  1. Yes, yes, yes! DX11 means we're much closer to multithreading!
  2. Was that just a stupid question, or does no one know?
  3. You could lock HARM's onto any radar source, including MiG's, so they weren't unguided. But HARM's aren't very maneuverable, so they had to be flying right at you. I wish A-10's really had HARMS/shrikes, or a radar seeking maverick/sidewinder or something. Would make life so much easier.
  4. Whoa, whoa, whoa. No one better be insulting A-10 Cuba. That game has the best flight/ground physics ever. I spent so much of my childhood in Cuba's skys, shooting HARMS at headon MiG-29's, and Mavericks at Su-25's.
  5. Will DCS:A-10 support forward air bases on straight stretches of highways? I know this isn't really in the A-10's current role, but I think it's a big part of it's past. Might be helpful for those looking to recreate a little Cold War action.
  6. Aannndddd, this is old news. I didn't see the announcement in the news section. Sorry.
  7. So I read this, then fire up steam, and what do I see? http://store.steampowered.com/app/61000/
  8. Old post, I know, but it can be toned down to be fairly easily accessible. Automatic torpedo solutions, etc. You should be able to get the basics down in a couple hours. Pick it up
  9. EtherealN, I was actually thinking more of CPU multithreading, not GPU. GGTharos, I wasn't saying that it would as easy as "numbproc=4", or copy/paste DCS.exe into Cryengine or whatever else. I understand that a small game/sim studio doesn't have the resources to take advantage of every new technology, and that they probably have a very small $ return for each hour used because of the very small market. But 75% of computers now have 2 or more cores, and it would be nice to know that ED is harnessing that potential, especially with Radar/ECM-carrying fighters possible on the distant horizon.
  10. I would think that a combat flight sim would be a good candidate for multithreading, especially one that simulates as much as DCS does. Between AI behavior, missile and radar logic, rocket/bomb/shell ballistics, all the systems in the aircraft(s) and airframe stress and damage, the flight model, world and collision. Keep in mind though that I am by no means a programmer :music_whistling:
  11. :music_whistling:
  12. You should be able to overclock your CPU to at least 3.6 pretty easily. Should give another boost.
  13. nVidia's 3d works by duplicating every 2nd frame, but from a different POV. If your monitor can only do 60hz and v-sinc is on, that would leave you with 30fps. Could this be it?
  14. I don't mean to hi-jack, but I have another question related to the X52. When I move the joystick to the right, it gives full right input with only 1/2 to 2/3's actual stick movement. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
  15. Shh, we don't want your logic here! ;) Harrier/Tornado would be cool. Maybe F-5/20, or MiG-29. I still doubt it will be the 16/18.
  16. I'll bet it'll be a Russian fighter. Su-27, MiG-29, maybe even a BiS or something older. ED might want to get a more advanced radar model and A2A AI worked out before they move on to more technical aircraft like an F-16/15E/18.
  17. No, thats probably due to your monitor. What size is it?
  18. How much did it decrease by? Are you hitting V-Sync or something? Drivers cleaned out correctly? OT: I just realized that I'm the 5 post n00b vs the Mod/ED team... :S
  19. Sounds like your CPU limited if there was no increase from 7950 to 4870, what CPU do you have?
  20. Well, I'll hopefully learn the basics of the shark before I go online, don't want to be a complete n00b. But I'll need to get a TiR too...And a better CPU would be nice...the upgrades never end :P
  21. Well, that seems good enough. Maybe I'll try to join up with a squad if/when I learn to fly the shark. I'm Canadian, but in Europe for the next couple weeks, hopefully I'll be able to find a DVD copy in a store somewhere.
  22. Hey everyone. I dabbled in Lomac, but was kinda hamstrung by a bad computer and stability issues, and missed FC completely, but since I've upgraded, I'm looking at BS. I was just wondering what kind of multiplayer community there is? How much do latency/location matter? Thanks:thumbup:
