  1. I need some help to find out if and how I could use 3 monitors for sims. Take for example Black Shark: I have an HD4890 vid card which support 2 monitors, I also have an on board videocard (HD3300). Is it possible to use the regular and onboard vidcard to work together (not hybrid crossfire) to display 3 monitors? Like for example you connect the shkval/abris (1 screen) and the main screen on the HD4890 while using the onboard video card to display TouchPal on the third screen? Or do you have to use one single card?
  2. Thanks for the concern. I was aware, kinda. What makes me so enthusiastic is that it's simply very cumbersome to use all the cockpit switches (I can imagine even with touchscreen), while in real life there isn't this screen barrier. So I like this one because, although it removes some "realism", it also promotes a more natural way of pressing switches, because it's easier to navigate. Not because the placement is different (or "easier" to remember), but simply because there is a whole screen for it (just like in RL you can very quickly use your eyes to look around, while this is very hard in a sim). So I really like the general idea :) ------------------------------------- Other question: should this mod influence FreeTrack? I just tried the mod using a spare LCD (non touch) and it all works, but somehow my FreeTrack won't work anymore. Anything related or just pure coincidence?
  3. wooah, this sounds like the best thing ever!! See, I was thinking about getting that 22" touchscreen while it was on sale this morning, but I didn't buy it. Sad that I didn't know about this piece of software. So just to be sure, let's say you get 1 touch screen monitor and use a regular one for normal view, you will be able to use the 2 monitors, 1 for normal view and one with all the buttons which you can touch? And it's Black Shark's right? This is fantastic! EDIT: I can still get the monitor, it has these specs, will that work all right or is the resolution bad? 21,5" Full HD multi-touchscreen monitor Maximale resolutie 1920 x 1080 (16:9)
  4. I was wondering how most flight simmers put their control sticks etc. on their desk, if they are even on the desk? Right now I have my stick on my desk, but my desk is pretty high so the bottom of the controller is near my stomach / chest. This makes it very painful for my arm to play a sim because my hand needs to be way too high. I guess the ideal height would be between your legs (no pun intended), but my chair is too small for that. What do you guys and gals do? Do you put your sticks on a piece of wood which you put on your chair? Or do you built a special chair/desk? Any pics for suggestions? Any help/suggestions appreciated. * I just have a normal desk and a normal office chair.
  5. That's basically what I did. Installed Lock On, immediately installed FC2 after that. Runs fine! Haven't uninstalled Lock On yet, don't mind the 1+GB installation. You can install Black Shark any time you want, it's a stand alone product and doesn't require any LOMAC product.
  6. Sorry for digging up a thread, but I guess it's better to use an older one than starting new. I read in this topic that A10 is a good plane to start if you don't have any LOMAC (or fixed wing) sim experience? I have only experience with Black Shark, and there are so many airplanes in FC2, any recommendations which to start with? A10?
  7. Thanks. I already read the FAQ on the website, but it seems that it is not up to date because only the forum version has this question "What if I do not have a copy of Flaming Cliffs to upgrade to Flaming Cliffs 2.0?" I don't have anything (only DCS:BS) so as far as I understand I'll need to get LOMAC and Flaming Cliffs 1 in order to play Flaming Cliffs 2.
  8. Congrats! Two short questions (hope it's appropriate for this thread): - So FC2.0 is for $30 a standalone game/update, or do I need to buy a previous version first? - Is the region the same as DCS: Black Shark or is it bigger/different? It looks the same but not 100% sure.
  9. Interesting! So most meetups are at 1pm GMT? Is it going to be upcoming saturday or sunday or both? I'll try to join in, I have been wanting to play co-op for many months now. In what location is the server hosted? USA or Europe? Any known problems with lag for people from Europe?
  10. My harddisk crashed a month ago so I lost all my things, including my DCS:BS game profile. Since I'm a stat freak I like to recreate my lost profile, is this possible via config files or something? I only had to do the last mission of the first campaign (mission 12 if I'm correct), I had about 79% ~ 80% success rate with 5 or 6 deaths. Flight hours were somewhere between 35 ~ 37 hours. Is it possible to recreate that info?
  11. Same here!
  12. Worked here too on Win7 64 ENG
  13. I play without TrackIR and it is possible.
  14. Sweet! Can't wait to play the Umbrella mission. Sounds very nice :)
  15. I freakin loved the night mission in the Deployment campaign! (The one where you had to blow up a house with high officials in it). Since then I am hoping for someone to make a few cool night missions! It really is a different aproach to the sim, and maybe not completely realistic, it's still very nice
  16. Very nice indeed! Great work!
  17. Be sure to order your wingman to attack the air targets, at least that did the job for me.
  18. Thanks for your answers Viper. One question: what is exactly meant by Simple Flight Model and Advanced Flight Model? Are we talking about the complexity of the virtual aircraft with all its tubes, engines etc. modelled accurately or has it something do with how in depth the control of the aircraft is? Or something completely different?
  19. Looks really nice indeed, wish I had a touch screen :D
  20. I'm thinking, after getting DCS: Black Shark last summer, to get me a copy of LockOn + Flaming Cliffs. But there are some things from my Black Shark (BS) perspective that are not really clear to me at this point. I hope I can get some answers: - There are multiple aircrafts, are they all as detailed as the BS, especially in learning all the startup procedures for every different aircraft? Or can you basicly fly every aircraft once you mastered the basics of a single one? - If I'm correct it's on the same engine. Is it also the same world location as BS? Or a different part of the world? - Maybe the most difficult question, is it still "worth it" to get into the game this late after the party? There's probably no definite answer, but I mean, is it still alive? Thanks :)
  21. Personally I thought the Deployment campaign was pretty easy. I started it with only 7 flight hours under my belt and have a 80% mission success rate (including one crash because my cat decided to jump on my desk while flying NoE). Still need to finish the last mission though. I'm playing with the "less gamey labels" mod so basicly you get labels when you're about 1.5km or 2km away and every label is grey (friendlies and enemies). It basicly helps you to find those last annoying infantry men because for stationary objects and vehicles you're always much further away.
  22. Ah I see, now I remember that reading somewhere in this thread that you were planning on making those. Thanks for the clarification!
