Why Steam is NOT the answer
Panzertard replied to tusler's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Now you know why I don't eat McDonalds. Wendy's FTW! Jokes aside - Steam hasn't been hacked have they? You probably were hacked / leaked information while you surfed. You were the victim - not Steam. Anyone can get their online accounts hacked if they use internet. Internet is a dangerous place, nobody can give you a 100% safety guarantee, no software, no company. - Uploaded your personal images to a online service lately? (cloud) - Buying all your software online? You can easilly loose that information you use everytime you use these services. The best prevention from loosing personal information is to - change your surfing habbits. Yes. You, the user. - Stop clicking all of those funny links from your friends, "haha cool pict of Nnn, look here" - Stop playing all the Flash-games everywhere. - Never trust anyone sending you a link in IM, Facebook, Email, your smartphone. If you need the info that badly - you go find it manually yourself, make sure you found a trustworthy site. Why? - Flash is a favorite tool to break in / gain info. - Images can be a tool to break in / gain info. - No browser is the same - but they all have serious security issues. - there are ways of tapping everyone's computers, as long as they do surf the net. Eg someone could hit sony / facebooks quietly - just leaving a IFrame segment, Flash-snippet, compromised image - and they would probably getting data from 50% of the users visiting these sites. Not that I would rely on online services for any important aspects of my personal life. - But I would certainly trust Steam to keep a copy of my (32bit) games. - and make it available to me when I want to download / update it again. Which Steam does really well. -
Positive / Negative Reputation: - Something a user can issue to you if he dislikes or likes your post. - The use can choose to not leave a comment. You find the 'add to reputation', just below another users Avatar, at the very bottom. Warning: - Something a moderator can issue if you step over the forum rules. - You will always get an explanation for the warning. - Users cannot issue you a warning. You have no warnings issued - so I assume someone gave you negative reputation for a post they didnt like. No worries, keep posting good stuff and people will 'rep' you with poisitive ones as well.

Well, you could try a few more things first. - Tweak the AA? Not sure how, but check the other thread, didn't they mention that too there? - If your user settings was saved in the \user\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2, you can rename the folder there "LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2" - -> "OLD - LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2" This way you reset all user settings, and try again without tweaking too much.
-
options.lua You may have to turn on "show hidden files and folders" in Windows. If you have Vista/Windows 7 Either in - C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Config or directly in: - C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Config If you have 64bit editions of Vista/Win7, you need to look for "Program Files(x86)". If you have Windows XP you may just go to the program files - and skip the 'users\appdata' suggestion.
-
You should try - to see if it makes a difference, yes.

Looks a little bit like the bloke in this thread: Can't Get Detailed Ground Textures See the last posts on page 2 and 3 there, perhaps you have something of the same issues?
-
We found a problem with the F5 views, we're going to retest it before 1109 now to make sure it's been fixed.
-
Hm, 40x40km. I guess that had to choose - lots of details on ground, but smaller maps.

Mission Design, ABRIS map combat Box & Flags.
Panzertard replied to OGREMAN's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
1. You need to use the 'prepare mission' from the ME and get into the cockpit. Then you need to use the ABRIS in cockpit and add more objects to the flights. - Page 163, add lines and other objects - Then save the new routes and data, p. 161-162 Exit SIM mode and get back to ME. All KA-50 (Player & MP Clients) flights now have the additional data stored in the ABRIS harddrives. 2. 'Activate' or 'Spawn' extra Ka-50 in MP. Sorry, not possible. -
Strange problem, it looks a bit what some people have complained about in DCS:A10 as well. - I would suggest looking more closely at the grphics drivers, perhaps a driver clean sweep? And a reinstall of the drivers. - Perhaps if you install it yet again, (without any mods) to the root of the hardrive, C:\Games\FC2 This way we can eliminate any problems with the old install & corrupt settings.
-
Isn't the Options -> Misc -> Allow F5 working? You need to resave your mission after you change this option, the option will be saved in the mission. The options are saved from the mission designers computer.
-
Sir, you have to wrong focus. You didnt buy the activations - you payed for the right to use DCS, the simluator. You can use your product. Stop focusing on the activations. Please contact support when you're out of activations, and they will be able to assist you. Thread closed.

instantly 10 degrees climb? wow, nope - never had any such spikes on my stick. Touching the stick I might be able to nudge it +/- 0,1 degrees - or finer, or there about. Default settings - no Target software running. No other USB bloatware running for that matter.
-
Yes, thats correct, failures cannot be used for MP.
-
I haven't. I'm happy with it as it is - straight out of the box.
-
No. It's like your average shopping cart from your local mall - even if you put on the brakes, the wheel themselves can still rotate.

MODIFYING SERVERFILES - Radio 'TASK' for missions.
Panzertard replied to Panzertard's topic in User Created Missions General
ModMan is a "Manager to install Mods" for quite alot of Flightsims, including FC2, DCS:BS as well as DCS:A-10C Very often used for Skin mods, cockpit mods, weapon mods etc - but also any other kind of file-mod. It will take care of: - Take backup of the original files - Installing a mod to the game, correctly - Allow users to uninstall mods easilly, and correctly. - Lists all mods installed - Create new mods with a builtin mod-maker. This way a user will know what they have installed. This way they can remove mods before running a patch - or remove mods just to troubleshoot. -
Download the full version of 1.1.0.8 - no need to use 1.1.0.7->1.1.0.8 patch http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=8&end_pos=135&lang=en And again - do not confuse your activations with 'it's the end of life for my product'. If you run out, simply contact Support, and you'll recieve more activations. There's nothing unfair about this method. But if you choose to install 1.1.0.7 - activate it - upgrade to 1.1.0.8 and activate it too, well, there you go. Your choice. You chose to spend activations. You don't have to activate 1.1.0.7 - before an upgrade. You don't have to use 1.1.0.7 at all. You can go directly to 1.1.0.8 full version. So know you know how to avoid it, happy flying. ;)

Can't be done - yet. Such a feature has been requested, but right now you either put the statics there (or a similar AI unit) or not. If you're not looking for a Farp, Structure - but a vehicle, then you have the option of: - Making a group, set starttime for later - Use a trigger and set the group to 'Group Disable AI'. But it only work for emulating 'static' vehicles - you can't emulate 'static' structures, helipad or other units like that.
-
1.1.0.8 would cost one activation - it's part of the upgrade. ED gave all customers 1 extra activation so you shouldn't run out. Anyway - being out of activation doesn't mean your game cannot be used anymore. Submit a support ticket when you hit 0, and support will refresh your account.

Gent's - I must ask you to show caution regarding Speeds 'Radio / TASK mod'. Inserting a addon into a server - via a mission can cause much grief for server admins who doesn't know about this feature. I've experienced this first hand. Yes, some of you do have mentioned the MOD in your mission-text - but it is insufficiently labeled and very easilly missed. What happens is: - You release a mission with this addon. - The missions lacks a *clear label* such as "WILL MODIFY YOUR SERVER-FILES, use with caution. Please do not report bugs if you have this mod installed". - The addon is inserted to server, the server crashes. - The admin restarts the mission, and is oblivious to the changes. Some admins have complained that 'their mission / radio is not working, it was working fine yesteday' - which can be caused by combination of this method and other issues in DCS. What may happen later: - Later, bad stuff may happen - crashes are reported in the bug section, and nobody knows that this addon has been installed. - Patch updates may fail if the Server.lua is modified. And some people still doesn't know that it has been installed. Please, do not insert addons via a mission. Please use ModMan to release the addon - and tell Server-admins to install it using ModMan. This way there will less confusion regarding 'non working AI / tasking', 'server crash', and upcoming 'patch issues'. PS. The script & features themselves are good. But keep in mind when you get problems with your mission & server, please deactivate this script. Check the "\SCRIPT\NET\Server.lua" and look for a "Server-old.lua", and swap the files to disable the mod.

Why is there no track file attached to this problem? Could have saved you gents from 2 pages of debate. ;)
