  1. And missiles tracking other missiles ! For how long is that happening? for me its long enough to be considered a ''feature'' of the sim tbh, which is sad. I mean, the missile is already in a terrible state that you have to get 4nm close to a HOT enemy to have a high pk shot, only for it track the enemy missile like some kind of iron dome system. Not even arcade games have this level of nonsense.
  2. They will fix it when Heatblur releases the Typhoon and the Hornet still dominates it in every scenario

  4. Yesterday i had 2 AiM-120s plenty of energy (mach 2+) missing an F-16, one while he was going cold and another while he was hot. To be honest an AiM-9 has a higher PK than the 120c right now. The missile is easily trashed by the notch, actually everything is about the notch in DCS right now, making every other defense pointless. Yeah, makes for fun gameplay in competitions and multiplayer, but not realistic at all. Please ED, take a look at this, its not only the AiM-120 that is affected, SD-10 and R-77 also.
  5. Interesting read ! The way that notching active missiles works in dcs right now feels like a meme, pass through the notch for half second and the spike instantly drops... i mean, seems waaayyy off compared to what i've heard around there... I have just anecdotes, but you provided some proof ! I hope that ED sees your post!
  6. i have experienced the same problem yesterday, maybe the range loss due to the look down angle is a bit exaggerated?

  8. Or because its not smart to ask for someone to shoot a fox 3 on your plane to find out that you radar wouldn't be able to track it. Where is the source that says the RCS of the Aim-120? or where does it say that the APG-73 is capable of tracking A/A missiles? All of this is based on guesses and ''what if'', no proof, just guesses, ED is making their own reality. ''There is no tactics regarding shooting AAMs'' maybe because this doesn't work? if it worked i'm sure pilots would train for it, because being able to do something like this could save their lifes. But you just can't.
  9. I'm imaging IRL pilots asking for someone to shoot an amraam at them to validate if the radar would or wouldn't be able to lock it, even better, shoot it down with another amraam... What i'm trying to say is, there is no evidence of such thing IRL, ED just pulled this out of nowhere and is modelling it based on ''what if'' and guesses, and the lack of evidence will probably lead them to model this wrong, like the fantasy we are seeing right now. I'm not doubting that a radar could detect an air to air missile, but reliable tracking it and shooting it down its a pure meme. Tell what is happening in dcs rn to any real fighter pilot and i'm sure they will die in laughter.
  10. SAM radars have much more energy than an onboard fighter radar. And i've never heard of a SAM being able to track and shoot down an Aim-120 or Aim-54. Shooting down a cruise missile flying at subsonic speed? yeah, sure. But shooting down an Aim-120 / 54 / R77? lol.
  11. So if you want to model things realistically, please don't go too far on modelling stuff that you guys don't have evidence about. I know that some things in DCS need some guesswork, but tracking and shooting down A/A missiles is a bit of a fantasy.
  12. Some of you on this thread have a lot of knowledge regarding missiles. So, i'd want to ask you guys about this https://streamable.com/4xacy4 . I recorded this tacview from a fight that i had in the current patch. Is this the correct behavior for a modern ARM? Should the notch be an insta win tatic against missiles as it is right now? Me, as an enthusiast, heard that the notch isn't used by the pilots to defeat missiles, instead, it is used as a decision making moment, where you decide if you're going to recommit into the fight or if you're going to extend cold to defend an incoming missile. I've also heard that chaff is so worthless against modern ARM missile seekers that its more probably that the plane's radar gets fooled by chaff rather than the missile seeker (and even that is very unlikely to happen). I dont think that the current behavior of DCS missiles in regard to CCM / Notch resistance is right.
