I do love your vids Waldo. "Hmm - what dont we need - Autopilot, lets turn that shit off, we are real men" As a serious note though - i have been through probably a dozen or so vids on the Counter Measures setup - Waldo made the only Video tutorial i ever understood on the subject. So well done mate.

I cant remember who did it - but i once saw a brilliant vid by a guy who took the aircraft up fo about 1000 meters - and did a shutoff and restart as he was falling. Brilliant. Best way to do it - learn or die! On a serious not - wags tutorials (producers notes are still on my harddrive and i still refer to them, got me going and flying like a pro in no time.

just so you know - i want one, no - quibble, no - i want one now and if i can afford it ill see if its alright, no - say i want it now and not bother. Just a nice simple, have money - will pay.

i remember moving from the Bell 206 in FSX to the shark and feeling like a duck out of water. The first thing that you will notice is just how "tonka" like the experience was with FSX. Keep at it and really het to grips with it. I still have FSX on my system - but i havent run it in a year.

ok - you need to fuel up first - no fuel - no APU - no APU - no engines set radio to ground - hit / select F10 - then Fill her up. - after that - left win - home.

ahhh i see - i stand corrected. :)

HUD's where first designed to use easily available round cathode ray tubes or Green screen monitors which used a single colour phosphor.(sp) They used the same technology found in old green screen computers, because of this - the green is actually controllable depending on the brightness selected by the pilot. Turn this down - light green which is less intense, turn it up - bright radiant green - much more green. They used green because it was easier to filter. The refractor on the HUD is designed to reflect the green light but allow other light to pass through thus reducing glare. Other CRT tubes where also used - early ones used yellow phosphor which was adjustable in the same way. Now most are LCD based and allow green light to pass through to the reflector.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
talisman replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
sooooo, moving on, Although i am a rotorhead - i wouldnt mind jumping in a Tornado. BUT, imagine what a VTOL raptor would be like! That wouold make me a happy chappy - never gonna happen of course (not till its de-classified) but how much fun would that be??? -
You miss the point though. As was stated above an Attack Helicopter is a 100% all terrain Infintryman. You woulnt send infantry against a jet. Helicopters have an alltogether different role. Most will function not as a chopper against jet solution - but as a mobile JTAC against ground forces or simply as spotters. No army in their right mind would send a chopper aginst fast movers. It is not their role. Having a discussion about who could waste who in a fight is pointless - if a mission designer puts a chopper in direct conflict with a jet - he has failed. The KA-50 is a special forces helicopter used when suprise is the best method of attack. So - when your a 5000 feet and you locking up another jet and you think all is well and your winning!! Ill be in the trees at 20 feet and shooting up your airfield. :) Try killing me when you cant get off the ground :D

Jocman's Cockpit (will be a long, long work....)
talisman replied to Jocman's topic in Home Cockpits
ok, i understand - ill leave you alone abou the pictures :P Thank you for the ones you did post. :) Good luck with the pit. -
But this is a community - communities are full of different kinds of people. The thing i love to see about this community is that there is a nice balance of oppinion. For every 3 people saying "hurry up i cant wait" There are another 2 saying "Settle down and hold your horses". Why would you lock a thread that this balanced. Anyway - its threads like these that give me so much to read - and a reason to keep coming back. - anyway, back to it guys. :)

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
talisman replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am one of the team of organisers for a large flight sim convention here in the United Kingdom - http://www.fscweston.co.uk I have been talking to Gillimot (who represent Thrustmaster) and they wanted to preview the controls at our event on may 15th. However due to the date of release being pushed back it looks like this wont be happening. The post above sounds like the same sort of scenario - i should imagine they have has a setback with the manufacturing process and not the controls themselves. That would explain the sudden dissaperance of the page referred to above. The price shouldnt change to much though. Ill keep you all informed. -
I wish i could - but no second computer and frame rates dropping to 5 or 6 makes it impossable :( sigh.

Ironically the MI-24 is an aircraft that i CAN actually play around with. As part of my playtime i get to play with all sorts of ex USSR hardware. The Hind i refer to was used in east Germany to patrol the Berlin wall. I was sat in an MI-24 last week, did you know that they use some of the same panels as the Ka-50? I didnt, but they do!
-
im still in - and im in the UK so ill get it much cheaper !! He He
-
lol - Its true though - noone will ever be in a situation there they can get into a KA-50 and fly it around. (not unless they want to vanish for a long long time once the authorities find them) This will never be resolved. Personally - im just going to pretend that if i did find myself in a real Shark! I would be able to fly it.

"Do you know what it's like to be legally responsible for the lives of three other people" Most people on this forum will know Exactly how this feels! Or even more - to be responsible for the Childs Life in the back seat or anyone coming towards you on the same road. Anyone with a car licence knows what this feels like. Rfactor turns me into a foaming at the mouth, hell or death driver who crashes all the time. Sitting im my car turns me into a serious, responsible driver. I think for most people sitting in a real life helicopter would produce the same results.

About a year ago i was given a 2 hour flying lesson by my wife. The instructor asked if i had any experience flying and i said i had about 100 hours in slight sims and that i had built an almost full size sim (at that time a bell 206) I was debriefed and he asked me the startup procedures - i told him and we started up. As we where hover taxiing to the runway he handed me control of the aircraft. (r22) It took about 2 or three minutes to het used to the rudder then i was away. From that moment untill we landed (hover to a bay) i had full control of the helicopter. The instructor even remarked that it was brilliant because he could enjoy the view for once and sat there with his arms folded :) Untill that day i had never even been in a real helicopter. The most difficult thing for me was the fact that my body became involved in the flight - having your ears telling you things that your not used to - is weird at first. I was invited back and told that if i could hover on my first lesson - i would do well. So in short - yes flight simulators can teach you to fly a real bird. In fact hovering the real thing is slightly easier as you have physical cues as well as visual.

is it still worth it to buy blackshark?
talisman replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I buy everything they make - just to support them and guarantee more in the future. Its more then worth the money. -
Uuuuaaaah..! I have started building now..!
talisman replied to Triggerhappy69's topic in Home Cockpits
At this rate you will need a pilots licence to fly the bloody thing. Getting crazy now :)
