Probably comes down to cost vs effectiveness.. There are many advantages with the co-axial design over the conventional but the conventional design would be a whole lot cheaper to service/maintain.. There is ALWAYS an accountant involved and they look at spreadsheets... e.g- Is it worth spending another 2 million per AH-64 to save maybe 20% of downed apache pilots??? *edit- I know this may sound like a blunt opinion but there is an element of truth to it.. Plus..-.. as mentioned in this thread quite high survivability rates in such aircraft as AH64, ejection seats are not feasible, as nor some sort of rotor governing system on a KA50... :P

You are correct :D As far as i know the Ka50 and KA52 are the only two combat heli's with ejection seats. :P

This is incorrect, yes the dial is automatically set to the correct position for the default load out, but if you change weapons load to a different rocket type you will need to adjust BD dial accordingly.;)

I've played around a lot with the KA50 rotor sounds and i'm still not 100% happy.. Check out the sound of the rotors slappin away about 30 seconds into below clip... :D Sounds awesome.. At the end of the day, i think if Kamov intended to produce the KA50 with some sort of effective flight governor their budget would have been dramatically increased if not blown out. And for what really, a good pilot knows the limitations of his/her aircraft. How many KA50's have crashed due to rotors colliding while flying within safe flight parameters specified by Kamov? It's great we have computers that can do 50 million calculations a second but sometimes it's best just to use the good old brain, where you can have a solution with 4 calculations. ;)

If computers are so good these days why bother having pilots? ;)

Some info I found here, looks like it was the KA-50N prototype that had A2A capability where as the production KA-50 could only use cannon and vikhrs to engage air targets. Maybe this is where some of the confusion lies. Might be wrong. :)

There is a file in the bazar\temptextures called interleave.bmp Change this file to desired colour and your done ... worked for me :thumbup:

Like all machines you need to treat them with due respect and keep them within certain limits. Any aircraft can be pushed past a "safe flight envelope". I would guess an event like this is the equivalent of a conventional helicopter boom strike.:)
