Can you not copy keybinds between stable and openbeta? Same modules? Different drives? Every time i try to use a keybind from another version, its always whacked or doesnt work. Some times the keybinds appear mixed.

You guys arent answering question. We need Fast Missions that cater to Helo Objectives. One click and i can fly a SP mission in a Warthog, perfect for Warthogs. I can JTAC precision targets, i can listen to UHF calls and use offset waypoints to find other targets. I can fly CAP in the Mirage (if enemy forces start on the ground, its even better than MP sometimes). But even the Black Shark.. is given the same mission as Warthog. A waypoint into the mix, and back. (with no datalink support, an in 10 years ive never heard anyone use Offset, or Bulls, and Black Shark in the same sentence) We need random single player objectives, that cater to Helicopters. "Land here, disembark" "Pick up here" "Land by destroyed tank group" "clear landing zone XX" "Interdict column on this road" "Pick up downed pilot"

Is there any Bloat, in DCS World? (that can be safely deleted?)
Bartacomus replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
Nodak i did try MKLINKing the install files to the D drive. But unfortunately, it downloaded the file then told me the space was insufficient. I may have made an error, but its gonna be cheaper just upgrading. I think ive spent more on data this month than a 500gb WD drive would cost. 10bucks per 100gigs, just trying to sort this out lol. Mr.Pickles, only downloading what you need would great. Core mods has 5 gigs for ww2 gear (you cant use unless you purchase a module). 7 gigs worth of F14 (i dont own the f14) 2.5 gigs worth of Christen Eagle (dont own it) 3 gigs worth of C101.. (dont own it). Things like that. It might make individual installs slower, but whats the difference when we download updates. Shagrat, yeah that TrackFile adds up quick! -

Thats the brutal Truth right there. Ill check out that longevity provision too. Much appreciated guys -
Is there any Bloat, in DCS World? (that can be safely deleted?)
Bartacomus replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
Certainly. Now that i think about it, its really a requirement. Ive been making 120gb work for the last 3 or 4 months (SDD, playing from HDD is just too clunky). Pretty sure this update puts a coffin nail in the 120gig drives. Question! Mower maybe you can help me this, I tried to use my d:\ drive as the _download location. Using MKLINK. The idea was.. download it to the HDD, extract it to the SSD. (but it still wasnt enough space.) Now i have 89 gigs free in the SSD. Is it still going to take 91 gigs, if i try a fresh reinstall from the HDD to the SSD? -

Bartacomus replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
That image i posted above is a fresh install (91 gigs). Deleted the folder, and reinstalled from a new DCSworld 2.7 Open Beta download. That should be the Core program. And DCS has never automatically added my old modules.. when i start from scratch. (thats the only thing i can think of) Now, If this IS only the core program. It no longer fits (or be installed) on a 120gig drive with an operating system installed. Im not a software engineer, so i dont know why it takes 90 gigs to install 60-65 gigs (stated minimum requirement). BUT, its moot if it cant be installed on 120 anyway? See what im saying? -

This means DCS and Windows no longer fit on 120 Gigs right? That kinda changes the "Minimum Requirements" yeah? -
Can you download an update and install from a 2nd drive?
Bartacomus replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
Thats my thinking too. What a disaster. The first update ruined the executable. So i had to delete my modules manually. I finally get to 1.8 gigs shy. So i delete the rest of my modules. When i download the update for the 3rd time (i pay for data) it doesnt recognize all the new extra space. I ran Repair.. same problem. I guess i have to start from scratch. Or 120 gigs will no longer hold DCS_world and Windows. A straight answer from the Updater would be nice. My HIND money... just went to paying my IP for data. *nurd rage ensues* -

Yeah, i was looking though "Core Mods" and the damn F14 is over 7 gigs.. i dont even own the F14. The China Assets are 5 gigs.. the C101 is 1.6 gigs? Yeah, i seriously need a hardware upgrade. Thanks for the pointers -
Is there any Bloat, in DCS World? (that can be safely deleted?)
Bartacomus posted a topic in DCS 2.9
Are there any folders or files in DCSworld that can be safely deleted? For the sake of Disk Size? Redundant Files? Rarely used apps? Vestigial Code? Previous Versions? Anything i can do to shave off 1 or 2 gigs, without crippling the software? Extra Credit: What Windows folders or files can be Nixed as well? (or does anyone make a stripped down version, or hatchet-job script, that streamlines Windows?) -
Can you download an update and install from a 2nd drive?
Bartacomus replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
"Not enough disk space in the Install Folder" looks like no matter what size the download is, the install folder still needs the required space. If anyone has some additional ideas, would surely appreciate it. -

Can you download an update and install from a 2nd drive?
Bartacomus replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
Little above my paygrade there. So, i boot the SSD and upgrade, and it will automatically download to this "symbolic" folder in the HDD, and update from there. Ill look up some tutorials on the MK command. Thanks. Thats a good idea for the maps too.. do you find a big difference, when DCS has to access maps cross drives? Anybody reading this know the current download folder, i cannot find a post about it or locate it manually. (i assume these files get deleted after using?) -
I have a 120gb SSD, which barely fits Windows, DCSworld and TrackIR software. I usually have somewhere between 2-6gb remaining on the drive. In short i cant update my SSD, from lack of space. Can I.. download the DCSworld update to my HDD drive, then update the SDD drive from HDD? Extra credit. 1. Can i copy my modules from my SSD to my HDD for "storage" until i want to fly them, and copy them back to my SSD? (downloaded to HDD, they dont always copy to SDD and work) 2. Any worthless windows folders or files i can delete? Bloat? Any windows programs.. 99.9% of us dont use, or need.. that can go?

How to start engines after a fire> extinguish> land/repair?
Bartacomus replied to Pekins's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Is it not simulated? Is the APU pump feeding both, the cross feed pump? Because i just started both engines simultaneously, after pulling both fuel handles, in a dive, with both throttles open. -
Not really. You can Adjust your TrackIR curves for more sensitivity in yaw. But you sacrifice precision. I have the same problem, the HMIT and Ka50s HMS. It feels so weird side-eyeing the target and trying to nod the reticle around. If you nose down (below HUD) and recenter TrackIR (f12) It will help put the Reticle on the horizon (not below it). So, at least you can be more accurate horizontally Here you see Track IR, bottom left (the red line) my head is turned 15 degrees, on the right, in game the head is turned 25 degrees. here you see ive changed the setting.. My head is still turned 15 degrees.. But in game my head is now 90 degrees (not 25 anymore) to look 90 degrees in game, i only have to turn my head 15 degrees. . Dont sweat it, its takes a little time and effort to get a good compromise with TrackIR.

How to start engines after a fire> extinguish> land/repair?
Bartacomus replied to Pekins's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Ideal Conditions, no. But i can think of a handful of reasons. Being out of flares, Coasting over a valley full of Manpads, Defunct CMSP. Also, the fuel handles dont sever fuel lines, they just shut off supply. Pushing the Handle back in resupplies the engines with fuel, then you can restart the engine. APU restarts are exceedingly simple. Windmill starts not so much, but its possible with enough altitude. And a whole hell of alot of fun to pull off as well. Part of the fun for me is testing limits. Does the A10 go IR silent with Fuel Shutoff? Does DCS IR missiles constantly track, or is a single calculation when they are launched? Would killing the engine, while the missile is *already* in flight STILL confuse it? IDK, Maybe im a Born Beta-Tester (NineLine/BigLouie im lookin at you) -
yes Did Mav Space Stabilize make it in?
Bartacomus replied to AvroLanc's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
So Stabilizing, this will keep the MAV reticle from dancing around from the plane moving? (as long as you have it held down?) -
How do i get my wingmen to start with Group ID? So we can link our TADS. It would be nice, to see what they are lasing. The AI identify targets very easily. Also, knowing where my wingmen are and what altitude would really be nice. I have tried manually setting up NET ID, then using ALT J to jump between craft, but when you change aircraft.. any Group and Self ID seem to disappear, along with any SPI. The A10 TADS and CDU is what set this module apart from everything in this SIM. Its be nice to utilize them.

Bartacomus replied to Pekins's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Does it kill your IR signature though? Someone told me DCS IR signatures are broken into 3 categories Off(or Dead), On, and Afterburner. If pulling the handles kills your IR, it would make you invisible. Its a bit like cheating, but the cut off is fast & the warthog coasts fairly well. Worth testing, just for shits and giggles.
