  1. Fixed Foveated rendering makes very sense with my Reverb G2 because it’s only the very center that is sharp anyway so you move your head around a lot and the sharp center follows. But the edge to edge clarity we have with the Pico 4 will suffer since the foveated rendering is center fixed and we would need to move the head around more to see clearly. Meaning if I use that I might as well use the Reverb G2. That’s my initial thought about it since it is fixed. If that rendering had had eye tracking- then yes, it would have been nice for Pico4.
  2. Cool, thanks. I will try that! I have tried Godlike, but not tried to increase it beyond that in StreamVR. Yup- I’m using Win11 :)
  3. Ups - Sorry - I haven´t updated my signature for a while... Hehe. My system has had two upgrades since I made that signature with the RTX 2080 and so on. Used a RTX 3090 for some time. But this week I bought a complete new system - which is pretty neat... My setup now is this: Phanteks Eclipse G500A Mid Tower case Corsair AX1600i, 1600W PSU ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI motherboard Intel Core i9-13900K CPU Asus ROG Strix LC II 360 ARGB CPU Water Cooler Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 6000MHz 32GB RAM (planning on adding another 32gb there..) Kingston FURY Renegade PCIe M.2 NVME SSD 7300/7000 MB/s -2TB + Kingston M.2 NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 3,500/2,800MB/s -2TB ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition So... the only way to go now is probably upgrading the headset. Or lower my expectations for what is being possible for the time being. But... If I had had the system I wrote in my signature some time ago, then your advice would have been perfect, and I agree with you. My fortunately, my system is way better these days We´ll see what happes
  4. Yes, I have used this before. But right now I only have the beta version anyway. The method to upgrade from Release to Beta that I posted over here, it worked. But of course the updater removed the Release version and left me onlyt with the beta. So... I finally got my Reverb G2 to work wtih just openXR and no SteamVR using the --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR like described elsewhere. Won't get into any more of that since this is the Pico part of the forum. But what to do... I love the center sharpness of my G2, it's been a while since I used it. But I also love the edge to edge clarity which is better on the Pico4. And the compression is still a problem with the Pico, so for me everything in the distance gets more blurry... Solution?? Varjo Aero?? Hehe.--- maybe I'll order one.
  5. I tried it, and it downloaded a few files for sure. But I have no idea if it is the beta or not now. I launch it with the same Icon on my desktop as before. I have my Reverb G2 headset connected, and SteamVR still booted up. How do I know if it is the beta I now have installed? Didnt find the versions numbers on DCS download page. Meaning, no virtdual desktop or pico4 connected now.
  6. Thanks, it is still somewhat confusing still, how to do it. I just bought a new PC and have spent the last 2 days installing, downloading, installing, updating--- both Windows, a bunch of games and everything else. Many Gigabytes all over again I guess... Sorry to bother you again,,,, but, does this still work?? - I don't know how old it is. Found it on a webpage: "How do I move to the Open Beta Branch? Standalone Open File Explorer and navigate to your DCS World install Hold LShift + Right click on bin folder and press "Open command prompt here" or "Open PowerShell window here" Type or paste .\DCS_updater.exe update '@openbeta' " Seems I could maybe save a few gigs of downloading this way?
  7. Is "everybody" playing beta? For me Beta often means "not stable" and unfinnished. So I didn't pick that one when I installed DCS. Is it possible to have both beta and finnished version installed, and if so - how? (so that they don't interfere with each other).
  8. Is this for the stable release version or only for the beta?
  9. Dont use USB link stream with Pico 4. I think most people in the pico4 community know that. USB streaming to Pico4 is flawed/broken, and has been like that since release. Pico4 works perfectly with virtual desktop, and for me Pico4 looks way better in than Quest 2 even when the Quest2 is using usb link.
  10. Hi all, I got both the Reverb G2 and the Pimax 8KX . I have the stand alone version of DCS, not Steam. So the other day I followed the first post in this thread https://forum.dcs.world/topic/295123-openxr-guide-for-wmr-headsets/ and got rid of SteamVR too for my Reverb G2 and play now with the OpenXR/Open composite solution. Got it set up smooth thanks to the OpenXR Developer Tool and OpenXR Toolkit companion app. Now, I understand I have to some extra steps to use my Pimax 8KX too. I'm afraid to mess up my G2 Solution cause it's so smooth now. Anyone know a tutorial or what I need to do? I mean, the Open Composite is already installed.
  11. Hi all, been away from DCS for a while. Mostly been flying in MSFS2020. But since I recently got myself a new joystick, I'd thought I try it out in DCS VR too. And that was not a pleasant experience. Not sure what had changed since last time, but I got microstutters no matter what. Motion reprojection didn't seem to work. Did some optimizations, turned off HAGS and ... tried different things. Nothing really helped. Yes, cleaned up and repaired the install... So, then I found this thread--- and followed the instructions exactly like the described in the first post. And it works! No more steamVR. And Motion Reprojection works perferctly too (as perferct as it can, sometimes there a few artifacts, but not much). It is way more fluid than it ever has been! So now, I have opencomposite installed, and I use Open XR Developer tools and Open XR toolkit companion app, and adjust them like I am used to in MSFS2020. So thanks to the thread starter for the tutorial, and to whoever made the OpenComposite solution.
  12. Why not?? All you have to do is to copy a few files, put them into DCS bin directory. If you don't like it, or before updating to 2.7, then just click on those files and press delete. And they're gone. They don't change anything. It's like putting something into MSFS 2020 /community folder, and then deleting it if you don't like. Your loss then I was a sceptic too, like I said in my previous post. This mod certainly helps for overall sharpness, and bein able to detect things on the ground too
  13. Now this was a surprise. Not that I don't trust you guys.... but sometimes there's a lot "work" for very little impact on anything in DCS or any other flight sim for that matter. Different drivers, nvidia cpl settings, hags on or off, but oh wait, that was with another driver, now back to that other driver and so on... and now this... All I did was to download that zip file from Github, put the files into bin folder. I increased the sharpening to 1.2 in the control panel for this mod while in 2D. But then later on VR - Wow! That as a very nice upgrade, sharper! Things just pop out more. Also I would like to add that I don't like to play around too much with mods and such in my games. But this was worth it, and really, not that complicated either. Thanks guys! Oh, not sure what my signature says these days. But I have I9 9900k@ 5Ghz, 32gb ram, RTX 3090, HP Reverb G2. And I didn't notice any fps impact. Don't think the shimmering got any worse either. If so, my brain adjusted to it rather quickly and appreciated the increased sharpness and pop instead.
  14. Thanks a lot! Great information. I will defineatly check out the info you linked to. It was just a bit puzzling that it clearly says: "You need to have the "Open Beta" version DCS World 2.5 installed on your PC for this product." at the bottom on the E-shop page for DCS Syria. Guess I will go for it then Thanks.
  15. I see many recommend the Syria map. But I think it says I need DCS beta version to use it? It don't use the beta, I have the latest official release. What do I do to use the Beta version? Can I use all my other planes, terrains and campaigns with the beta? Do I uninstall the latest official version first? Any downsides to use the beta? I fly in VR only I have A10, F14, F18, Sabre.
  16. I don't know if it's been covered here before, but I tried to google it. Didn't find out. But - those of you who has upgraded from Reverb G1 to G2, was it simply to unplug the G1 and and plug in the G2, or did you have to uninstall any kind of software, remove drivers, remove SteamVr and re-install, and so on? What steps did you have to go through? I have an HP Reverb now, but hopefully I will get my G2 later today :)
  17. I run my HP Reverb G1, same resolution as G2, just fine now at 100% resolution :) That is with a RTX 2080 Super (meaning non Ti). The thing is, with such a high native resolution on the Reverb G1 and G2, compared to Rift and others, you don't need to go as high with super sampling and all that to get a clear picture. :) So many will discover that they won't need to push all that many more pixels around the screen anyway. :) Really looking forward to getting G2, with better lenses with better sweetspot, better sound system, better panels (dirty screen effect gone, better colors and contrast), hardware IPD adsjustment, better cable.... resolution might be the same, but the new lenses and panels... got my RTX 3090 today btw ;)
  18. The game crashes to desktop with no error messages when I try to download my new content that I bought today, the F14 and super carrier module. I see several others have had the same issue from several years back and until recently, but never seen any clear solution. I've tried the repair tool. Tried running the game as administrator. Tried disconnecting my VR headset, tried turning of microsoft antivirus. The rest of the game is running fine, both 2D and in VR. I have lots of content installed, terrains and airplanes. All of that is running fine. But I can not try to install my new content bought today becuase it then immeadetly crashes to desktop, no messages or anything. Not sure if I dare doing a complete re-install because what if I can't re-download my old modules then, getting the same error? I have not done any modification or strange tricks with this install. ----- Ok, I think I have found the solution. The "DCS_updater.exe" file somehow has gotten renamed into "DCS_updater.exe.exe" - Yes, an extra ".exe" there at the end. Now, if you run the updater by itself to check for updates to the game engine, by clicking the DCS_updater file, it will go online and check for updates. BUT- the module manager also seem to rely on that file to download new content, and when the game looks for that file and it's named incorrectly, the games exits and the downloader doesn't start. So, solution, check that the "DCS_updater.exe" file is named correctly, with no extra. ".exe" at the end (or any other errors). I have NO idea that has happened! I don't play around with my game install, and do typicly everything by the book, most of the time:) DCS_updater.exe is located in DCS WORLD\bin directory.
  19. I don't think it's possible to use the Vive Pro controllers with the Reverb, do you have a link to where you read it? :) But - I had the HTC Vive Pro before and upgraded to HP Reverb - and you really have something to look forward to!! For me it was night and day when it came to being able to read the instruments in the cockpit. I have the NON-pro version. It doesn't say "consumer" version the box, but it doesn't say "Pro" either - so I guess it's the consumer version then. In the beginning I didn't like the padding of my headset. It almost felt like it was scratching the top of my face. But, after I had used it several times, it softened up and now feels ok. One thing you will appreciate with the Reverb over the Vive Pro is that it is lighter. Vive Pro is heavier. But perhaps with more pleasant padding overall. Enjoy! (And turn down that SteamVR supersampling that you probably are used to with your Vive Pro - it will kill the framerate of your Reverb and it really isn't needed anymore--- And, set up motion reprojection in the "default.vrsettings" file : )
  20. I think you're right. I used HTC Vive Pro with lots of supersampling before (don't remember how much because it was a constant struggle to get it right). But I've had the HP Reverb now for some time and I run it in its native resolution, 2160x2160 per eye, and no supersampling in SteamVR or in the game, DCS. I don't need it, I can read everything in the cockpit with no problems. Would I like some supersampling for my Reverb? Sure, but - performance is more important now. And it's way better without supersampling than the Vive Pro was with supersampling. I haven't done the numbers but my hope is that the new Pimax gives me the same or better pixel density as the Reverb, but with much improved FOV.
  21. SweViver used Steam SS 100% for DCS. And he also said "in game SS at 1.2". Which I think he shouldn't have done. In-game SS/PD in DCS at 1.2 is hard on the performance. He should used 1.0 there, and gotten smoother performance, and he probably could have cranked up some other visual improvements instead.
  22. Ok, I will check it out. Probably after the weekend cause I'm going away some days. Hopefully it will have some positive impact in X-Plane too.
  23. You mean deactivating Hyperthreading Bios? There are no software solutions for doing that? I have I9 9900K running at 5ghz all cores. Are you sure turning off HT will improve performance in DCS VR? I managed to make a stable clock at 5Ggz, so I'm pretty familiar with tuning my PC. BUT, I'd rather not make changes in BIOS unless I have to. I also play X-Plane 11 in VR, do you know if it will help there also?
  24. I use beta for both SteamVR and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR. Newest versions installed. I have removed the // from the default.settingsvr file, use "motionvector" there. Does this mean I don't have to have activated this in this settingsfile anymore, and that I can do it in a Steam VR menu instead? I can't seem to get it working through Steam VR settings menu. Any reasons for using the beta files at all now?
