or MIST (even though similar questions were pointed in this direction). I want to be able to create trigger zones with a script rather than ME. Why? Because I can then import them into other pre-existing missions using the same map. I will know what the x & y co-ordinates and radius need to be. I just need to know if it can be created within a script? Pseudo-code: CreateZone{ x = 1000 y = 2000 z = 0 radius = 3000 name = myZone} Thanks M
  3. These are all great, thank you!
  4. Thanks, unfortunately the links are dead
  5. Hi, I added a UK EWR object to a mission on the channel map and I get Bandit BRA calls in text and voice sound files. The voice is USA and the phrases are not in the voice sound file folders that I have access to for modding (i.e. ATC, Wingman and Player), so I'm guessing there is an additional sound file folder used for the EWR? Does anyone know what this folder is called and the names of the files in the folder? Thank you
  6. Hi, Yes, in the full mission builder you can trigger sound files based on location, proximity and other events. Regards, Mac

    F-5E re-WORK

Cockpit looks fantastic, thank you and keep going!
  8. It is a beautiful map, very immersive. Thank you
  9. To OP - Presuming this is a Desktop not a laptop: In addition to the good suggestions above, and if you have a spare PCIe slot, you may be able to get a PCIe M2 adapter card. You can then put your new M2 drive on it (get 500gb not 1tb if you want to save money), move DCS onto that and leave the OS on the original M2. You may need to enable the PCIe slot for M2 in the motherboard BIOS. Check that the motherboard supports this before you buy! Check that there are no speed limitations as well. Regards, Mac
  10. Hi, Rudel - thanks for this tip, will use it next time Bignewy - Thanks - yes I know that's what I needed to do, but one or both of the modules were causing the 'off screen' startup which meant I couldn't access the menu to delete them. As soon as I deleted them (after many restarts to get to a usable screen), DCS started up correctly in full screen every time. Regards, Mac
  11. For me personally, the accessibility of DCS is heavily dependent on one thing - my time. I don't have that much spare time to fly, so any 'unreal' aids that make the sim more accessible during the time that I do have, will get my vote. I've been a sim flyer for 20+ years, I want the immersion from complexity/authenticity and I'm not looking for arcade action in any way. Just a bit of 'scaleability' that can be tailored to my time and ability. Example - learning to taxi, takeoff and land in the Spitfire is a real art. Yes I want to learn how to do it properly, but do I want to spend all of my limited time without even getting it off the ground? No. Would I use an autopilot to get airborne and into the action when I don't have much time and before I file the module in the 'too hard' bin? Yes. Here's the commercial significance - would the time investment consideration stop me from buying another module - yes. We all have different backgrounds, circumstances, abilities and limitations. Aids make this great sim more accessible to more people, which means more money spent, which means faster development. Just my opinion and experience. Regards, Mac
  12. Good tip, will try it - thanks!
  13. Thanks, I will think twice
  14. Same here, enjoying both! In fact I also got the FW190 A-8 because of the channel map and I really like it. Think I might also go for the I-16, even though there is not much other content it makes sense with! I would like the Sabre as well, especially as it has a good campaign written for it, but the cockpit graphics are putting me off a little... I also tried the F-14 on trial and enjoyed it too. In fact, I managed to land it on a carrier first flight which I have never tried with any aircraft before and was very surprised that I actually could. Was I expecting it to be harder than it is?! F-14 and supercarrier might be next, but complexity of systems is putting me off as I don't have much time for simming at the moment. Regards, Mac

    FFB

I have the same behaviour - MSFFB2, trim has force but no feedback on the stall like there is on other a/c. Regards, Mac
  16. Thanks both, good to know the need to uninstall is normal at least Regards, Mac
  17. Hi all, I tried the F-14 and Viggen over the last few days of the free trial. Now that the trial has ended, when I started up DCS I got error messages about not having licences for these modules and DCS started up in the bottom quarter of my screen only, and only showing the top quarter of the main screen meaning I could not use the menus. After 3-4 restarts it started full screen. After several iterations of these false starts above, I deleted the trial modules (because each deletion requires a restart which then caused the problem again!). To add insult to injury, I had installed these on both my stable and beta installs so had to do all of the above twice. Is this normal? I mean, I'm grateful to try modules for free (might even get the Tomcat) but do we really have to 'clean up' the effect of free trials ourselves? Regards, Mac
  18. Just catching up - I did test last night with the F14 as the trial had not ended when I got home. No issues for me, sorry... 19. Did you try plugging the FFB into a different USB port? Do you have both USB 2 & 3 on your machine? if so, try moving it between them. Did you try disabling FFB in DCS to see if you get the same effect as unplugging and re-plugging? My FFB runs on an external hub (powered) with no problems, along with 5 other controllers plugged in there. I'm not on steam and don't have the Tomcat but will try it for you if it's still on free access when I get home later today Regards, Mac

  21. I've used software to analyse latency before, I think it was called LatencyMon or similar. It will tell you if a peripheral/USB device is causing latency on your system. Also try turning off Force Feedback in DCS and see if it makes any difference? I use MS FFB2 and don't have latency problems, so I'm sure it's fixable. Regards, Mac
  22. I would pay for such an add-on. I too have the mighty MS FFB2, with F16 grip (the plastic one), FFB2 sensors linked into Bodnar board for higher X Y resolution. Perfect setup for me, after many years of tinkering. Regards, Mac
  23. Exposed varables Hi Hollywood, Is it technically possible to have exposed variables for the DCS map being used and the player country/coalition? Best, Mac
  24. Could also try setting up a deadzone in TrackIR so that small head movements aren't causing in-game movements all the time
  25. Thanks, I have some good material if it does
