Agreed with Falcon - Blade overstress and not engine overspeed. Engines are fine and where being managed by the EEG. Basically you where flying too fast and when you pulled hard on the cyclic - the bottom blades hit the top and then you hit the drink. 1st tip: Dont pull your collective so much - for a good part of the flight you where at max and the yellow Governor lights where on. When you see this - drop the collective a little - the helo will loose altitude forcing you to pull pitch - this will slow the Helo and even everything out. 2nd tip: All helicopters regardles of design are almost useless when it comes to rudder commands while in forward flight or at least at speed. Never try to turn the aircraft with the rudder unless your flying at less than 50 knots. Instead, turn like your flying a plank - bank. Use the rudder to co-ordinate or prevent slip - but dont use it to turn. Rudder is best used at low speeds for manuvering - that way it wont try to fling you in the opposite direction when you stop applying pressure. Other than that - a good flight - well done - i would let you be my wing man anytime. PS im not sure if the take off was intentional - but flying up and back like that is a manuver called a "helipad profile" and is used by pilots as it allows the pilot to lift without ever loosing sight of the pad - a good thing if a turbine was to malfunction. -
Well I thought I was a into flight sims but.....

How can the we (the community) improve gameplay?
talisman replied to Grimes's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Totally agree - the realisim of the DCS system should weed out what we in the UK describe as the "Muppets". More effort requiring a few more brain cells than your average Quake style flyer. A 3 minute startup normally sorts that. -

To be honest - i voted for all of them! -
If my memory serves me correctly - Helfire missiles have a limited shelf / flight life and according to Ed Macys book, quartermasters would get quite pissed if you returned with a full load. "Winchester" loads requiring the least paperwork.

Work continues............ Once again you all get to see the cup that supplies the wonder that is coffee. I managed to finish the wiring on the right panel last night and installed the new blue back lighting. Its looking sexy now. I have worked it out, im have now used approx 490 meters of wire and over 200 buttons, switches and diodes. I have also gone through: 2 cutting mats, 2 band saw blades, 2 soldering irons, and 5 packs of solder. eeep.

I would just like to stick my oar in and say that i am also a cadet with the 104th, and a brilliant bunch they are too. If your worried - i have been on their TS server a few times and always there are pilots from the UK in there. I did join the 159 but find it frustrating because i cant join proper because i dont fly the planks. I still hang about their forums though. :)

Greetings Ruahatu, Thank you for your kind words. The BU0836 cards do not know the state of the switches in the simulator, the cards only function as a "joystick button" and as such dont communicate with the simulator. I use a program called Xmapper which sends a keystroke to the simulator when a switch is flipped. For example - if i hit the toggle for ground power - the Xmapper software first sends a keystroke for the switch cover - then the swith - then the switch cover. If i hit the toggle again, the same happens. When first starting the sim - i have to make sure that all of the toggles are in the correct places before startup otherwise things can get confusing. I dont see this as a problem - because even if the simulator did know the positions - they would still all need to be reset anyway. I just hit pause first. No editing of the LUA need to be done - full stop. I hope this answers your questions :) EDIT - Xmapper shoud read Xpadder!

sound and text for me! -
you might be right - but these look to be based on a product that is actually built in a factory some where in china - namely the Thrustmaster Elite rudder pedals. I know the Saitek ones are of a very good quality and certainly no one around me has ever complained - But i do know that they do have a habit of sticking and getting jammed. This seems to be a common problem. However i have never seen anyone ever replace them. :) The thrustmaster ones above are very good, and are good and strong and would be a good product to base a design on, my only worry is that the re-designed ones seem a little delicate. Perhaps others will have a better idea.

Me jumps up and down in anticipation. :)

Also this - Basically the same idea by a chap over at the simHQ forum called Grizzly - who by the way has an amazing pit for EECH anti-torque_pedals.pdf

Just had a look about for you to see if i could find any info on them. I found this ebay listing (not mine lol) Has a better picture of the pedels and i must say they look more than a little flimsy in my book. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Simped-Flight-Simulator-Rudder-Pedals_W0QQitemZ200426796245QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_ComputerComponents_JoysticksJoypadsGamepads?hash=item2eaa5e34d5

These look like the old thrustmaster pedels with a hall sensor and usb electronics. I made these myself with a bu0836 for £40.

oh dear, i got bored again. That means that its time for me to take perfectly good panels and "improove" them, it also means that everyone has to eat at the kitchen table as i have the dining room one covered in crap. That was the state of play as of 3 nights ago, as you can see its a proper mess, but it all tidied up now. Just trying to figure out how i had connected the switch matrox took a couple of hours head scratching. This was yesterday evening, the new toggle panel is in place and its starting to come together. The PSU in the back there is behind some accrilic and is used to power most of the pits accessories. It has more than enough juice to power panel lights, a monitor, and approx 20 indicator lights. The cut down keypad PVI-800 can be seen on the top of the panel. This is today - the panel is complete, i have added the extra lighting toggles and the Abris bittons. It does not have all of the functions - but it does have everything needed to start - fly - and kill. Because i have used accrillic sheets - each if the panels are now fully backlit. This is a closup of the front panel. You will see a couple of switches that have odd names "Radios/Eject sys" is one of them. These buttons have a number of keystrokes tied to them. then this button if flipped, all of the radio toggles and the eject seat arm toggles will be activated one after the other. This is a little macro of the startup procedure but keeps the number of toggles required down and makes it easier to fly. The cheapo keypad on the top - sits in a recess and, i think - looks quite good. It works perfectly. A little taster of things to come. The acrillic sheet on the left of the panel monitor will be the datalink panel. I cant go overhead - so the datalink and the counter measures will go in ither side of the 15" monitor. Thats all for now folks.......

Have you tried just setting the in game resolution of the blackshary to the resolution you want. I have TH2G as well and have never set the res using the SGU software. I always use the ingame settings. EDIT - i didnt see that your using widescreen monitors - that means you have the digital version - i have the analogue version and its probably not the same. sorry. ill read slower next time. -
You need to take some tablets my friend and perhaps calm down a little. My comment was not ment to be offensive, i was just pointing out that a lot of work has gone into this patch and $15 dollars is not a lot of money for a new game engine and MP options. I could have been issues as a stand alone game after all. You on the other hand WHERE being offensive and that does not show you in a good light. Dr Watson has commented above and has not taken offence (and he is right to) - please leave others to voice their own oppinions before you jump in waving a very misdirected fist at others. I shall say no more on the subject. (Apologies for the minor hijack - please continue....... :)
