  1. Isnt the F14 a triumph though? Thats all i hear people talk about The Tommie and the Viper
  2. JUST SAYIN.. ..cows have heat signatures..
  3. I definitely like strike capability. But i must admit the limited Air to Air ive had in the Harrier.. is frickin awesome. Ive been finding myself loading the Harrier with the same munitions no matter the mission. 4 Sidewinders and 2 MAVs if theres a cross wind, and 6 Rockies if none. You guys mention to the Shark, there are some Black Shark screenshots in the DCS main page. And it looks.. amazing. I recommend checking them out. Well hell here ya go. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/screenshots/ i mean come on. that gets me excited. also theres new pictures of the Kiowa in there. I sure hope those smokers are clickable. maybe its time to jump on the Black Shark before the update. its still 49.99
  4. Guess im going to have to start writing down Airfields to study. I know the fields have materiel storage on the map. Fuel and munition. Thanks for your help, im going to dig around in the Mission Info next. much appreciated Zhu'y
  5. This is what bothers me though. Sometimes i can get the Ground Crew on the mic, on the runway, engine running, get fueled and rearmed. Just landed and stopped. No conditions.. Other times, same airfield.. no answer. I try everything i can think of.. Ground Safety, Countermeasures off. Cockpit open, Batt on Engine off, APU on, APU off. All four corners of the field, near the dump symbols, on each of the flight line parking spots.. etc etc. its truly driving me mad. I just wanna know what the procedure is, or the criteria. So i can at least plan for it. There just doesnt seem to be any pattern. :/
  6. Where i can appreciate what youre saying, its not as anecdotal or linear as that. For instance. I bought the Harrier. Love it. It was worth every cent, just for the Helicopter hunting alone. However, if someone had told me that JDAMS are worthless, that JTAC in single player is worthless. Wouldve bought another plane. I fly without labels. Short loiter time, no JTAC, no Labels.. i have to get shot at before i can find half the targets. i didnt read about that in the forums during my research, hell i asked a couple people directly and they failed to mention the JTAC/JDAM problem. Plus.. people loove to complain. And if its about DCS i love to listen.
  7. Im looking to get my third module. Ive been flying the warty since 2012. I bought the Harrier a month ago. Despite the gaps, and the occasional mid air non-ballistic freak out.. i must admit, i cant bring myself to fly any Warthog missions. Cause i cant stop. is the Mirage more of a complete module? i want to get a 3rd mod, one in the mid price range. and completion is important to me. I honestly thought about getting the Black Shark, but im afraid its too aged. what do you guys recommend?
  8. YES, PLEASE. with a little Skyhawk and some Exocet chasers?
  9. Im going to point out the F111 Aardvark again.. since you guys brought up the B1 Lancer. Not only did the Aarvark have a dedicated full 360 laser spotter. dedicated.. not a TGP pod. But it WAS the b58 Hustlers replacement. As in.. The F111 rode with the B52s as a viable B52 substitute. Because it was Nuclear Capable. Thats the Hitting, Precision, Speed, and Distance the F111 had. It was considered a Strategic Bomber. It took TWO planes to replace the F111.. the F15 Eagle (the f111 Aardvark is faster than the Eagle lol) faster than the F16 too. and the B1 Lancer. And the B1 couldnt maneuver or dog fight, or carry AA missiles, or CAS.. Thats right the F111.. is the F15/B1's Daddy.. and still outperforms both of those craft. The Airframe was so Rigid and well designed.. its only Speed Limit was the Melting Temperature of its Frame! It would melt before it flew apart. They had an Automatic Timer and Alarm in the cockpit. A Thermostat. When you got too hot.. it gave you a IM MELTING countdown and no one knows about f111. yet it carried 20... 20 MK20 CBUs. at mach 2.. that could fly from california.. to maine.. then texas, in one flight. NOW COME ON.. Would yall like to fly an Airplane.. that could Melt Itself? Model THAT, ED
  10. Sorry for putting such a Noob Question in the Main Forum.. if its out of bounds i will delete it. Now.. my ground crew answer sometimes, sometimes they dont. I mostly fly "Fast Mission" and sometimes i modify my muntions before take off. The Harrier needs constant fueling. Sometimes air superiority is achieved and you want to rearm and get back out there. So why on Earth does the ground crew answer sometimes.. and not others. I always return to the same field of departure. Sometimes they will rearm right on the runway. I try turning master arm off, going cold.. sometimes i drive the damn planes all over the field trying different parking areas. I just dont get it. And it driving me nuts. Its always when there a entire host of undefended targets too..:animals_bunny::animals_bunny:
  11. The Harrier.. By a Mile. Explain? Well, alright then. Granted ive only flown the Warthog.. with its Wide Trike Gear.. BEAUT to land. Love it. Im a hog pilot at heart. The P51d Mustang.. Just as easy, its inclination and long nose issues are offset by the fact its a reverse trike, with a tail wheel. It puts down like butter. Infact, i fly the Trainer with video turned al the way up sometimes just to fly. the FrogFoot.. easy. Its mushy, the gear area close in.. smaller wings.. still doesnt matter. THE HARRIER.. omg. First, the sonoffagun has gull wings, short and stubby at that. So shes gotte be above 190 just for stable flight. ITS FLAPS are computer run.. so you dont roast them off with nozzle changes. and when they come down they make the speed issue even worse. Its Gear completely ruin its aerodynamicis.. noticeably. Its Airbrake.. cany be deployed when the gear are out.. its part of the gear system.. great! its CoM and CoL are designed for hovering.. so if you brake hard or you use nosewheel, you can flip the plane way before you would flip the mustang ITS UNDERPOWERED FOR ANY TYPE OF LANDING.. SO.. They include a water tank so you can OVERPOWER the engine. meaning, you have about 30 seconds worth of water before you CANT hover land.. or safely land for that matter. So if you are going to VTOL.. not only do you have to be really good at it, you gotta do it in a short time frame. against the wind. thats another thing.. cross winds? nope.. hang it up for the day. especially if you got a heavy wing load. dont get me wrong i LOVE it.. there nothing better in this game than helicopter hunting in the Harrier.. but you gon' learn ta-day
  12. If DEKA is determined to build only from the model listed above? We should consider everything from Playability, Versatility and even Looks. ALL of these things will determine how many Aircraft DEKA/DCS sell. The more they sell, the better the future products will be. In my opinion. From the list above, the 2 options are the J-8II (and only this variant) the Q-5 (and only the latter variants that were armed to the teeth) Some practical things to consider. Unless someone collects aircraft, they will be hesitant to purchase a module that resembles a mod they already spent 70 dollars on (even after it was reduced in price) However we can get around that with the J8ii, not only is it TWIN ENGINE cousin of the J7, which the J7 is always going to be seen as a MiG21. But the Cockpit and Radar dome was completely redesigned (in looks.. and capability) So what we have is this absolute beast, that barely even resembles the J7. Has twice the engines and state of the art Radar. Possibly even the F4 Phantoms radar suite (which it was specifically designed to handle, though "officially" we were told there wasnt any collaboration.) This makes the J8ii.. ABSOLUTELY capable and UNIQUE (even to people who would want complain about "reverse engineering" yada yada) After that, the Q-5 is basically, one of those planes based on Early Gen airframes, That culminates every adaptation, every trick and tech advancement, and does this very well. The AK-47 of Eastern Aircraft. Every advantage learned was pressed into service in one of the dozens of variants. It is a Ground Attack plane.. so that should be considered. i really wish the h5 was capable. Because people would buy it just because the way it looks. IT DOES HAVE A REAR TURRET! love to see THAT modeled and user capable. BUT the h5 can only carry 4 500 pounders. NO ONE wants to pay 60 dollars for a twin engine bomber that can only drop a single JDAM. id also like to encourage any modders reading this.. to build the CRICRI. i would pay for a CriCri (especially if you could arm it with a single pylon and appropriate munitions) edit: ↑ see the guy who just wrote "i will have all the Fishbeds" This is what i mean. It Appeals to collectors. But even the Collectors see the 19 and 21 as MiG variants. When we need to reach both the Collectors and People who would want a Unique airframe, like myself. I want the MiG-21, as my next module. Im Familiar with the 21, because its famous. If given the option. I would buy the MiG21bis before i went with the j7, because i know about it. I know its limitations its edges. The J8ii would grab my attention as a totally new craft worth buying based on its own merits.
  13. THE F111 AARDVARK.. and examples why The Aardvark... THE ARDVARK. Lemme show you why. First, the little things people like about each of these modules, the Aardvark has them all in one package. The F111 Aardvark can carry 8 CBU87s, or 20 MK20s, Thats comparable to the Warthog. a 1oo,ooo pound takeout weight. 27,ooo pound wingload It has AN INTERNAL CANON. and will carry A2A missiles. it has the chance to implement an AI RIO (like HBs Tommie RIO eveyones talking about) 2 seater. It could be MULTIPLAYER Its FASTER than the Phantom. m2.5 at 6o,oook! SIXTY. m1.4 on the deck. Ill say that twice, so it will sink in. A Super Sonic Warthog.. yeeeah. The F111 has a 3,500nm range. thats twice the ferry range (w tank) of the Phantom Its got an INTERNAL bay. its got SWEPT WING. Its versatile ECM variants. AtA refueling.. ARRESTING GEAR (a warthog with arresting gear) And all the fun problems that come with a 2 engine craft. (2x the parts 2x the problems) All the things people brag and S.T.S. about.. 2 player multiplayer planes, SPEED, stupid huge bombload, FUEL complaining, dedicated dogfighting canon.. Packed in ONE ridiculously sexy plane. They built the B1 Lancer, and the F15 Strike Eagle to replace the F111. It was filling BOTH those roles single handedly. Precision/dedicating bombing, Nuclear deterrence, INTERDICTION, & Tank Plinking (ie loitering, SEAM) In other words.. DCS players can fly it in whatever role they want, or are good at AND.. when it dumps fuel, they kick the burners and it belches flame like a dragon. That is so bright.. ED would have to model the Dump and Burn maneuver like a SUU-25 flare. Id buy the Aardvark, just to see it turn Night into Day in DCS heres actual video of a night "dump and burn" Theres just no comparison. It fits the 3rd gen direction that DCS is headed in right now with the F4. And gaming wise? ITS GOT THE RIGHT STUFF Its Fun, Its Got Something for Everyone, It looks Badass, and it will SELL
  14. Oh i can totally dig that! Everyone is talking about the Phantom.. and im like WHY? We know thats the next one coming.. but lets look at it objectively. The Phantom it had to be fitted with gun pods, and its missile load is the same as every plane in DCS. It does have rabbit in its blood though. Mach 2.2 at 40k. 400 mile combat range.. 1500 miles, ferrying. And everybody loves her. Quirky, brute speed, twice the engines, twice the problems (thats a good thing in regard to immersion, problems are what make sims fun) Sounds fun. Now The F111 Aardvark.. this monster flys mach 2.5 at SIXTY thousand! (1.4 at near the ground!) thats insane it carries EIGHT CBU 87's! TWENTY MK-20cbus! Thats as much payload as the Warthog! it carried AtA missiles.. AND had an internal cannon. Its ferry range was 3,500 miles, its take off weight was 1oo,ooo pounds. Its swept wing, its two man (with this new AI RIO everyones enjoying) And when it dumps fuel, they kick the burners and light it.. leading to this Which ED absolutely HAS to model. I mean, at night it lights up the entire area like a SUU25. These are the little things that people talk about. That sells modules. All packed in one plane. Its got all the things people talk about in regard to each plane. All packed in one schmokin hot bod So, ill call the Aardvark anything you want haha. Fighter.. Bomber.. Shirley.. anything.
  15. In Vietnam Era AC130 "Spookies" the pilot not only flew the craft.. but pulled the trigger on the Gatlings, 40mm BOFORS and 105mm Howitzers. They hung a HUD in the left window, the pilot put the pipper on the target he was orbiting and dumped hell from above. There were gun crews, and sometimes they flew Sigint people, had Countermeasure stuff. Flight crew. Engineer Pilot Copilot. But the Spooky could be flown "single seat" so to speak. I know all the flights they lost were a little under 10,000 feet. That would be a normal operational altitude in DCS. The "Hot" Zone. They could probably orbit even higher, im not sure what ammunition distances are in DCS.. but it sure seems like it would be fun. Either bringing such a brute down into the streetfight, or sacrifice accuracy for safety with altitude. im a little curious
  16. THATS IT! That works perfect. I bound my snap views to the joystick, so now i can set up my snap views and check them, in 5 seconds. Thanks man! Great Link
  17. I play on a small monitor. I want to put my MFCDs on snap view. So i want to press and hold 0+4 and fill the screen with my Left MFCD (tads, eshd, dsms, etc.) or press 0+6 for my Right Screen (MAV, cdu, FLIR/TGP, etc) However.. i have no clue how to "Save Cockpit Angle" for each of the NUMPAD keys (basically.. i fumble around holding right alt, right ctrl, 0, 0+x, x, etc. until i get something that works.) Every time i think i save it right, it saves to reset view (numpad 5) or Ill finally get one of the mfcds on snap, then i delete it trying to set up the second mfcd. What is the exact procedure.. to save to each of the 9 cockpit angles?
  18. 10 year old post. Still the same answers. AC130. Which could be used in context to this game. of course 10 years on.. no hints at heavies. Id like to mention i dont consider the F111 a heavy.. but it certainly would fit into that 3rd generation niche. Actually we would need a few Golden Era craft to compliment the F4 Phantom (since that seems to be where the money is next) Otherwise the Phantom will be out gunned by half the mods.. and over powered to the other half. So if we go the Way of the Phantom.. i would certainly like to see the F111, maybe even Corsairs, Crusaders, Floggers.. THAT would make a great platform to fly the B58 Hustler The Hustler is flown like a jet, its meant to be flown like a Jet. It would fit (only if it had 50's era craft to fly with) It was a 3 man craft too.. love to see how a modder would tackle that. Immersion is King Just for Shizz and Gigglets... How much would it cost to Pay Someone to mod an AC-130? how many people does it take and how long?

  20. You know.. that would be an APP people would pay for. Everywhere. I would right now. a simple program to export the Multi Function Display with its buttons.. to a tablet. like export snap view or something. 5.99 per plane.. youd make a mint
  21. Thats a legitimate question there. Is it feasible to build onto the FC mods? Like the F15, 27-29 Is it Feasible.. to create fully functioning cockpits/systems, onto the toned down modules? im surprised the f15 wasnt prioritized. at least here in the states, the f15 is kinda the gold standard that everything is compared to. Also.. Raz's RIO in the 14 would be an excellent model for the F111's second seat. ps, i fly the warthog and the harrier, looking to buy a third.. what would YOU get (playability, polished, fun, completed/buggy,)
  22. You know, thats worth asking again Of all the DCS modules.. which are the best in regard to final product, and which are the most buggy? Which DCS modules are polished.. and which are quirky?
  23. My first few weeks in the Harrier I guess ignorance is bliss. I cant quite identify the bugs you guys are talking about. But it certainly has a few quirks that im trying to get used to. It sure does seem to go non-ballistic occasionally, when the Kraken comes Snackin. For a while there i was putting her down in the water because no matter my speed the water would absorb me like jello. Unfortunately, ive already begun to muddy my procedures and controls between the Warthog and the Harrier. So i get confused. IM not certain if im doing wrong procedures, if the module is buggy, or im flat out incorrect in application. I originally was going to go with the Viggen.. but everyone said the same thing. "Organized Missions" and i dont have any multiplayer friends. Im limited to "Fast Mission" so.. as beautiful as the Viggen is i might go with something else for my 3rd mod. So, after the beautiful Warthog, and the Harrier, what would YOU get? Fun and flyable .. and how polished and completed.. lol
  24. I bet you could get vertigo flying this rig.. and here I cant even figure out how to export my MFCDs to a tablet.. i finally understand what they mean with 'Green with Envy' Beautiful.
  25. I just got it today. Ive been playing the Thunderbolt 2 since 2012, and the Harrier is my first expansion. Ive been flying it all day. Or at least trying to learn the tutorials. im quite the menace in it. But i can tell you this, the 200 knot difference in speed alone is exciting. being used to the hog. thoroughly complicated. So im having trouble with my tutorials when it comes to knowing where to look or what a term is or the little DCS quirks. but its been alot of fun. I sure do like the TACAN better in the Harrier than the Hog. but at the moment i dont even have many heys or hotas bound. Down to it.. the top notch choices (if you are asking about 35 dollars as an expense) you have the Viggen the 21bis and the Harrier. after that its korea, or ww2 models. I havent learned how to multiplayer yet.. so learning the viggen for my "fast missions" is a little much. the BIS is only 24 though.. but i havent personally flown it.
