  1. I like that some CMs are auto-populated now but what is auto-populated seems totally random. How do we enter CMs ourselves now as many friendly groups arent appearing?
  2. Side question - is it also no longer to place your own CMs? It doesnt seem to work anymore
  3. SOLVED It was breaking on landing, not takeoff. My bad habit was that I always dropped the gear in the break, and didnt wait until below 250 kts (I thought the gear would wait for a safe speed to lower automatically). I suspect ED changed the damage model and this bad habit of mine finally got me in the butt. I was focusing on overspeeding on the takeoff, I never thought about my landing. Thanks to everyone who helped out
  4. Here is a track of it breaking: I take off normally, drop some bombs quick to simulate a mission and then land. After rearm/refuel, the gear is broken after takeoff. This is how it always happens. For this track, I kept it exactly how I normally fly. I have tried many different things like rotating more forcefully, pulling the power back after wheels up, lighter aircraft, more than 12 units of trim and none of that matters. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0jecbuegy9nnyzf/broke.trk?dl=0
  5. Sadly, this didn't help. I am going to try and make a recording of it today. Another tidbit, this same thing is happening to two other people I regularly fly with - and it may also be only after landing and rearming/refueling. What changed is my question. If I knew what new damage model ED implemented a couple of updates ago I could at least know what to look for. I'm totally open to the concept that I have been flying this plane wrong for a couple years - but I know I haven't changed how I take off in years.
  6. I'll give that a go - thats not something I have tried yet. Interestingly - tonight - it only happened on my second takeoff in the plane. Meaning after I rearmed and refueled. On my first takeoff (hot start) it was always fine.
  7. No. I just flew online for about 90 minutes and this happened on almost all of my takeoffs. It's getting so frustrating. I do notice that when this happens one or both of the main landing gear doors are gone.
  8. I dont normally do that - I have been flying the hornet literally since day one so I know it's not supposed to need that. The reason I am doing that is to get the gear up before they break. To be honest I have been focused on my speed but from what you're saying my speed is fine. Some folks I fly with insist they are easily rotating at 140 so thats where I was with that. Recently, let's say the last week or two, almost every time I take off, the gear break. As soon as they are seemingly locked up, I get the gear warning sound that wont go away. I also cannot employ any weapons (the plane behaves as if the gear is down).
  9. What am I doing wrong? Ever since the last updated, almost every time I take off I damage the landing gear and I have to turn around and land. In talking with people I fly with, it seems that for some reason my plane is behaving as if it's way heavier than it really is. While they can easly rotate at about 140 knots, I am having to pull all the way back on the stick at 170 and even then I am stalling. According to the loading screen, I'm under weight. Flaps at half, no brakes. Here's a track showing it. Look at my post further down of the gear breaking on second takeoff of mission. What in the world am I doing wrong?
  10. Go here: I:\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\shaders\HMDMask.fx Change: float4 vsOctagonMask(in float2 pos:POSITION0): SV_POSITION0 { return float4(pos, 1, 1); } To: float4 vsOctagonMask(in float2 pos:POSITION0): SV_POSITION0 { return float4(pos, .9, .9); } Seems to pass integrity check and I didnt see any performance hit Thanks to @Japo32 for finding the trick.
  11. The halo doesnt appear in screenshots/2D - only the headset. However, maybe it does...I notice the 2D view that appears now has that ring around it and I think the headset is grabbing the edge of whatever that is. When I roll the plane the halo fades in/out with where the sky position is in the 2D view ring (whatever you want to call that). I hope that makes sense... Here is a video I took through the headset that shows it at the bottom though: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u8wli7s920bm716/IMG_1506.mp4?dl=0
  12. Clouds are gorgeous! But - Using my Reverb G2 I have a white halo around my view in VR. It's very bright/distracting. Don't see it at night but it's present during day mission. After a bit of flying around it seems it appears any time the aircraft is in direct sunlight
  13. You said you had to use a button for the A-10C start function instead of the axis out of detent - right?
  14. That's a really good write-up, thanks for that. It seems you ran into the same trouble. In reading the documentation for the configuration tool, it sounds like the "Inverted" option for the button should work for this but it has no effect. Maybe that is a bug? I have 0-2% set up on both throttle axis to represent a button press of 72,73. Then on the buttons tab I set those to map to 61 and 62 logical buttons I tried to set up two more logical buttons that inverted physical buttons 72,73 but it didnt actually do anything. They still "pressed" below 2% and not above. According to the guide for the tool I think what I am doing should work: “Mode Inverted” - the joystick logical button will be turned on when the physical button is turned off;
  15. I feel like this should be on the internet 100 different places but I cant find it. How do I handle binds (like in the A-10C) where there is only a binding for an "ON" position. In the Warthog, the pre-built script knew that if the APU switch was not on, it was off and the sim behaved accordingly. I just got the CM3 to replace my Warthog and have spent the last few hours trying to figure out how to get this to work the same way the warthog did. 1: I created a button press to occur via the configurator tool when each throttle is below the detent. How do I set DCS up so that when that button is not being pressed (i.e., the throttle is off the idle detent) the throttle in the sim also comes off the detent and vice-versa? 2: The 4 red switches on the CM3 have an ON position and that's it. How do I get DCS to recognize that if that switch is not ON to send an OFF command to the sim (For example the APU in the A-10C which has binds for OFF and START) Edit: I found the answer for question 2 here: For a temporary solution to question 1, I just bound the opposite values to the same axis as different button presses. That works, but that now takes up all 4 of the possible axis-button mappings the config tool allows and I was using that to map my flaps to the flaps axis. I thought by using the "inverted" option on the axis-mapped buttons would work but that doesnt seem to do anything.
  16. Sad but very, very true. Thanks petritis - dont worry - know it's not the campaign's fault. I actually did well myself - I killed the target assigned and shot down 3 enemies so I thought it was a fun engagement. I just had this huge sense of failure when I realized by whole squadron had been shot down. I will continue on the rest of the campaign and only worry about myself - thanks so much.
  17. I know full well the AI in DCS is terrible. I just finished the new Enemy Within campaign with the A-10 and am fully used to my wingman just flying into a mountain or getting shot down by manpads on every single mission. My question is should I just expect the same thing here? I really like the idea of how you did this and I think it's a pretty spectacular 'hack' to solve the DCS dynamic campaign problem. It took me a couple tries to figure Pontus out (I should have read the manual, of course) but now that I do have at least a decent understanding of how this works, I have played my first 'real' mission twice now (with two different codes, from restarting the campaign) and in both missions everyone was shot down. On the second one, two of them were down before the enemies even showed up (no idea how). I fully understand you cant help the AI, so I am just curious if I should expect these losses every mission like I did with the other campaigns or if I should take this as me doing something wrong and I could do better somehow. I'm fine either way I jus dont want to waste time thinking I am doing something wrong in the planning phase when in reality, the AI is just dumb. Should I be setting waypoints for the rest of the squadron like I do myself or is it okay to rely on the task you give them?
  18. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ce7b00rszumbxfc/log.zip?dl=0 Nothing is being logged in the DCS logs - I just checked and after I attempt to launch DCS via the updater utility none of the logs have a modified date of today.
  19. DCS Updater wont work anymore for soime reason - When I tell it to launch in either VR or Non-VR it acts like it's starting but then immediately quits. Any ideas? I tried deleting the ocnfig files as well as a fresh download of the latest version
  20. So will it be included eventually or no?
  21. I flew last night for the first time in a few weeks and it seemed slightly better but nowhere near where it was before 2.5.6. THe'res probably a few things going on because my single player performance is as good as it has always been. It's only in (some) multiplayer servers where it's sometimes unplayable. I always used to brag to friends who fly P3D or X-Plane about how in DCS performance wasn't something I even had to think about anymore. I guess I jinxed all of us :( Something is crazy messed up though - I even get terrible stutters in DCS's menu!
  22. Yup, Rift-S, i9 9900k, 2070 Super here and sometimes it's unplayable. Simple missions are fine but anything complex and most multiplayer servers are almost impossible to enjoy. Also if I load up it's hit or miss - I might see FPS as low as 1-2, or maybe it might be fine (in the 40s). But the moment a plane spawns near me it cuts in half. Another interesting thing is when I am playing with a friend our FPS will drop at exactly the same time so that tells me there's something happening or changing in the sim to cause it. I just picked up Prepar3D v5 and I'm sorry to say performance in that is way better than DCS right now and that's truly shocking to me. I always bragged that DCS performace was so good that you didn't even have to think about it.
  23. Yes it's made DCS practically unenjoyable for at least a month or two now. What a great time to not have a playable sim, right? I have a Rift-S, 2070 Super and my CPU is an i9 9900k but ever since 2.5.6 I have seen FPS as low as 1, or 2 sometimes. What's odd is every once in awhile, it will be fine. If my plane is all by itself, things are fine but the moment another plane appears next to me FPS drops in half. Dog fights end up making me nauseous sometimes.
