  1. As a long-time Reverb G2 owner, I do have an update with the Quest 3 that I was able to borrow. Unfortunately for my finances, I am pretty sure I'm going to make the switch. The edge-to-edge sharpness really is a game changer for me. I was getting tired of the very small sweet spot and blurry edges of the G2 which is what prompted my urge to test a Quest 3. Running the Quest 3 with a cheap cable from Amazon and a 1.3 or 1.4 pixel density in DCS gets the instruments almost as sharp as the G2's best spot, but it's all the way across the lenses. I can't do without that now. And with the ASW on, I can run without DLSS on in DCS which helps clarity as well. This is by no means scientific A/B testing, but it seems upon initial impressions that the Quest ASW works better than the Motion Reprojection in OpenXR Tools, with fewer ghosting artifacts (which also may be due to turning DLSS off?). There are some cons though: It's not as comfortable as the G2, so if I purchase one I'll be looking for aftermarket face plates. I don't like the colors as much as the colors in the G2 - it looks a little more "cartoony" - perhaps the saturation is too great? I have to figure out how to keep the headset from switching off immediately after I remove it from my face for a second. It's Meta, so of course getting the software set up and linked to my account and phone was quite infuriating. And as a non-FB user I didn't already have an account and had to create one, though I'm never going to use the native social apps. I wish all that extra Meta stuff wasn't required to use the hardware. And the audio isn't as good. (On that note - if I get headphones - should I plug them into the headset or into my PC?) Overall though I'm looking forward to a huge upgrade in optics vs the G2 I've been using for years - that outweighs the list of cons. Of course natural law says as soon as I pull the financial trigger, something next-gen is going to be announced.
  2. In the Quest 3 settings there's an option for anti aliasing, but I can't switch it off. Any ideas why?
  3. Oh, trust me... I fly in real life, and also play hockey, so I'm well acquainted with expensive hobbies Looking at the total amount spent on DCS, surely it eclipses the $$ I've spent on any other software by far... with the possible exception of Adobe Creative Suite products going back about 20 years (which is also not a total amount that I want to be aware of). Really though, I don't mind. I haven't done the dollar per hour enjoyed calculation but I'm quite sure it's a favorable ratio. I'm just happy that something like DCS exists and I'm eager to support them.
  4. I made the mistake once of adding up all the receipts in my profile page. Never again!
  5. @winghunter@Phantom711 Thank you both.
  6. Could you be kind enough to elaborate on what you needed to do? I've no experience with those. Is one able to test a Quest 3 (I have access to one) without causing conflicts with a Reverb that I'm currently using full-time? Do you require a cable for acceptable quality on the Quest?
  7. *grabs DCS-brand popcorn*
  8. I think objects are much closer to you when you're driving than when flying.
  9. You can alt-tab to change Window's focus to another application and then use the mouse there.
  10. Without too many spoilers, what is the range of tasking that one can expect during this campaign? Is it overwhelmingly SEAD? (Unfortunately one of my least favorite type of task ) Even if so, I am interested nonetheless due to the amazing quality of your past campaigns that I've played through. And also the lack of other content for the F-16
  11. Oh, no. Sorry to hear that! One thing I'm disappointed about is the quality control of the G2. I've had numerous issues and even replaced one complete headset at one point. Sorry
  12. I've had two cables go bad, so that is worth trying if you can get your hands on a replacement. It shouldn't be a RAM issue.
  13. Don. Hope that wherever you are, you are flying high and are in peaceful, friendly skies.
  14. Oh, really? I thought it was just a bug! I'll have to look at the settings.
  15. I've noticed the same. After just starting DCS, I move them to their max across all axes, and sometimes notice the first pass that the plane's controls hit their max at about half the movement of the peripheral. But after that it "registers" the full travel of the pedals and brakes and is fine for the rest of the session. Also make sure none of your axes are double-bound to more than one input.
  16. Yes, use your right hand. If it's something that requires a lot of heads down time, set altitude hold or whatever the specific plane has.
  17. Yeah, I'm sure. Since we're so demanding of realism, developers like ED won't attempt an approximation. For less authentic versions, I'm sure that you can find some shovelware on MSFS or War Thunder or the like. For me personally though, realistic versions of warbirds or cold war-era planes are more preferable, so that status quo is ok by me. The feel of flight in those aircraft are much better than the newer fly by wire airframes. To each their own, but I feel that it's more visceral to be sitting in a Tomcat or Mosquito than it is to be in a 'server rack with a pilot' like the F-18. (Though to be fair I do learn those modules too just due to the campaigns that are available for them)
  18. Ok, please let me know if you happen to remember
  19. Yes, but that's typically referred to as a DDoS attack.
  20. You know they are both coming, correct? What else do you need them to say? This newsletter told us things that we didn't know about. ED and partners put media and videos out there for the Eagle and people complain that it was done too early and that they still have to wait. They delayed the pre order and people complain, then they allow for pre orders then people complain that there's no solid release date for the module so they "took their money" too early. It must be difficult to have to cater to the vocal people here - I don't envy EDs PR people at all.
  21. Weird. I have a G2 and a 4080 and SteamVR gets me better performance. I can't even run MSFS that well due to its OpenXR requirement. In DCS and MSFS I get bad stuttery double vision with OpenXR, even down to 70% resolution. In Steam I can run it at 90%. Any PMs that can help me would be appreciated, to keep this thread uncluttered!
  22. Here are some pictures - hopefully this is what you need.
  23. Hmm... not sure! Do you know how I can tell? Let me know if there are extra pictures I can send if it will help you.
  24. How close is this? I have the Viper but haven't learned it. Is it worth starting training now or is the campaign still in the distant future? I know there are a couple campaigns in the works (@baltic_dragon and @Reflected both have a Viper campaign upcoming I believe) but am unsure of the status of any of them.
