muamshai- I have this problem as well and it seems related to continuous HOTAS use. The first couple of times I nearly tossed a clot in my brain because I was in the middle of an attack run when everything went black. I just hit one of the keyboard buttons (like an ABRIS related one) to get it back. Running Vista 64.

Use the extra monitor for your SHKVAL screen and Nav display...

2. This may have been mentioned, but enable your controls indicator to help figure out what you are actually trimmed to (right CNTL-ENTER). I find that the Shark likes a little forward and slight left bank in a hover, but that may depend on your loadout. 4. Your PVI-800 nav keyboard has a button in the middle bottom row of keys "d/V" or so, it will give you wind direction/velocity. see manual page 2-63. HTH

part of the ejection envelope would also include you bank angle and pitch...there is prolly a good graph of this somewhere.

time trial 200kts groundspeed to autohover
Skydoc replied to harock's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
This type of maneuver sounds very similar to the coordination exercise we had to perform repeatedly on Gazelle conversion course in the UK: it was called the "Quick Stop." Its great for learining how to decelerate quickly and the key was to not lose or gain any altitude - hence the coordination exercise. To make it more interesting, you can also enter the "180 Quick Stop" where you start downwind and initiate your decel as you trun 180 degrees into the wind - again great exercise for coordination of controls. These are tactically useful, as you can imagine. -
I forget if I did this mission with the following technique or some other "crossing the mountain range with low clouds mission" but here goes: I start climbing at about 160 right away after taking off and get on top of the cloud cover when ever I can, basically flying IFR and using the ABRIS to guide me. Then at the IP, I let back down through the clouds (check the ABRIS for the low ground) and punch into the battle area from there. Watch your speed on the descent and fly your instruments. HTH

Could it be ice build-up? What altitude/speed is it happening? No hostiles around, right?

Affinity Tool questions to improve performance
Skydoc replied to airjocky2's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If it doesn"t, you could try Prifinitty (freeware). I have been using that. You just have to alt-tab out of the loading screens tomake sure the core assignments stuck. There is nothing in the online documentation about limiting it to intel CPUs so you can give it a try. Cheers, -
Embarassed to ask: how do I "win" a campaign?
Skydoc replied to advent_m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Sorry about that, EtherealN, I couldn't resist either...:music_whistling: So when "Bitchin' Svetlana" starts to sing her song about "Warning, under attack!" this must refer to someone lasing you to prepare for an attack, right? That's not a RWR, right? When I am near Abrams tanks, that is often the last thing I hear...:tomato: .. -

I am sure you mean flares. Which does bring up a point: we are totally defenseless against hellfire LG/RG and other RG SAMs aren't we? Other than staying low and remaining undetected, that is. -
Affinity Tool questions to improve performance

Also note that when autohover is used, altitude hold gets switched automatically on as well - BUT when you disengage hover mode, alt hold stays ON. That has caused me lots of trouble in the past. -
If I understand you correctly, you want the standard cockpit view on the big center monitor and skval/ABRIS on the one side monitor? In Vista? That is what I fly right now, with TIR4 in the cockpit view and it works great! There are multiple forum threads on this. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=39835 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=39799 Will get you started, do a search as well. You will need to run the game in windowed mode so that may knock down your FPS a bit, but I have almost the same system as you (minus the OC) and it works fine. Also get yourself an affinity tool like PriFinnity to make use of at least two of your 8 cores. Oh and your original query: I would go with TIR4 only and hold off on TH2Go until you buy your second 4870x2, which may be soon as prices drop... HTH

Startup Procedures - Hope it helps you like it helps me
Skydoc replied to DaWu's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
All these thanks and only "1" in reputation? +1 from me, DaWu! Now I have to ask, what is that mysterious TWO seat KA-50 look-alike featured at the top of page one in your guide? Is that a trainer version??? Nochmals, super Arbeit! -
Well, you could start off with what is already available on the internet and get it pretty darn close. Consider the Training Circular for starters: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/docs/tc-1-251-cover.htm Not top mention all the EPs, training aids that are available in/around Ft Rucker in stores like "Wings" - It would lead to a pretty robust simulation.

And why would you want to do the "A" model Apache? Seems the "D" model would be the way to go.
-
Not sure if that is his problem. Consider increasing the dead zone on your joystick, that helped me a bit. And yes, it is very sensitive - made worse with the altitude hold engaged which happens automatically if you engage autohover and DOES NOT disengage when you disengage the autohover assist - so check that as well.

Embarassed to ask: how do I "win" a campaign?
Skydoc replied to advent_m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Havent played that campaign yet, but there seems to be some limit to their willingness to accept failure. When I take out a shedload of bad guys and still get shot down or crash on the way home, it will let me play on. But if you only get a minimal amount of kills and then die, the program ends with a "fail." Recommend reset campaign and try again...done that more times than I care to admit! -
Vista64 "BS not Working" after ESC at mission end
Skydoc replied to NismoRR's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have started seeing this more often as well (running vista64) and it seems to be related to longer mission duration. Could the code have some kind of "memory leak"? -
You know, the crossfeed switch I usually turn on while in transit because I never have evenly filled tanks. When doing precombat checks, I switch back to isolate, just on case I lose containment on one tank, the other one will still feed the remaining engine and I *might* make it home on a single engine. More technique than procedure, I guess...

Been flying this sim for many weeks and still can't get the rockets to behave the way I would like, so I leave that bit out. O/w pretty similar; in general, I try to knock out SAMs and Shilkas first then put my wingman to work on one end while I work the other flank. . . .
