The only dual throttle sticks, other than X-55 and the Warthog, are the the X-65f and the G940. They are both expensive, have been discontinued, and weird setups. The X-65f is force sensing with no moving parts and the G940 is a force feedback stick, with its own problems. The only other thing you could do is buy a Warthog stick, they sell them solo now, and a Saitek or CH quadrant maybe?

AMD Mantle - Catalyst 14.1 Released.
remon replied to SkateZilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's only in BF4, in Starswarm all CPUs benefit. The difference is that Starswarm was build as a stress test for Mantle, and with certain Mantle benefits in mind.. -
Since we're using lenses to magnify/focus the light to our eyes, doesn't the diameter of the lens (and, subsequently, the FOV) affect the resolution also?

Although off topic, I'll bite. The world doesn't have a problem with cluster munitions because they're brutal. The world has the same problem with it because of all the submunitions that are left unexploded, and like landmines, cause problems to people after the end of the war. As for the Highway of Death, I'll just quote wikipedia: "The offensive action for which Highway 80 is infamous became controversial with some commentators alleging disproportionate use of force, saying that the Iraqi forces were retreating from Kuwait in compliance with the original UN Resolution 660 of August 2, 1990; and the column allegedly included Kuwaiti hostages[8] and civilian refugees. The alleged refugees included women and children family members of pro-Iraqi, PLO-aligned Palestinian militants and Kuwaiti collaborators who had fled shortly before the returning Kuwaiti authorities pressured nearly 200,000 Palestinians to leave Kuwait. Activist and former United States Attorney General Ramsey Clark alleged that these attacks violated the Third Geneva Convention, Common Article 3, which outlaws the killing of soldiers who "are out of combat." Clark included it in his 1991 report WAR CRIMES: A Report on United States War Crimes Against Iraq to the Commission of Inquiry for the International War Crimes Tribunal". Again, no problem with the brutality of the cluster bomb, it's just a whole other matter.

Does this still have a twist stick rudder?

Tbh, I don't care as much about Nevada getting released as about EDGE getting implemented integrated in the game.

I think Belsimteks Mi 8 is the same.

Is this based on DCS?

"Update: Today we incorporated the new trees and high elevation forests into the map (once the map is in DCS, we can evaluate the performance impact of tree collision and decide what we will do). We are also in the process of now converting the 100 meter per pixel elevation mesh to 10 meter. Once that is done, we will recalculate all the terrain shadow projections, normal maps, and object shadows. Today the team also started to set up the ground shading and sun lighting color parameters that we believe will start to give the world a much more natural look. The biggest challenge has been finding the right balance of ground textures between visual detail and map file size. Not a promise, but if all goes well, I hope to have some new images or a video for you all on Friday." New update from Matt. Does that mean that there could be an option to enable tree collision per map, or are they talking about EDGE in general? For example some smaller maps could have tree collision?

Physx != physics BF3 is using its own engine with its own destruction physics. Arma 3 is using its own engine with its own explosion effects. Its using Physx only for the vehicles. And again, Physx != physics. To reiterate, when people are talking about physx here, Winfield, they're talking about the Nvidia proprietary physics API. You don't have to use physx to have good physics. You want physics stuff that would be useful in DCS? Watch these.

And which one of that helps with the game exactly?

I think he's talking about the smartphones sitting on the desk and projecting image into your eyes, those are impossible. With the use of lenses, freshnel?, you should be able to do this with an HMD system.

This isn't news, and I don't get why people get this excited for stuff that has been around for 30 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_retinal_display

The castAR Kickstarter has started!

Did you watch the video I posted in the previous page? -

I've seen autocalibrating projector screens a couple of years ago, with 4 light sensors, one for each corner, reading the light of the projector. They were described by Johnny Lee, who's known for some excelent headtracking/touchscreen mods for Wiimote. They could merge something like that with castAR I suppose. EDIT: Hmm, hadn't seen the RFID video before, it seems to be the same thing as the video I posted. -
Hmm, those wingtip vortices look awfuly similar to the ones ED implemented. Maybe they borrowed HungaroJETs mod? If so, hopefuly they will release his fuselage vapor mod too. EDIT: weren't those screenshots posted before 1.2.6?

So very true. Both Arma 3, Take on Helicopters and War Thunder use this middleware, and all three of them, while looking somewhat similar, have different approaches, even Arma 3 and Take on which are both made by BIS. Both BIS games btw have a weird effect where if you're above the clouds, theres a big circle below you where they don't render. Arma 3: Tokoh with Arma 2 map: War Thunder:

I think he was going to release them as mods, not as paid add ons. And he already has made an offer to luthier for the models, back when the kickstarter was announced. What happened after this, we don't know.

Where did you find these?

WTH happened to the load times?
remon replied to ScottishMartialArts's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I had that problem and I have an SSD. I had the preload radius to full. Check if lowering it helps you. -
The Huey hcan be activated in Steam, but I can't use my old serial from digitalcombatsimulator.com. Any word on that?
-
I think it would be just best to get the option. Let the WWII Simmers get their own World-lite version, and just let us old World people merge the two installations. I don't think it gets more simple than that. Other than the devs having to ensure compatibility for every module they release.

Yeah, I didn't want to post ingame pictures before the situation was cleared.

Go to your steam library, right click on the DCS World entry and select the Properties option. There's a tab named Betas, with a drop down menu named "Select the beta you would like to opt in". Then you can chose the openbeta. Do mind that the download isn't small, about 860 MB. If you want to return to 1.25 you just go to the same drop down menu and select NONE. It should redownload just the files that were changed in the beta update. So, it does overwrite, but going back isn't a fuss. Or at least that's what happens with most other games that are in beta. Arma 3 works this way for example. There's a development build that gets small patches daily, and a stable release that gets all of those small patches at once whenever they're sure the develompent build is stable enough. And you can change between the stable release and the development build easily.
