Hi, I have had DCS since LOMAC and whilst I fly the F-15 through FC3 I assume to port it to DCS2 ED would need to do some work to make it EFM and therefore I would expect to buy this aircraft if I wanted it and it was made compatible in DCS2. Obviously there would be some who think having it in FC think they have bought the rights to fly this forever bug free but there comes a time when legacy is just that and support of it ceases? I would expect this at DCS 2 Has there been any announcement on this and does anyone know this, currently the stand alone F-15 and SU27 packages, were they free to FC buyers and will they be compatible with DCS2, I'm flying the 15 through my FC buy but it doesn't seem to have a clickable cockpit however i understand it is EFM? I am hoping DCS 2 will stay clear of anything FC related as i would imagine it just detracts programmers from DCS 2 and we have a clean sheet line up, what is 3rd party, what is DCS/ED. I would happily buy a DCS 2 - F15 package, I have had more than my value from FC over the years and I can continue to play it standalone if needed. Sorry if this is already covered.

Thanks MnW! I fancy getting into car sim, I used to play Colin McRae the first (RIP) on PS1, steering wheel is on the list!

Lol we have one of those in the office - just googled the cardboard, so there are lenses, makes sense, thanks to all those who responded.
-
LOL, I thought you were about to say an itchy arse! I wear lenses 24/7. In response to the cardboard, that would suggest that looking at a iphone would be the same as VR unless what reggie said about the focus? Is there say a iphone equivalent test download app to focus beyond the screen?
-
Excuse the title, Im probably going to go VR eventually - aside from DCS i mostly play Americas Army and lots of 'city building' or tactical simulation which I am not sure if VR is supported yet (first person shooters) and I dont need it for games like Banished, Supreme Ruler, Stranded Deep etc. so its not something I am rushing for, may wait a gen or two? Anyway, thats just me and probably irrelevant, when I heard about Samsung VR I thought i would hold my Iphone close to my eyes to see if it was like VR and it made me feel sick, I couldnt focus because my eyes strained. Are the Rift / Vive like this or is it because the iphone I was just looking at a video close us but VR makes you focus into the distance??

New Thrustmaster Gear - Live Tweeting

Agree, but would rather buy an X-52! -
Agree with Weeb, what room have you got, you can even get Helios and 2 X mfd's on a $10 15inch monitor, I started with that until I got the bug. You just need enough room below your monitor but I stood mine on bricks for a bit and also lowered the bottom monitor, you can't have your top monitor higher then your head, it messes up the vision. If duplication of a cockpit layout isn't important just put it next to your main monitor, no need to be below. Also, no point in getting tablets if you are getting MFDs as the tablet is touch screen so he export program has the mfd modelled already. I would save your money and go 2 monitor and head track. Here is my first, 15" monitor (May hav been 17) 2 X mfd and a very early Helios, plus UFC made from A mini keyboard. Those minors a giveaway on eBay, no one wants them, prolly even get them for a quid at a scrap yard: There are also so many profiles for Helios, look up capn zeen, if TEWS is F-15 a second monitor is the way to go, all sorts of donation ware out there like unltra MFDc and one which exports the F-15 system

Cheers guys, I am baffled why a GPWIZ cant do that but hey ho. I actually replaced my very ageing X52 with the Hog so im going to rewire the board inside for an number of things, the throttle will be a collective and if we move house this year like planned, an F-18 / Typhoon / F-35 hybrid bitch is my plan! Got to be touchscreen as there are too many nre aircraft coming out.

I just got a Wathog so thought I would have a go at making some pedals: It based on a piece of chipboard I had lying around and some structural (or non structural) pine. This is the underside, 2 lengths of pine either side of the chipboard with a hole drilled through the size of a skate bearing: Thats just some old core from a MDF thing I though i would use as a washer, should do much more than stop the bearing falling through the Chipboard. This is the spindle, you can see the core and bolts above and 4 bearings: They sit through this square block of pine which I also cored our so the heel bar can move through it: Its hard to see but the heel bar just moves through and the toe bars is screwed to it. This is then the pivots on the heel and toe, just a couple of skate bearings. Created a pot with an arm to move it: All sub-assemblies painted and read: And a couple of the finished article: Now can anyone work out why I cant finish it?

Can you use it on the hogbbase? Like now in current state?

Help with 2 way switches on my new Warthog
Mr_Burns replied to Reflected's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I got mine yesterday, the slew really is shit. I don't use the mic so remapped it to there. Is that really a warthog replica for slew? I worked with some User interface folk who would have slapped my supplier for suggesting that! No idea what the pinky does, mapped that trigger thing in front of the laser to a modifier and considering uses for the left throttle button and the slew thing?! -
Yeah meant the merge, so will 2.5 go beta, stable, then 1.5 becomes obsolete? I'm What is TM? Estimate? Thanks pal

Supposed to be getting aWarthog for my 40th on Tuesday, first mod is to use the pvc pipe to create a center Stick holder between my legs. Any advice after your build!! Is there a PVC pip it sits straight in or best getting a cap and screwing it to that? Is an extension better than mounting the stick higher or is that really for choppers?

It's the future, but the wife a pair of socks for the reason of using the box! It's very neat anyway, nice work. I need to try Arduino but I still have 2 GPWIZ which have more than enough connections.

Has anyone made a collective out of their warthog throttle?
Mr_Burns replied to Kornskydiver's topic in Home Cockpits
I took apart the throttle of the XaA52 to replace the mouse button with an Xbox Thumb controller, was pretty easy. I don't there is much at all hat end. If you didn't want to screw it you can just get some pretty bloody strong no more nails and glue it it, trust me, the out doors stuff could glue you to aca747 and aside from hyperthermia and death by lack of oxygen, your corpse would still be stuck at the end of a transatlantic flight! It is that permanent, depending on your stick of choice you may want to just glue a threaded steel pipe or some other connecting divice so you can swap sticks. Added bonus, if you do take the X52 apart you can de solder all the wires from the switches and put the to a block connector outside of the 52. These could then be used to add switches and hats to the box on the top of the cyclic. After all Ve finished my rudder I'm going to do this, just convinced myself writing this! -
Hey sorry if this is answered elsewhere but what are the timeframes to release 2.0, so one GUI and multiple maps seamless chosen by either mission or campaign selected? I'm am bout to get a second large SDD, it's seems thechnology is moving faster than DCS (tongue in cheek) which in this case is a good thing, I'm going to have a standalone DCS SSD.

2nd keyboard with custom key mappings?
Mr_Burns replied to steve2112's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just used that weird key next to no.1 that doesnt seem to do anything except open up a console in the middle of a FPS battle, seems ideal as a modifier and no other software needed. Just means I have to take my hand off the stick to push the buttons. -
F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible

I would call it passive aggressive, you can call it what you want, but it is disrespectful, especially if he has been ill. -
F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible

Would you like to point out where it was a personal attack? I am sick of people complaining about other people trying to make this hobby a better place. Ideas and dreams and good intentions sometimes fall by the wayside, a simple, "any update" and no response doesnt give you or anyone the right to call it vapourware or i told you it would come to nothing, this is baiting and trolling behavior. I hope you all bagged Thrustmaster for their last non announcement. :chair: -
Has anyone made a collective out of their warthog throttle?
Mr_Burns replied to Kornskydiver's topic in Home Cockpits
Its not really helpful but in my humble opinion you may be better trying to source say an X-52 Throttle, you can then drill to your hearts content. Im getting a Warthog for my 40th next Tuesday and the X-52 is going to be my collective project. There is one on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Saitek-Pro-X52-Flight-System-Throttle-Control-System-/351747472324?hash=item51e5c87bc4:g:ofUAAOSwiJFXPlN3&_trksid=p2349526.m3874.l7936 -
2nd keyboard with custom key mappings?
Mr_Burns replied to steve2112's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry to bump but I am unable to use this, I dont know why, I just can seem to follow the instructions. So I have 2 keyboards plugged in but the second doesnt have all the keys I removed (and lost) all of the keys that were not being used on my UFC so I cant actually type sentences from it. Would anyone be kind enough to go step by step please or do I need to get the 2nd keyboard able to type words? I initially set it up so I can use the pinky and the 2nd keyboard which was fine, but now I use that with my primary for the CDU. I could set another button as a modifier but wouldnt mind trying this program. Thanks -

Way to go taking sh1t about a bloke who has suffered ill health, Im glad you havnt caught leprosy and your arms fell off because I would miss your compassionate posts. -
Hey mate there is a Mirage gate guardian in Adelaide, Aussies seem pretty laid back about stuff that isn't American (fkin ITAR). I dont really know what models they operated but I do know a few people who may be able to get me access or (Australia is a big place ;-) ) get someone I know where there is a variant you are after into the cockpit. I dont know if I can but happy to try if you can find any info on where ex aussie mirages are.
