  1. Weird, that's too bad. I really like mine. I have read that the actual damper pistons are available to purchase from general parts distributors, but I don't know exactly which would match. (You'd still need the MFG-specific attachment parts of course, but the actual piston should be replaceable if that's he source of the issue)
  2. Did you lube the bar and/or reduce the resistance via the dial? I don't notice any stiction on mine.
  3. I fly 95% fixed wing and 5% rotor. I like the damper a lot because it makes the pedals feel more like real pedals, in that there is a resistance to motion in a more constant gradient (meaning that it lacks a gradient, really), rather than the ever-increasing resistance that you get with springs. It allowed me to really dial down the spring tightness and have most of the resistance come from the damper, and the springs really are only felt when you're near the ends of the axis. It gives you just that much more customization, and in a peripheral that I expect to last for very many years, is worth it for me.
  4. In general aviation, we're not avoiding landing with a crab because our planes are not FBW, we're doing it to avoid extra stress on the landing gear. I wonder if the Viper gear are built specifically for this kind of sideways force.
  5. Man, the last mission was a pretty one. Well done!
  6. Just throwing this out there - make sure you didn't plug the video cable into the motherboard instead of the GPU.
  7. Is it possible to change the page the kneeboard on the pilot body is on? It doesn't change for me. I can change the kneeboard page when toggled On on the screen, but the one on the pilot body does not change. I tried in another plane and it worked, but not in the P-47.
  8. Fly the Hornet or Viper instead and you won't need them at all
  9. I just finished this mission and hit it the first time using the LST. I do make sure to perform my run-ins in the direction prescribed in the nine-line. Not sure if BD does that on purpose to ensure that obstacles aren't in the way. I tend to miss with unguideds but have good luck with guided munitions on this campaign
  10. Thanks for the info! I haven't bought anything yet, just doing research. Things have changed a little since my last build. I feel like such conflicts for simultaneous data retrieval requests would be less impactful on solid state drives than mechanical ones, no? But regardless if there's any measurable benefit at all, and modern mobos come with multiple M.2 slots, all else equal it's best to get two smaller ones than one giant one I guess, and then put DCS on the non-OS drive? I guess I can use that as a basis for the build.
  11. Looking to upgrade my PC in the near future. Is there any reason not to get a bigger M.2 drive and put DCS and Windows on the same drive? Or would there be a reason to buy an M.2 for the OS and a SSD for DCS? (Is there even a thing as motherboards with multiple M.2 slots?)
  12. Does anyone know of good grippy adhesive pads to apply to desk mounts to help them stick? Want to replace the pads on mine with something better. It's hard to judge the material by looking at pics online.
  13. Taxes are not part of MSRP. If MSRP is $999, for example, and I paid $1049 at the register due to state sales tax of 5%, then I got a card at MSRP.
  14. I did that but it didn't fix it for me
  15. With Precise selected, enter 10 digits by adding a zero after each group of numbers. So, if they tell you "1234 5678", you'd enter 12340 56780.
  16. For me the Quest was a good upgrade from the G2, except for comfort. Out of the box it was not as apparent an upgrade, but after sliding the resolution to the max in the Oculus software and using 1.3 PD in DCS, I found the visuals to be quite comparable.
  17. And to clarify, I bought all of mine new, from a retailer. Not sure how the situation is/was in other countries, but in the US at least I haven't had much issue getting what I've wanted at MSRP. It was tougher than usual when the 3000-series came out, but persistence landed me two FE cards from Best Buy. No way I'm playing anyone hundreds of dollars extra for the privilege of selling one to me, especially seeing how high MSRP is already. And Micro Center seems to price these things fairly as well, though to my understanding many of these items are in-store only. But I'm lucky enough to live close to one. $1199 for my 4080 when it came out.
  18. Not to defend Nvidia here and their various anti-consumer practices, but I've certainly paid MSRP for a few video cards since 2020. Founder's Edition 3080, a 3060ti for the wife's PC, then a 4080 from Micro Center 1.5 years ago.
  19. I think it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't try to advertise it as doubling the performance from the current gen when it's really not. If it was an additional feature, and they actually gave us real benchmarks so that we could really be informed about the hardware, it would be different. But this whole thing seems really used-car-salesman to me.
  20. "Gently used" as well, I'm sure
  21. Really? I strongly doubt that. Why would they kneecap their sales by doing that?
  22. I do wish there was more single-player content for each of them, like the Kursant campaign. That was excellent. As someone who primarily plays campaigns in DCS, I tend to spend most time in the Hornet it seems not because that's the plane I like the most, but because it's the one with the most single-player content. I do often crave something that requires more stick and rudder skills.
  23. Why is this one not pinned in the section? These are amazing.
