  1. A lot of times, I set Mother to one frequency and every other flight to another frequency. That way I don't have to change frequencies to get the picture, call Texaco, or tell my wingman something. I know it's not realistic but sure is easier.
  2. Idle throttle and pull the stick back all the way until you're on speed. I never need speed breaks that way. P.S. been reading too many Kevin Miller books...
  3. I’m seeing that too. Parked with the wings folded. Carrier moving 25 knots. Wing vapor shows up intermittently. The wing tip vortices while parked seems to be fixed though.

  5. Has anyone been able to do better than ~20mi with the AIM-120? That’s about my limit.
  6. Here’s my RWS setup that works very well. 80 mile range. 140 degree azimuth. 4 bar sweep. Level off your altitude. Move the TDC to the top of the display and note your upper and lower radar altitude coverage. Adjust the radar elevation to optimize coverage (say 20k to 500 feet.) Call your AWACS and get the picture. Verify your TDC is covering the bogey altitude.
  7. I would expect boresight ACM if selecting a missile in NAV mode. This implies a worst case, where time is critical and you need a weapon coming off the rail ASAP. The fact that it's random is kinda strange... is it cycling every time...? Could be broken logic.
  8. If you have a visual, press up on the sensor control switch for boresight ACM. Put the target inside the circle for a lock. RWS isn’t really useful at ranges less than 10mi. That’s what the ACM modes are meant for.
  9. I’d like to calibrate throttle to the game. Throttle in the sim doesn’t move until I’ve moved the HOTAS about an inch. Also means I don’t get full mil power when I hit the detent. The Windows calibration goes crazy using the TM combined profile.
  10. ...so I've got a sweet T.A.R.G.E.T. profile going with my TM Warthog. Only problem is, when I load the profile, the calibration for the throttles goes back to default and I can't calibrate them with the profile running since all those axis' are combined!! There MUST be a way to calibrate them.... what is it!?
  11. It's both a blessing and a curse!! Have to keep settings down for good performance but once you go VR - there's no going back.
  12. I love this thread! ...but I’m still missing something. To make a “lead” maneuver you use the throttle only? Or are we using the stick to “lead” (your throttle movements) by moving the VVI up or down?
  13. I noticed this same problem with my Rift after the last update. Does not do this in 2.5 'release' version. So they're not going to fix this!? ED you're killing me here! I've been in heaven the last couple weeks, now it's unplayable.
  14. You should definitely buy the F-18C! I would gladly pay $70 just for the pleasure of high fidelity trapping in VR alone!! Trap trap trap..... trap..... Not only can you trap - you can fly just about any mission conceivable once all the weapons and systems are complete. If you pick up the Persian Gulf map you can simulate incursions into Iran and intercept American made Iranian F5s!
  15. Is it possible to change the position mid-mission? It would be perfect if you could launch with aircraft parked in the recovery area and land with aircraft crowding the starboard bow.
  16. If you press \ then F5 you'll see the Stennis is listed with its freq. 127.5
  17. Just did my first launch off cat 1 in VR. AMAZING!! This truly is a fighter pilot's fighter jet. Can't believe the HUD scaling!! Coming from the A-10C with its tiny HUD characters - this thing is perfect.
  18. I'm confused... Why is everyone so focused on NOT using the trimmer? If you read the manual, you'll see the trimmer hat is front and center on the stick. Why? Because you should be using it all the time. If I recall correctly - I've read accounts from real life hog pilots saying their thumb is on the trimmer pretty much all the time! So expecting to NOT have to use the trimmer as soon as the wheels are off the ground is not a realistic expectation. (imho). TRIM!
  19. The bird slider is set to 100% but the random failures was turned off. Must have been a bird eh? That was a lot of fun! Blew a tire though on landing...I didn't seem to have much breaking power, even with the right engine and when I threw in the emergency break (even with anti-skid on) the breaks seemed to lock up and I spun out - nose high.
  20. Seconds after wheels up and oddly...at the same moment I raised the landing gear switch and flaps up - I hit a bird! I think anyway...the left engine stopped and caught fire. Took me about 3 seconds to get the handle pulled and discharged. Fun! Are birds modeled in the game? Would I be able to see it get sucked in? birdstrike.trk
  21. The trim system is the only reason I don't fly Black Shark.
  22. You could also set a markpoint\waypoint on the runway. This will give you distance.
  23. Hi Folks - This feature isn't working for me. After I set my radios I hit ESC --> QUIT and then I get what seems to be a crash. The ME loads back up...am I doing something wrong? Playing the 1.0 release btw.
