Fantastic work and a great montage, thanks for sharing.

You know what, that is awesome.....

Ive just been looking for a new monitor and the following seems to be OK: LG 34UM67 Ultrawide monitor Its 34inch and has a resolution is 2560*1080 - would that look odd in DCS, like would it try and squash the cockpit. Price is $640 Aussie Dollar which is affordable. I was also thinking a projector, Benq W1070 but 1920x1080 - what size would you get that resolution at? Say in comparison to a 34" widescreen could you get 1920x1080 with say a 50" display? I have to admit knowing nothing about projectors and screens except I do want a bigger main screen. Thanks

It could be a bug, or just a change. If you select a resolution that is different to your profile it creates a problem. So in my case i select in options 2048x1152 which is my top monitor. I then select the profile A-10c virtual cockpit server which spans 2048x2304 and then I get the problem that half the GUI and screen is on the lower second screen. Same with other multi screen setups where the resolution is different. I want the GUI and the Sim on the top screen but the exported MFDs on the lower screen...

BN you are a genius. Thank you, OMFG i looked at every .lua in the bloody game folder, changed DCS.openbeta to DCS.openbetaSAVE and opened DCS, saw it create a new DCS.openbeta file and it worked. Thanks pal!! :-)

Not getting an answer, anyone from the developers read these forums / have an idea? I'm going to have to re-install it, this is why I like hardware, I think that all new pc programs should be available on USB memory sticks with a box and paper manual.....ahh the nostalgia of DCS on DVD!!
-
Probably not a 1.5 issue but I managed to mess around with the resolution and now DCS only shows up on one screen. The problem is, the part where you press 'OK' to accept changes is hidden. So I am stuck here, with the resolution spanning over two screens but the bottom screen not doing anything. I have tried restarting, it does the same in game, ive tried to change the resolution as that is just visible in the top screen under options but then I cant press save changes as its hidden at the bottom. Does anyone know which .lua file needs editing?? Thanks.

Stop right there....it looks beautiful. So whats behind this: What are the limitations on the connections to each port (eg. the A-10C ACHP has >15 buttons per panel) Please show us the insides Does each connector represent a panel in the F/A-18 What do you know about the F/A-18 because i was thinking of basing my future multipit off it as I like the layout Anything else you want to share

Hey firedawg, I'm not buying at the moment but perhaps if you post a guide price it might help? Panels look good but it's a pity the pictures aren't embedded. Are you painting over white or using engraving plastic?

Perhaps it is telling us....Upgrade.. I am happy with my 52 though, does what i need!

tried a few things, even though in my setting for trim is pinky + pov and DMS is just POV it doesn't register what I type and overrides it. I put coolie as pinky + hot but it wont let me select SOI. Anyone else got any joystick issues? Everything else has worked a charm!
-
I just mapped the Hotas in the A-10C to my X52 and it doesn't work as mapped. Eg. I have POV for head (not tried Track IR yet) then modifier and POV for Trim. Center head is button 4. Half of the movement is correct, Ie he looks left but right trims the aircraft and right plus modifier turns his head and button 4 doesn't center head. Im going to fiddle around but wondered if anyone else using an antique X52 is experiencing this? Love the improvement though! And as a bonus I noticed through my modules I bought A-10C in beta! I must have purchased the box version a while later too. Can never give enough support although thats why im stuck with the 52 for now!

Duckling you cut a WH Hotas in half - dedicated!! Respect.

When I worked at BAe, I cant remember if it were Farnborough or Famillies Day but they had an ejection seat, it was a full on Martin Baker seat but you "loaded" it with a winch against a spring. Strapped in, pull the handle and the spring fired you about 5 feet up a guide rail. I recommend it!

First panel I made I "ripped" a keyboard, I followed some guide on the internet to create that matrix! I got the bug there. I like your panels and the CDU idea is great, whilst I love the real CDUs the guys here build with screens (I had a dabble myself at a Eurofighter one) in A-10 I would rather look at the MFD in CDU mode than a 5" screen down in my side panel. (Not bagging anyone for proper CDU, just how I play - respect!!)

Amazing, it looked like a real puzzle!! Sorry on your loss and I hope you get to build a pit to complement the fantastic seat!

Multi-monitor setup with MFCD's and other things
Mr_Burns replied to ViXaAGe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Have you got a thread on that setup? Are they all from the video card or are the MFD ones USB? -
As a complete nob(i intentionally left out the o) i was struggling trying to find two rotaries for my panel, one which had three positions and one with four. I was in the shop testing them from the same box, which had 3 which had 4...why were they all in the same box. Then when I got the right ones and threw away the washer with the bit in the hole, I just assumed they were all 12 position and i just wired up the 4 i needed. I know, usually I am quite intelligent, but I only figured it out building the panel with the steer pt and page. And as mentioned above, my skills are so basic i made the panel and installed the rotaries then printed the panel cover 5 or 6 times until it matched the rotaries! But ive heard thats how the bouncing bomb was made....

Very nice, neat wiring, nice build and great design, I like it!

Wow - I want this now - it can makes the wifes miserable face look happy for a change.

there are a huge mix of skills and desires on this forum, from simple boxes of switches to augment some keyboard presses to ful on mil spec simpits and every scale in between. I think, and correct me if I am wrong, but a previous thread was hijacked by someone essentially say you are wasting your time building sim pits because of VR. What this thread shows is even the military cannot replace training Emersion with VR, you still need to simulate the actual pit and the VR need to stop where you are looking at physical hardware be it tank or aircraft. However, whatever your level of emersion VR is OK for some and pit building for others, so in my opinion, unless English wasn't his/her language, I took the comment why are you building panels as VR is here as a bit inflammatory similar to bagging someone who wants to make an accurate pit for their level similar to bagging someone who makes an ACHP out of a shoe box. And this thread shows VR is not a place in cockpit builder thread anyway until we get our hands on these military beauties! IMO

Yeah, notice how the panels still have to look like real backlit panels in the right placement, so VR might be your thing, but hotas will be the only tactile HMI possible. You would even know what OSB to press or UFC or CDI. I didn't reall understand what he meant by see through vr headset, but assume it means once the tracker knows your eyes are looking at your cockpit it gradually becomes see through, long way off if ever for flight sim nice. Not needed for race cars as F1 is all hands on wheel ang gears or shooters. That video looked like what DCS wants to be!

How did you make it laser printer? Looks great from where Im sitting. Sorry no help on the LEDs, ive not got my head around that although I took one of my Cougar MFDs apart and they have the best tiny LED things.
-
I cant imagine its even possible to use a VR helmet in a physical pit, you still like to look at what it is your pushing outside of hotas, the minute you take your hand of the stick its got no reference point, so mid flight you might reach out to turn the hud colour and switch off the master arm! If you look at some the newer pits, like Eurofighters alot of switches have different shaped heads, I would hazard a guess is so you know not to press them if your not looking. Anyway - back on topic.....

Dont de so down on yourself it looks great! (Mack is Hack I think) How did you make the buttons, I ask this of every builder cos I struggle every time. You could just use black card to sit behind the buttons, its not got any structure and cutting all those holes in black acrylic will be bad, pull the switch heads off, cut the card to shape and punch holes where the tactiles are then pop it over and put the push buttons back on. You could even make a cardboard enclosure. This was mine with the card behind the keys - its not great, but its all I needed.
