  1. I have a problem with this same mission, I think I might've had a similar issue with the TGP but I will have to check once the run the mission again and reply. My actual problem which is kind of annoying is: After takeoff I like to hurry to the tanker and top off at the Waypoint 1 staging area, the quicker you find the tanker the better. Unfortunately I have to use the Map view to get in the general area of the tanker and then use my FCS to get closer from there, my TACAN will not direct me to the tanker, it points me off in another direction. I have TACAN selected on the HSI I have the Channel set to 1X and (A/A TR) as described in the mission briefing (Y wasn't implemented when this mission was created I believe) I have my COMMS set to 265.00 to speak with the Tanker (this works fine) Is this a bug with the mission? Was the mission created by ED and if so will they eventually update it to incorporate all the changes since Viper release? One quick question: How do I make my AI wingman refuel? Thanks - I know it's a million questions but I've been meaning to ask for a while.
  2. That is just beautiful, thanks for letting me know! I hope that is one of the official ones.
  3. I wanted to ask if this was an actual livery/paint scheme, of course it wouldn't be used in combat but I like it a lot. It would be nice if it was added as part of the default liveries that come with the F-16. How does that work? Does ED only add official liveries?
  4. Normally what I do is look down at the trim panel on start up and do one click of the mouse wheel up (or away from the pilot/to the outside of the cockpit) and it's really close to center without having to got back and forth. I don't use the trim hats I have mapped anymore for trimming out the TGP.
  5. Ok, at least I have confirmation that I'm not the only one.
  6. So you've never found a fix? I've had the Tomcat for about a month and this only came up now after reinstalling the game. I will try the DCS Update repair then to see. Thanks for the response.
  7. Cannot Open Debriefing File Cannot Open Debriefing File: Getting this after doing Instant Action missions in the F-14 after reinstalling my DCS after the latest update. First time I've ever gotten this, is there something I can try besides the repair form CMD prompt? Thanks!!
  8. Thanks guys! It seemed like it was going into slave mode but the diamond would not stay locked on the target when I pressed Enable Switch. I just wanted to know what it was for, I will not map it for now and replace it with cursor control for now and cross that bridge when the Mavs are out. Funny thing is I didn't realize I had it mapped at all must've done it day 1 of Viper release. I appreciate the explanation!!
  9. Hello Guys, I was looking for a button on my joystick to map RDR Cursor Switch - UP when I realized I mapped the Enable switch depress when the Viper first came out, I can't fire out what it does or what it's for. It seems like it uncages the Aim 9 seeker head but I am not sure.
  10. Well, the TGP looks ahead 3 degrees or so above the nose, with some practice I noticed this is just above the gun-sight. How far above the gun-sight depends on the targets distance so at about 40 miles its about 6-8 degrees above the gun-sight. You can't lock him at that range but if he is heading towards you or away for you you can put the TGP into "Rates' mode and it locks to a point in space. Given the lack of relative side motion you can pretty much keep an eye on the target. Within 20 miles you can lock an aircraft with the TGP (TMS Up) and it will stay locked and stabilized on him unless you mask. It's really interesting, I used the Aim 9-X / Aim 120 instant action missions to practice using the TGP. Almost forgot, I set the TGP to the OSB's that are empty if that makes sense. If you click on the optionless OSB's twice you can choose what you want it to display. I do this for every mode except NAV (Dogfight, MRM, AA) so I know when I am in NAV mode. I hope that makes sense.
  11. Thanks. I learned to do the landing without trim, I was confused, I wasn't expecting the VFR training mission to tell me to add trim on the base leg.
  12. I just recently discovered this mode since I thought it wasn't implemented at all yet. Curious to know if anyone is also using the TGP for air to air. So far in my trials I am finding it useful for ID beyond visual but it doesn't slew to locked targets like the manual suggests. Are any of you guys also using the TGP for air to air or do you consider it too much of a hassle and not worth the effort at this point?
  13. From what I understood from the early Wags F-16 videos it's not like the Hornet, you don't need to trim but use the stick to get to 11 degrees AOA. I just played the VFR landing mission and I was instructed to hit nose trim up two to three times. I am now confused, I learned how to do it without trimming (not that I get it right all the time) but now I am not sure which way is the correct way.
  14. Thanks for posting that Vulkan video that pretty damn impressive, I feel like going AMD to stay ahead of the curve and be ready for Vulkan but that's probably at least two years out at this point. By then the CPU market will have changed considerably. I wonder if it would be worth it to got to AMD for now or wait until Zen 4? As for my 6700K I was using the motherboard utility to OC it to 4.4ghz and up to 4.5ghz, I also used the Intel tool but when I upgraded to the latest BIOS I lost the ability to go to 4.5ghz and never went back to try it. For some reason the MOBO utility will not save the setting on reboot so most of the time I forgot to run it and OC, I will try again when I get home today and check it out.
  15. I am having the same issue, I upgraded my graphics card (980ti - 2080 Super) and I see the ghosting issue less in single player but I still struggle in multiplayer. (Current CPU - 6700K) Would upgrading processor help and if so which route? AMD 3700/3800/3900 or Intel 9700/9900K? I've looked all over the forum but there isn't really a consensus for VR. If I can get my VR to run smooth in multiplayer servers which are taxing I would be over the moon.
  16. THANK YOU for this free event, the fact that it was on sale really had me thinking about picking it up, getting in it in VR sealed the deal for me. Excellent marketing tactic here, you've got at least one person that is going to pick it up before the sale is over!
  17. I plan to! One bird at a time though..lol
  18. I appreciate the input. Sounds more like flying a P-40 or rather using P-40 tactics.
  19. Hello, I'm not sure which Warbird to go with, I like the P-51 but watching videos it seems a bit neutered in DCS. The only other Warbird I would consider is the 109 but I do not like the K-4 variant I like the lighter F-4. Back to my question, please don't take this the wrong way. I been watching videos and reading a bit and the Pony seems a bit neutered compared to the other fighters why is that? Is this an variant of the D Mustang? From what I understood the Pony was overall better in all regimes than it's counterparts except for in certain specific scenarios. (I probably wrong it's just what I recall) I figured I would ask to gather as much info as possible, I will more than likely still go with the Pony as my first warbird but wanted to see if I could get some info from the people who fly her in DCS. DCS Warbird Wishlist: F4F-4 Wildcat F6F-4 Hellcat P-38-G/J/L (doesn't matter which) P-47 Jug (Already no the way and I cannot wait)
  20. I ditched the Oculus Tray Tool and decided to try the in game settings as a last resort. MSAA x4 really cleared up my issue, it's not perfect but it makes it a hell of a lot more playable in multiplayer. I tested GS server with all the settings down it's actually playable a bit laggy but playable, other servers showed more improvement. SSAA seemed to intensive but more testing is required, I see a ray of light finally! I appreciate your feed back Harlikwin, it helped to at least bounce some ideas of off someone.
  21. I've updated everything I possibly could, I logged onto F99th with about 4-6 people and it's like my system can barely keep up, really disappointing/disheartening. Going to keep trying I like single and multiplayer since it's just me most of the time multiplayer is appealing, I will lower the settings to lower than low to see if that helps. It's going to look bad but as long as it's smooth. Maybe I should put this Rift S on sale and try for a Reverb.
  22. Yea those two servers (GS/TTI Caucasus) are mostly full, I try the TTI Nevada and Persian Gulf servers since they normally have less users but they don't look as good as you would think. I know both locations are in the dessert but it looks like IR radiating from the ground when I'm in there. I'm doing a round of Windows updates right now to see if maybe I need those I mean couldn't hurt. Do most VR users just play single player or create their own servers to use with buddies? Also, do most VR users have to keep lower settings? (at least for now until they do Vulkan or whatever fixes they plan on doing) I guess I'm just trying to also find out how most users experience is with VR, I hate it when the trees only populate as you are near them and I wonder if that's the same for everyone. Thanks for the response, I appreciate the help!
  23. Ping: GS Server: 29-32 TTI Caucus: 90 JDF: 144 Connection: Hard wired directly to the modem. Not sure what you mean: and number of "3L33t D00DZ" I guess it's Phrack or something but no clue...
  24. Hello, I wanted to see if perhaps I am doing something wrong or if this is just the way things are when it comes to DCS and VR on multiplayer servers. I bought a Rift S a couple of months ago and used it with my 980ti until I could afford an upgrade. I recently purchased a 2080 Super FTW3 and added an additional 16GB of RAM for a total of 32GB. My performance is quite bad when I play on multiplayer servers, it's choppy, laggy, and sort of looks like it's raining when I do a roll sometimes. It wasn't as bad with the 980ti, I keep the settings relatively low for multiplayer but bump them up a bit for single player campaigns/missions etc. I found Thud's Rift setup guide and have my setting pretty much the same. Is there anything I could do or try to get my experience to be better on multiplayer servers? For example Growling Sidewinder server is unplayable, Through the Inferno is playable but barely, in the JDF server I have issues appearing to lag to other players. Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated. I was a sworn TrackIR advocate until I decided to experiment by buying the Rift S and now I can never go back. System and Setup: i7 6700K - 4.5ghz 32GB of RAM 2080 Super FTW3 (I've overclocked the card a bit) Rift S Oculus Tray Tool Oculus Home disabled (I believe that's all the info that would be needed, if I missed something please let me know and I will gladly answer) Thanks!
  25. Thanks!
