  1. OK got the 15.. and its Kicking my Ass. First thing that bothering me, is the thresholds. but thats fixable with spline tuning. But this constant nosing up is literally wearing out my arm. the trim system is totally inadequate. 3rd.. whats this nose over blackout? no red out, no slow blackout.. this instantaneous black screen? i mean wtf? 5 degrees and a black out? 4th.. im killing the engine somehow. what conditions kill the turbine? spooling too fast? im a little concerned that the tutorials and instant games.. had no air to air combat.. almost as if to suggest its a poor idea. Ideas?
  2. Thats good infor right there, from the trenches. Much Appreciated. What was this issue you mentioned about the Farmer?
  3. Taking advantage of the Sale and Trials. Im interested in getting one of the post ww2/korea airframes. I think ive narrowed down my choice to the MiG15/MiG19, as ive been told they require a little more respect and piloting, and there will always be Sabre opponents as it seems the F86 is the favorite. What is your Favorite Module in the 24.99 to 29.99 price range and why? Do you prefer the MiG15 over the MiG19, or vicky-vokey? Any input is appreciated. If you feel the need to Dote please do. For reference i own the Warthog (fav) the Harrier, the Mirage and Black Shark thanks!
  4. DEAR DCS! Would it be Possible to add the Helicopters to last couple days of Free Trial? Please? please? please? please? please? please?
  5. In reply to the F111 talk: the Aussies F111 were a good example of Air to Air capability. When they adopted the F111 they had 4 options available. US Sidewinder (3 variants), the ASRAAM, the Israeli Python, and the 530. The Australians went with the Sidewinder, and chose the Aim9M/L over the G, H,&J variant (perfect for DCS!) The first F111 loadouts in the 70's also carried the HARM, HARPOON and POPEYE. What munitions the Aussies were using when she was retired im not sure. But i sure would like to know. The Australian Sidewinders were cleared for the airframe in AUG/OCT1987. With live fire tests at Woomera. According to Historian Mark Lax. the F111C Pig.. had the expressed role of Interceptor. Readopting the B variants charge. The last of the F111 F's and the Aussie C's, carried systems and munitions common in DCS. Including MFDs, updated avionics, GPS, and modern alternative to PAVETACK. (although it would be interesting to play with a low-fi laser targeting system) I do know the F111c was as modular as it ever was. and the RAAF had the modules at their expense. From gun to bomb load. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The F111 Pig was a side by side cockpit. The beauty about this, the game wouldnt have to rebuild a new cockpit to switch. The Pilot & 2nd seat are looking at the same panel. It could be as simple as Snap-View. The right seat was equipped to fly the plane. You dont lose perspective Id like to mention at this point the Last of the American F's and the Aussie C's had MFDs! Im trying to find out if they were MFCD's. Anything with a TAD/ESHD type system :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This! I have to remind myself im talking about a Tactical Bomber. The frame was so versatile, people compare it with Fighters (and in some cases it surpasses them). But it needs to be compare to the FrogFoot and the Warthog. What i love about the F111 (and the Tornado) is that they are DCS friendly. It has a gun for fun, can carpetbomb, has missiles, but its versatile enough to play with. After all its a game. I cant wait to land on a carrier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YES!!! see that exciting. :D thats the first time ive even heard of that! Does it light up the ground? the need to model it like a flare. Thanks guys for keeping the interest in the F111 alive. ive been banging this drum for a year now. Nice to see like minded folk :)
  6. Dedicated Strike Aircraft, needs to be the F111 Aarvark. I got turned onto the "Pig" when i read it outshot the Warthog in desert storm. Twice the kills. And the EF111a Raven was THE goto SIGINT, reconnaissance, Electronic Warfare frame. (considering the ELINT topic) The bottom line about the F111 Pig, when it was retired it took 2 aircraft to fill it workload. That being the B1 Lancer (which wasnt as fast, by half, and not versatile) and the F15 which was not as good as a strike craft, and not as fast either) when the EF111a Raven was retired, the Airforce had to back peddle to the Intruder, because there was nothing in the Services that could replace the Spark-Vark. plus, i want to land it on a Carrier, Melt it in mid air, light up the nighttime battlefield with the dump and burn, eject in the Boat/Pod, and fly the first DCS carpet bomber.
  7. OH YES! I love images like that. Do you know when the image was taken? The Majors patch says 2874th Test Squadron, out of California. They closed McLlelan Airbase in 2001 i think. First think i noticed was the RWR with the blue backdrop. Also looks like ground radar (like in the A4 skyhawk mod) And the pilots attention is on the Camera ( LIghteningII pod alternative) while he is using the MFD. interesting stuff. That means. Which ever model they go with. The Pig or the Aardvark F, would be able to have full sensor implements.. without giving the plan an unfair advantage, or making it unrealistic. THAT is the lynchpin. It Fits the DCS profile.. it has everything that would make it a really fun module to fly.. and a BUNCH of things not seen on any other DCS planes. Itd be the best selling bomber they could make. (aside from the Su34 fullback.. another of my favorites, but we probably would see a f35 before a su34.) See what i mean? The more i learn about the F111, the more i wanna fly it. I need to find out if the expandable pylons were c model only. And if they were pivoting, like the 2 interior pylons (always facing forward) im guessing that was automatically controlled. anyway here is an Aussie with her extra pylons
  8. Im sorry but im going to have to stick with my same recents ideas. That being.. bombers so good, you think they are fighters. either that one, or this one. and if you gon' force me to take a fighter?
  9. Why not a 2 player, Supersonic Warthog? That is.. a bomber with twice the payload of the A10, faster than anything else in DCS, that can make 3g turns at mach, has an optional 2100/rd internal cannon, can both precision "plink" or carpetbomb. Carries anti-air missiles, flies so fast they had to put a "You are Melting the Airplane" alarm in the cockpit. Rocket powered ejection pod that has its own chaff system, and turn into a boat. When youre not busy "Dump and Burning" you fuel behind the airplane in a 150 foot wall of flame.. Youre landing on a Carrier because its got a tail hook. This is what makes the F111 the next best module. Its everything that people want in a module. and a few things none of the other planes can do.
  10. Sorry Guys, i neglected this for a bit. I wanted to add some images of the F111 and pass on some more info ive collected. I wanted to clear up the Carrier Ability. As we know the F111-TFX was built with Robert Macnamaras "80% commonality". This means the planes were built the same (with small difference for different application) The Airforce A model (also includes the EF111 Raven) and Navy B model were built at the same time. The Carrier B Variant.. used the A Variant Nosewheel gear (except for the last plane in the B series, after a crash they tried a different Front Wheel) It appears that the B variant had 2 types of rear wheels. Standard and "Raked". It appears the first half of the B's had A variant rear wheels, and the second half of the B's had the beefed up "raked" gear. I cant confirm, but it appears the C model also had Raked gear. here are the different B models and an example C model The Navys issues was weight and size. They needed under 70,000lbs. Thats so the Freaking elevators could haul it. The Crafts dry weight is 45,000, its payload is 30k. this would have to be something modeled. an Arresting gear top weight. MORE IMMERSION! cables snap beyond a certain weight. ATM.. it would appear: The Australian C variant, The EF111 Raven, the F and G models have the same Arresting/Landing Gear that the B variant had. IN SHORT.. We would HAVE to model Carrier Landing for the Pig. No matter how difficult or sketchy it would be. Found you guys a nice time lapse of the Dump and Burn. I can think of Practical Battle field applications.. for something like this Here is a cockpit view of the F model. This is probably the Pave-Tack layout heres the EWF model.. the A variant RAVEN. not gonna lie, the ECW Suite excites me. I Just Realized the Aussie C.. has MFD's are the MFCDs? In Regard to your Questions and Statements: Buckshot, i can totally imagine this. DCS doesnt have bombers.. thats why this Plane is PERFECT. Its more like a fighter than a bomber. Its a perfect bridge into Bombers. Its got everything we love about DCS Jonne.. depends on how you look at it. This is a Bomber. No bomber fits the DCS gameplay. This one does. a 3g turn at mach! its fast, its agile, its got a gun. Its tactical, and its also SEAD, escort, pinpoint strike.. everything we love about DCS.. with all those added goodies. and the first chance to carpetbomb in the game! deadpool.. i must admit, looking at thr EF111a Ravens cockpit makes me a bit curious. Notso.. maybe the best question of all. WHICH Aardvark to use? The F model is the one that out performed the Warthog in Desert Storm. The Gold Standard, most variable, the historic high water mark but bear with me here. The Australian C model.. appears to have MFD/MFCDs (just like all the jets in DCS) im trying to find out if it has a TADS color map right now. The Aussies had an updated Laser System, and the C model is still modular. They do have Gun Modules for the C, Recon Modules, ECM modules. So i think we should go with the Aussie C. Its not an unfair advantage. It has systems people already know (more buyers, more customer draw) and it can still carry all the different modules and wide variety of pylons and munitions
  11. This is from my WHY YOU NEED THE F111 IN DCS post. The F111 Aardvark. "The PIG". Strategic or Strike Bomber? Interdictor or Interceptor? Fighter or Recon? ..or all of those? The more i read about this aircraft.. the more Awestruck I become. There are several factors that make a DCS plane a Hit. Looks, Ability, Multirole Capability and Factors Unique to the Airframe. Here is a list.. of reasons the F111 Aardvark was the Titan of the Air. And why DCS should Love It. It WAS a Pinpoint Bomber, Nuclear Bomber, Fighter, Bomber Escort,ECM Platform, Recon & Interdiction craft When the Aarvark was was replaced its void was filled by 2 aircraft. the F15 and the B1. Still the F111 was faster than the F15, and did everything a B1 couldnt. Its hitting power was immense. Due to this it flew with B52s as a bomber AND as an escort! But it wasnt limited to heavy duty. It has an Internal Canon Completely Modular, the bomb bay could carry all sorts of goodies. The B Variant carried Phoenix missiles. Its wings are Sweeping, but they Carry Pylons that swivel, so the munition always points forward. Im trying to confirm the use of Helmet Displays and over the shoulder A2A deployment. It had a modular INTERNAL CANNON. 2,100 rounds worth of 20mm ammunition. The F14 carries 676 rounds. 2,100 rounds rivals the Warthog in capacity.. It has TWICE the Bomb-Load of an A10-Warthog It could carry *48 bombs.. 8-10 CBU's, or it could carry 20 Rockeyes. 100,000/lbs. Max Weight Yes. You read that right. It had a 30,000/lb Payload Capacity. The F111 had an internal bomb-bay and a dedicated laser. Its LOS was not impeded by airframe like the TGP lightning pod or the Elint.Fantasma. The target stays painted until impact no matter what orientation the plane is in. Although it has moving swept wings like an F14, its had 4 FIXED wing spars. Which brings up the next point. Its a Super Sonic Warthog *PICTURE BELOW Its FAST. Mach 2.5 with Moving Swept Wings, and range Its faster than the F15 and the F16. Its faster than the F4 Phantom. With a range twice that of the Phantom. 4,200 miles. The frame was so well built the only limiting factors were how good the engines were and.. the melting temp of metal This would make the F111 the fastest plane in the game These are reasons the "Pig" is Unique It flew so fast.. IT WOULD MELT The Aardvark was so fast, they put a special Alarm in the Cockpit. That would Countdown in Flight. Count down to when the plane would Melt. When the alarm when off, you cut the engines. I dont know about you.. but i would buy a Module just because it COULD melt itself mid air. Model THAT. It could blow FLAMES out of its tail 50 meters long. As bright as a FLARE The move was called the Dump and Burn. Pilots could dump fuel and light it with Afterburners. The fireball was twice the length of the Plane and So bright. it would light up the night. Thats actual footage. This is another thing People Would Buy the Module For. Id love to see it modelled like the SUU-25 Flares. I would. Wouldnt you fly a module that was so bright it lit up the DCS battle field like a parachute flare? *PICTURE BELOW THE ENTIRE COCKPIT EJECTED In an emergency the crew compartment shoots out of the plane under rocket power! A Capsule instead of an ejection seat. The Frame was so rigid.. the cockpit is CUT off the frame by shaped charges! 3 seconds later the Ejection Pod POPS CHAFF! So missiles dont tract the Capsule. Amazing. I buy the plane just so i could eject.. just so i could see it happen. Here is video of the Ejection Capsule *PICTURE BELOW The Aardvark had a RIO Just like Heatblurs Tommie.. this aircraft had a Weapons ECM Radar officer. This opens up possibility for Multiplayer play and the AI RIO weve all be talking about so much. It HAD A HOOK. Thats right, it Can Land on an Aircraft Carrier the F111 was built on a principle set forth by R.Macnamara. "80% Commonality" The tailhook is part of the basic design of the Aardvark. Even though the Navy B variant (6-8 planes) never saw service. Arresting gear was standard, as you cant jettison super heavy megaton weapons. Here is a C model, using it arresting hook during an accident the plane had a max taxoff weight of 100,000lbs! The Navy needed it under 70,000lbs, the aircrafts dry weight is 45,000lbs. Bottom line is.. the Pig comes with a Hook.. where theres a hook, theres a way. It could Maintain a 3G turn at Super Sonic Speeds This information came from a Pig pilot. I didnt read it anywhere, so its anecdotal, but i believe the Pilot. He also said that Crews got the Aardvark/Pig well above mach 2.5, and closer to mach 3! It could drop munitions at mach This is another anecdotal point i heard, but fairly straight forward. the Pigs unique Ground Following Avionics and utterly, unfettered, scathing speed.. allowed dropping munition at very high speed It was only recently Retired in regard to Production. There are Pigs still flying, there are many Pigs on display. There are plenty of Living Pilots who still have a few teeth and some sense. The company who built them is still around. Its doubtful that a license would be denied, given that its not in use. Yet there are still plenty of People who worked and flew around the Aardvark. but the best reason of all is ITS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME LOOKING The Plane had a bad reputation in regard to 3 things. Money. It was Expensive to operate. Weight. Despite its arresting gear, it was very heavy for Carrier Operations Maintenance. For every flight hour, there were many Maintenance hours. Thank Heavens.. DCS doesnt model any of those variable How can you not Fall in Love with the PIG after hearing all that? A 2 Player, Super Sonic Warthog, with twice the bomb-load, with Sweeping Wings, Faster than anything in DCS.. with an 'Im Melting' alarm and 50 meter flames belching from the rear.. it shoots, it nukes, it strikes, it carpetbombs, has a Rocket Propelled Escape Pod and can Land On a Carrier. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS. PLEASE COMMENT BELOW, AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK Bart Aardvark.. doing the Dump and Burn. People say they can feel the heat on the ground. GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR PIG! (notice flotation bags, its had landing airbags too) 48 Bombs on the Py-Lons One Last Pic.. for the Beauty (Air to Air Refueling plumbing visible)
  12. Im not quite sure what variant we used in the Desert Storm conflict. That variant proved the superiority of the F111 platform.. But for all i know it couldve been coalition C models. For DCS.. the proper model is going to be the one with the widest capability. In that case they would have to talk with the men who worked on the Flight Line. IS a F111c still Phoenix Capable? Were the F models adaptable to similar A2A munitions? For instance i know they fit Sidewinders on the F111, but you DONT wanna get that close to fighters in the PIG, thats the whole reason to have the fastest plane in the game.. to NOT get that close. But ASRAAM and AMRAAM are AIM pylon compatible. So.. thats the stuff that you need to talk to the guys in the rear with the gear. Medium range A2A would add a huge capability to the simulation, and the gun of course.. it may have been for plinking, but lord knows ive shot down a few helos in the Warthog. I didnt know that about the Viggen.. i thought it was feature complete. Ground hugging would be a neat thing, but damn.. i wouldnt want to be the one to code that. i cant find much about F111 HUDs either. a HUD is probably a key game element. Though im enjoying the MIrage and its spartan accomodations.
  13. Thanks Guys i really appreciate it. I hope you are right Rudel, because the BETA Harrier is crashing to desktop every 5 minutes now :(
  14. Excellent fellas. Good Pros and Cons talk. Lets keep it up. Now.. to counter some of your points. I gotta do a little interdiction lol 1. the Pig B-variant Did complete development. The F111 is Phoenix and Sidewinder capable. (ill include a pic of one i found wearing a AIM9). The problem was, the Navy couldnt use aircraft that heavy. it has a 100,000lbs max take off weight. With a 4000 mile range, at 2.5+ mach theres no reason TO put it on a carrier. But give us a Hook.. and DCS will use it lol. 2. Speed is absolutely useful. Its the same tactic the F4 Phantom adopted. Shoot and Scoot. And nothing could catch the Phantom. Except the F111 Aardvark. if i can hug the ground (why its called the pig) at mach 2+. drop ordinance at super high speeds.. pull 3Gs at twice the speed of an F18. You have on MY terms. With this kind of speed, you dictate the battlefield. You decide how, where, and when your enemy has to fight. All the variants were fast. 3. and most importantly. in regard to the claim that its a poor Target of Opportunity platform? During Desert Storm, the F111 had a 3.2:1 Successful mission rate. Higher than ANY other aircraft. 66 F111's destroyed 1,500 tanks. That was 30% of the entire Iraqi Armored Force. The Warthog in comparison? destroyed 900. Think about that. I love the Warthog, and i havent had the pleasure to fly the Viggen yet. but Neither of those planes measure up to what i just wrote. The F111's Combat Record. i mean ↑ thats just ridiculous-good No body realizes just how Awesome this plane really was. Heres the side slung Sidewinders. the 2 Phoenix missiles were carried in the bay. I should mention the Wings would Swing back, but the Wing Pylons rotated to always point forward. Pretty neat AIMs could be loaded on the 5000/lb pylons, but the previous loadout is prefferable to this nonsense EDIT: Sorry Klar, i totally misread you in regard to the Sidewinder and Desert Storm models. I think even the K model was in service by the late 70's. The Basic Airframes capability should be the same. as the 1991 . then again on another point. We now have the J17. Which is a mid 2000's aircraft, Undoubtedly its simulated specs must include the advantages of current tech. I hear people say its an old engine in the J17.. but engines develop too. 40 years of engine development, metallurgy, composites, tweaks.. even if its the same model. I dont know how i feel about that.
  15. I switched to BETA last night, and reinstalled my modules. So far, ive only gotten about 5 minutes into any flight. Then it Crashes to desktop. I had to reload DCS 4 or 5 times, just to drop my first JDAM. Doesnt seem to be triggered by the same thing. Once, right when i was hit with a missle. Once when i switched to guns. Once when i hit the ground. etc etc I have not tried flying the Hog, Frogfoot, or Mustang with BETA yet. Anyone else getting a crash in BETA?
  16. I lost everything in the Harvey Floods, i managed to contact ED directly and explained. If youve had it previously installed just ask them for it. Call the company you bought it from. Certainly you still have the card you purchased it with.
  17. Video of an F111 landing on its belly with no Undercarriage.. in Australia. Tail Hook seen. Any Aces from Oz representin'?

  19. There is a JDAM release for the Harrier, and new textures for the Warthog. I want these, but i was told they are in the Open Beta version of DCS. Can i switch DCS_World_web release version to the Open Beta in game? Or do i need to download the Beta Version specifically? Will my pilots carry over? Will i have to download My Warthog and Harrier again? Is there a way i can get the Warthog and Harrier updates without the Beta? Thanks for suffering such a newb question. I appreciate it guys
  20. What does it take. To Fly with a Squadron? Without the benefit of a Boot-Camp or Flight School, as Beginners, What are the skills and attitude we need to Contribute to a Flight Group? Id like to start this thread as a Guide for Nuggets (newbies). A Miniature Bootcamp if you will. A primer, so that we understand what is needed from us, what being in a squadron entails. Etiquette, Attitude, Prerequisite Flight Knowledge, Basic Handling Skills, Equipment Required, ANYTHING we need to know. To make this the best experience possible. Please Explain what YOU need from applicants, and what is expected of us.
  21. How are you two coming along?
  22. Man.. ive only bought the Warthog and Harrier. But i regularly fly the Mustang and the Frogfoot. Nothing compares to the Warthog for me. I love hunting copters in the Harrier. I regularly take the mustang on high flights in the morning. And i do love the frogfoot. But the Warty. Its spoiled me. I compare all three other and everyone elses i see to the Thunderbolt. be sure to watch your tutorials.. and im going to apologize up front for the air to air refueling.
  23. Infact, are there any differences in the FC models and the individual models?
  24. What are the differences in the model that comes with World2.5 and the Model for purchase?
