Uuuuaaaah..! I have started building now..!
talisman replied to Triggerhappy69's topic in Home Cockpits
looks to me that the button activates the motor which pulls the "rope" the end of the rope has a toggle which hits the microswitch - this "opens" the circuit and turns off the motor. The "rope" then starts to move back under spring tension - this closes the circuit and the motor pulls it back up until the motor is switched off again. Is that about it? Simple and effective. A tip would be to have a spring on the end of the drive belt before the actuator and have the drive belt pull slightly more than is needed to activate the brake. This will isolate the "undulations" that the motor will produce to just the motor and drive belt. -

Non push button interfacing
talisman replied to sweinhart3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
i have around 140 switches and pushbuttons. I use the pause method of making everything is set correctly. After around a month or so of constant flying i can simply run my hands over the panels and place each switch in the correct position. I dont need to use software to tell the sim where the switches are set - because i still need to set them anyway. I just used a checklist and learnt it by heart. This is by far the best insentive to not get shot down in the first place. lol -

This is what will happen! You will start playing the game - soon you will think "This is great - i really need rudders" Then, later you will think "I wonder if a TIR would help" Then - This is brilliant - i really need a few buttons and a collective and a cyclic and a couple of extra monitors and a ................ Its addictive and you will spend money. Im now on my 2nd version of my pit. -
Having great success with Night Attacks!

During ww2 a pilot by the name of John "Cats eyes" Cunningham was made famous by his telling people that he could find the enemy in the dark by eating carrots by the bag. It later transpired that the Mosquito NF11 he flew was equiped with the first top secret radar set. The story stuck and several bomber crews where instructed to tell the Germans upon capture that they where force fed carrots. :D -
Has there been any conspiricies involving UFO's flying in grid patterns leaving chemtrails? That would be the stuff of X files legend

Agreed - you dont need to lock to launch - If you can see it - you can kill it. -
Just in case you havent seen this one

Thats been floating around for a couple of years now. Still, just goes to show how much detail goes into the Black shark package. -
i can further clarify on that. Saitek gauges DO NOT work. Also - its a gauge thats drawn on a monitor - which as far as i understand is not what you want. You want accurate steam gauges. There are companies out there that do make steam gauges - simkits being on of them. But again - getting these to work with lockon or DCS is nearly impossable. For FSX though - plug and play. There are other options - a monitor with LOVP or BSVP would also work - this is my solution. (see my simpit build in my sig) I also use the Thrustmaster MFD's on my on my main panel, these are easy to customise and work out of the box with lockon and DCS. Gadroc is right on showing you the link to mikesflightdeck - this is an astounding book and will teach you a lot about everything you need to know. Talisman Out.

The datalink system must be placed into standby before the ingress/uncage auto slew will work. Sorry. Yes the inu system can be very precice - i find that often i will come directly to the target i had previously slaved.

Will trackir be worth it just for DCS A-10C
talisman replied to kingneptune117's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Other alternative is VRinsight Hat Track I have no idea if it works with DCS or FC2 though. -
To be honest - looking at youtube vids - A-10s are ofter called to the fight for "high value" targets and the like. If a patrol is under contact and risk being flanked - A-10s will be used to destroy compounds etc that contain just a few or unknown enemy numbers. You ever tried to see a person - hiding in grass - on a hill side at 200 feet? I have flown helicopters in real life and at anything over 300 feet, even at 100knts people are difficult to see - and those are joe public on the street. I think most A-10 pilots will shoot at an area given to them without ever seeing an individual let alone shooting at a specific infantry member.

Thats the difference - TrackIR just works - no faffing about - plug it in and OMG its working! As an ex user of freetrack - i find the trackIR to be probably 20 times better. After a week of using it - you will start shopping for games that use it - so "only A-10" wont count. -
brilliant - you cant possably blow this out of proportion - its too good. I remember driving to inverness - as i got to a corner of the road a tornado overtook me on the left, less then 20 feet from the cab of the truck i was a passanger in. i swear he did it for kicks. Its awesome looking down as these fast jets fly below you in a valley.

Sigh - Point completly missed. All i read was "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH temperature/chemical data". I dont care. The point of my post WAS that i dont care. Why are you trying to convice me - I dont care! Its all for the good, i dont care why, for whatever reason, all i know (like everyone else) is that the world is a better place for it. OK - settle down now. PS - i dont even know what Al Gore said and 99.99% of the popullation of the world dosent know either - they do as their asked. the world is asking people to recycle their car batteries and cardboard. This makes things better, I dont care why. Did they have the Themes barrier in 1066? The barrier was built for surge tides. Not for global warming - other wise there would be one in glasgow - bristol - aberdeen - dundee- manchester and - in fact EVERY other costal city in the world. But again - i dont care.

looks like it :)

I have been reading this with some interest and i would like to point out a different point of view. I am a layman, im intellegent enough to see the world around me from an open minded perspective and i feel that i am able to grasp meaning from most of the things that i study. Reading this thread has had me giggling like mad though. All this talk of holes in the ozone layer and Hydrocarbons is making no sense at all. Firstly, the hole in the ozone layer may have been there forever, i dont know, neither does anyone else who isnt a professor. As far as i am concerned they only discovered antartica in 1860 and its not like they kept graphs of the resident suntan levels. Wasnt 1860 kind of around the beginning of the industrial revolution? Secondly - rising sea levels - ice caps melting ect.. Does ice not float? Surely it would displace its own weight? I see tapastries made in 1066 with london tower on them - and low and behold - the big iron dock rings are still the same height from the water as they are now nearly 1000 years later. So thats my evidence - i dont care about complicated carbon chains - lines of flux and other scientific mumbo jumbo. Now considering that i am the typical member of the population - neither does anyone else. BUT - before i get flamed by over intellegent types - i will say this: We may be being lied to by the government - or we may not, global warming - chemtrails might be around or they might not, it does not matter. Why? Because nothing bad can come of this conspiricy (if it is one) as its for the good of mankind. Sometimes the best way to motivate a populus is to scare the hell out of them, this has been done a few times for varoius reasons. Usually war. So, real or not, conspiricy or not - who cares, i dont have to walk down a street covered in litter or drag plastic bags out of my hedge. I have a mobile phone powered by the very latest in battery technology and drive the most efficient car i have ever owned. My kids dont even know what acid rain is! Thats a good thing. This is the first thing to motivate the entire world - something that hasnt happened since ww2. Now if only we coud do the same with religion...........in fact i have heared from a scientific friend of mine that believing in a god will make the rainforests die!!!!!!!! Its true! :P

Now i didnt know that. Thanks!

Why do you have your fingers on the trim button in the first place? Pop up, come out of Auto Hover, hit the Flight Director button - this works the same was as flying with trim in. You have full control throughout your manuvers and still keep the inflight stabs. This is how it should be done. If your trimming and trying to manuver for a kill, the last thing you need is the AP to be fighting you. simples.
