Hey guys, I have been doing a lot of research on war and peace lately for school and I was thinking about how I would handle what's going on in North Korea right now. I was toying with the idea of having PSYOP platforms broadcasting wireless Internet into the country but didn't even know if the US had the capability. During my research I came across Marine Corps Lieutenant General Paul K. Van Riper, and read about what he did at MC 2002. Pretty interesting read. I don't know how many of you guys play CoD games, but calling in A-10s has to be the most satisfying thing I can do in multiplayer. It's just devastating to the other team's morale and makes me feel euphoric when I get the chance.

I wonder what the capabilities of this thing are. I noticed in the video she has clam shell TRs instead of sleeves. To me it looks like a 141 and a 17 had a Chinese baby. The Crew Chief in me really wants to know how they change the MLG tires. Can it integral jack or do they have to use a jack on site. Would really like to peak inside her cargo bay.

Basically I'm saying it's okay to have those thoughts of empathy for those involved in combat. In the virtual world, we get infinite lives.

Swift, I have struggled with the same war inside my head. I was in the Air Force for six years as a C-17 Crew Chief and feel pretty jaded about my participation in OEF and OIF. Did I ever pull a trigger? Nope. Did I ever participate in ensuring the people and weapons used in organized killing were delivered down range? Yes. Today I am a few terms away from getting a BA in International Studies. I have learned a tremendous amount about the developing world, global politics, and war. When it comes to games, I can't help but think about what what a real GAU round does to someone who doesn't have running water or cable TV. I can't help but think about what CoD does to the mind of a young kid contemplating joining the military. But I still play. Why? Well, when it comes to CoD, I am addicted to the mechanics of the game. It's a romance of little input with high output value. I'm not killing people, I am participating in a sport which gives me the same satisfaction as a match of soccer does for me. I stay away from the single player when it comes to CoD type games though. The fiction in those games are troublesome for me. DCS: A-10 on the other hand is a sim that requires great investment with a huge payoff when you get a handle on it. I feel fortunate enough to have the time and patience to involve myself with a such a sim. Because of DCS: A-10 I have a greater appreciation for the complexities of CAS and the chaos war is. It also satisfies the little kid inside of me that watched Top Gun too many times growing up, who was captured by the idea of being a fighter pilot. As an adult today, I am simply unable to endorse US Foreign Policy decisions when it comes to use of force. But in the virtual world, I get to pretend that everything is virtuous and I'm the good guy/they're the bad guy. Overall, I think it's healthy to contemplate what the reality is that these games reflect. :)

I was watching one through a Ustream broadcast on the first day of the airstrikes. You could hear the buzzing of UAVs non-stop. Hopefully things get more stable in the region soon.

Congrats! Speaking from an enlisted experience, just keep your eye on the ball and be ready to exercise extreme patience. And please treat the enlisted guys with respect. :) Shamandgg, I was a flying crew chief on 17s and I worked with loads who were from various nations around the world. I can't believe they didn't accept you.

I worked the ramp for six years and honestly never found a great combo. Basically always used ear plugs and my issued headset. If you are working in cold weather, I think you have better options for padding and comfort. Do you need just straight ear defenders or a headset?

I feel terrible for people who lose their jobs... but **** we spend a lot of money on the military. I just wish these firms could find other ways to retain their employees. Thanks for the link! I hadn't even heard of the WARN act. I read and talk about the defense budget a lot. I believe in what Eisenhower said in his farewell speech. It will be interesting to see what happens in January.

Alright I just read the T-50 is a hypersonic aircraft that can fire missiles at hypersonic speeds unlike the F-22 which has to slowdown. :doh: I gotta get off this website.

Hey guys, Just wondering if one of you could take a quick peak at this article in Pravda.
