  1. Seems that has more to do with SEO and/or the popularity of competitive software than whether or not DCS is a simulator or a game (it is both). Searching for "flight simulator" on Google does not net DCS in the top 15 results either. Also remember that DCS states itself that it is a game in its own description on their webpage.
  2. Quest 3 is your answer!
  3. DCS website > Profile > Licensing
  4. Make sure you also include the cost of a new case in that budget
  5. By default, Meta Quest 3 is not set up to display fine detail like cockpit gauges. Try increasing the PD in DCS, the resolution in the Oculus software, or by third-party tool like Oculus Tray Tool. I have a Quest 3 and after the right settings I'm very happy with it.

  7. Delete shaders? Do a DCS repair?
  8. Do you have "enable VR headset" in the VR tab in settings?
  9. There's one tone for when it's locked, and another when you uncage the seeker head. Are you uncaging?
  10. They're merging the versions shortly. I wouldn't make the effort now unless you really need it in the next week or two.
  11. This has probably been discussed before, but is there a difference between setting the resolution higher in the external utilities vs the pixel density in DCS?
  12. Weird. I just got into this campaign and was able to do M01 without issue, maybe 4 or 5 days ago. He plugged for a few mins then it was my turn.
  13. What kind of battery life are people getting with a link cable and DCS? Does it make a difference if you use the $80 official cable (which I'd rather not do!) vs a generic cable?
  14. Have you increased the resolution of cockpit displays setting? Also DLSS, at some settings, will make the text a bit blurrier.
  15. I see, thanks. I poked around a bit and didn't see anything like that - let me know if you remember where it is. I'm also not the "owner" account since I'm just borrowing it until I decide if I want to buy my own, so I'm not sure if that affects what I can access.
  16. So, looking at other forums, it seems that these Quest Touch Pro controllers (which are the ones that happen to be connected to the headset - not the normal ones) go to sleep quickly when they're put down and not used. Let me know if anyone else is using these controllers and has fixed that issue.
  17. I'm pretty sure that I've got the use hand controllers setting disabled completely in DCS - I'm not 100% sure but I think the message is coming from the Quest UI and not from DCS.
  18. All the time when flying I get a "Controller not tracking" box that shows up, right over the cockpit. I have the controllers just sitting on my desk when I'm flying. How can I prevent this from showing up every few minutes?
  19. As a long-time Reverb G2 owner, I do have an update with the Quest 3 that I was able to borrow. Unfortunately for my finances, I am pretty sure I'm going to make the switch. The edge-to-edge sharpness really is a game changer for me. I was getting tired of the very small sweet spot and blurry edges of the G2 which is what prompted my urge to test a Quest 3. Running the Quest 3 with a cheap cable from Amazon and a 1.3 or 1.4 pixel density in DCS gets the instruments almost as sharp as the G2's best spot, but it's all the way across the lenses. I can't do without that now. And with the ASW on, I can run without DLSS on in DCS which helps clarity as well. This is by no means scientific A/B testing, but it seems upon initial impressions that the Quest ASW works better than the Motion Reprojection in OpenXR Tools, with fewer ghosting artifacts (which also may be due to turning DLSS off?). There are some cons though: It's not as comfortable as the G2, so if I purchase one I'll be looking for aftermarket face plates. I don't like the colors as much as the colors in the G2 - it looks a little more "cartoony" - perhaps the saturation is too great? I have to figure out how to keep the headset from switching off immediately after I remove it from my face for a second. It's Meta, so of course getting the software set up and linked to my account and phone was quite infuriating. And as a non-FB user I didn't already have an account and had to create one, though I'm never going to use the native social apps. I wish all that extra Meta stuff wasn't required to use the hardware. And the audio isn't as good. (On that note - if I get headphones - should I plug them into the headset or into my PC?) Overall though I'm looking forward to a huge upgrade in optics vs the G2 I've been using for years - that outweighs the list of cons. Of course natural law says as soon as I pull the financial trigger, something next-gen is going to be announced.
  20. In the Quest 3 settings there's an option for anti aliasing, but I can't switch it off. Any ideas why?
  21. Oh, trust me... I fly in real life, and also play hockey, so I'm well acquainted with expensive hobbies Looking at the total amount spent on DCS, surely it eclipses the $$ I've spent on any other software by far... with the possible exception of Adobe Creative Suite products going back about 20 years (which is also not a total amount that I want to be aware of). Really though, I don't mind. I haven't done the dollar per hour enjoyed calculation but I'm quite sure it's a favorable ratio. I'm just happy that something like DCS exists and I'm eager to support them.
  22. I made the mistake once of adding up all the receipts in my profile page. Never again!
  23. @winghunter@Phantom711 Thank you both.
  24. Could you be kind enough to elaborate on what you needed to do? I've no experience with those. Is one able to test a Quest 3 (I have access to one) without causing conflicts with a Reverb that I'm currently using full-time? Do you require a cable for acceptable quality on the Quest?
