AGM-65 Ripple Fire - Multiple Mavs loaded
SmoglessPanic replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I see. Yea, I wasn't looking to fire all 6 Mav's at one but form a rack of 6 fire one from each pylon, go around, setup again, and then fire the next two until I'm out of missiles. I think you guys are right, it's not implemented on on the rack that carries multiple Mavs. -
I can switch coordinates on the map in DCS but Blue Flag has it's onw map showing assets etc. http://gadget.buddyspike.net/ I want to be able to convert the coordinates from this map (if you hover over a base or Farp) to the correct format for the Viper, Hornet, and AV8B. I found the website below but it's not always 100% accurate. http://legallandconverter.com/p50.html It's a long shot but I figured I would ask, I would like to add the converted coordinates to my kneeboard this way I can add/edit waypoints on the fly without having to look at the F10 map or the Buddy Spike / Blue Flag website gadget.

I'm not able to ripple fire Mavs when I load 4 (2 per rack) or 6 (3 per rack) but I can ripple fire if I load a single Mav per pylon. Is this how it's supposed to be or it's just not been implemented for the racks that carry multiple Mavs?

Does anyone know a website to convert between the different coordinates types? AV8B / Viper / Hornet all use different formats, the Buddy Spike Blue Flag server website map has coordinates that are not compatible with the AV8B and the Viper. I figured out a way to crudely convert the coordinates but I was wondering if someone knew of a better website or method of converting between the three. I just know that one is decimal minutes and on is decimal seconds, not sure what the third set of coordinates are called.

I think this post might belong in the VR Bugs section, could a moderator please move this thread for me? Apologies. Thanks

I was on TTI Syria and I tried to AAF above the clouds. The tanker was all over the place, the desync was unreal. I was wondering if anyone else encountered this problem. I was: - In VR - Above the clouds (25k ft) - Multiplayer server - Trying to AAF, once you got close to the tanker the desync would start. I didn't get a chance to go back and test other servers or try another AAF since I had to cut my session short. I was able to AAF in a single player quick start mission though. I was wondering if anyone else ran across any desynch issues while AAF'ing.

Yea, I completely agree, IRL your constantly using the trim wheel, I'm studying or my PPL and trim is my best friend. It would be cool if ED can get that level of realisms someday, this trick does get me around the hat switch not being sensitive enough which tends to drive me nuts. I don't trim for asymmetric loads very often so I don't get into that dance of hat left, right, left, right, etc, I'll even AAF most of the time without trimming.

Is there a binding for the SPO-2B Sirena RWR power switch?
SmoglessPanic replied to SlipHavoc's topic in MiG-19 Farmer B
Gotcha! -
I see, it must be that it just clicked for me as well then, I honestly thought something drastic was changed with the FM. I've been getting a lot of enjoyment out of the 19 the last couple of weeks. Maybe one day I will move on to the MiG-21 collecting dust in my hangar lol. I appreciate the response.

I purchased the MiG-19 during a sale around this time last year (March 2020). I flew it for around a month or so trying to get the feel for her but I came away extremely frustrated. I was not able to rate fight the AI F-5's, even being careful my speed would bleed instantly and I'd end up at 400 km/h without much nose authority/control needing to dumb G to get the speed back up. I love the way the 19 looks, how it sounds, everything about it is just cool to me but I was so extremely frustrated every time I flew the module that I just put it on the back burner. I tried the MiG-19 a week ago or so once more and WOW what a difference, I don't know if I've changed, if the FM changed, or if it's DCS itself but man what a difference. I've been stuck in the 19 for the last two or so weeks and plan on doing some Cold War in that bad boy. Sorry for the long story, getting back to my original reason for this post. How much has the FM changed since this time last year? Am I imagining this magical change?

Is there a binding for the SPO-2B Sirena RWR power switch?
SmoglessPanic replied to SlipHavoc's topic in MiG-19 Farmer B
It seems the switch or panel on the right side of the cockpit was removed. I was using Chuck's Guide and spent quite few minutes looking for the RWR switch only to hover the mouse over the area where it was, get a clickable icon and click noise, and have nothing happen. I just wanted to see if the bulb would light up when an F-5 is behind me. Was the RWR not a part of the MiG 19 version we have in DCS and it was removed? I'm a bit confused. -
Turn Coordinator - Ball not centered when I use rudder.
SmoglessPanic replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I appreciate the responses. Thanks! -
I use rudder for my turns in the Tomcat as your supposed to. I noticed the turn coordinator is never really in the center when I'm using rudder. It doesn't seem like it's behaving as it really should even though I'm positive this is modeled correctly. I tend to ignore the ball and give her as much rudder as I feel she needs to keep me in the turn, it would be nice to fly coordinated though. Is it possible this is due to me having to set saturation on my T16000M rudders? If so, what saturation settings is everyone else using? (I used Chuck's guide settings) I would like to set it so I can get as close to 1 to 1 (full rudder on my pedals = full rudder in the Tomcat) is that even possible?

I've found that if I do two mouse wheel clicks up on the trim wheel during start-up with a TGP mounted I have no trim issues whatsoever during flight. Once ordinance is released that is another matter. I found counting the clicks of the mouse wheel and then removing that input helps more than using the trim hat switch most of the time after releasing ords. I agree, It's pretty tough to get trimmed out using the hat switches, I hope it gets fixed eventually but other things should come first.

Employing weapons when bandits hit "No Man's Land"
SmoglessPanic replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yea, the server auto-spawns the threats, the hardest ones spawn practically right next to you. I appreciate the suggestions, I will give it a shot in RWS, keep the Tomcat steady, reconfirm what the DL contacts on the radar look like, and I will not wait until 10 miles to use PAL. Thanks!!!!! -
Is my own radar locking my Sparrows after launch?
SmoglessPanic replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Understood. Thanks! -
It seems lately when I launch Sparrow missiles they don't seem to track after flying past my nose, I notice the crosshairs for what I believe is the TV camera briefly locks on to the Sparrow before moving back to the locked bandit. This doesn't seem to happen when I'm slightly offset form the locked bandit and the Sparrows seem to track better in these cases, could be confirmation bias but I figured I would ask. I know Sparrows aren't the greatest missile and the slightest thing can cause them to not track, I just want to make sure I'm not going crazy here. Thanks

I've had the Tomcat for a while and have been flying it more and more recently. I'm having problems employing weapons within visual range at that 12-18 mile range where Jester cannot lock the bandits and my pilot control modes don't quite gain a lock. What am I doing wrong? Can Jester actually lock bandits at these intermediate ranges and I'm just not choosing the right option on his menu? When I ask Jester to lock enemy target a head he says he cannot, by the time I get a lock there is a missile in my face. When my friend RIO's for me I don't have this problem so I know I must be doing something wrong. I'm using an offline TTI map to spawn in threats, the threats that spawn within 30 miles give me the most trouble when using Sparrows. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks

This issue sound to me like you have a problem with something centering. Set a deadzone on the little hat switch thumbstick thing on the throttle. I had some X-52's back in the day and the throttle thumbstick and the rotary dials get out of whack and need to be deadzoned. The one on the top of the throttle was one that constantly did it for me. If one of these buttons is not centered then it could throw off your stick movements. I have no problems with the F-16 landing, AAR, dogfighting, etc. As someone mentioned it sounds almost like the autopilot is on. I use a T16000M stick, throttle, and rudders without any issues. Hope this help, I can elaborate more if needed, rushing out of work at the moment ... lol

I tried using NVG's for the first time but no luck
SmoglessPanic replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Thanks! -
I had the crew chief switch me over to NVG's but I could not get them to work. We can use NVG's right? I believe the button to activate them is H if I'm not mistaken. Do I have to request NVG's before startup or I can request them at any point before taxi? AAR on a pitch black night is no fun at all, got hooked up but man was it tough holding position. Thanks
