Help with some tactic and game play questions
Tucano_uy replied to Gun Jam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Ok, tested. I was right and wrong at the same time. When a fighter reports engaging, it reports its own position, but when reports a tally it reports the enemy units position. Mission attached, simple and boring, just start the mission and wait, the F15 reports engaging. It will report bulls 178/80 approx, and the targets are a few miles north of bullseye. When it gets closer, reports tally, with target position. Bullseye test.miz -
Help with some tactic and game play questions
Tucano_uy replied to Gun Jam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I will try to do it again and post a track or mission, I might be wrong. I also find it not very useful. Thinking about it, how would a pilot report a radar contact in reference to a bullseye? In the warthog one would hook an element in the TAD and reference it to the BE, maybe in an advanced fighter you can do the same with a radar contact? -
Help with some tactic and game play questions

I might be wrong, but I believe that bullseye calls reports the position of the reporting aircraft and not the position of the reported target. I came to this conclussion with a simple mission with AI aircraft engaging eachother BVR and myself just fooling around in an A10 and spectating the combat. IIRC it was quite clear that the buullseye positions were the ones of the reporting acft, at least in AA combat. -
Slew control key assignments to have 8 positions instead of 4
Tucano_uy replied to Tucano_uy's topic in DCS Wishlist
Good that it works for you. Unfortunately my controller does't have such software. I believe that what it does is combining the vertical and horizontal inputs when you move diagonally. -
Slew control key assignments to have 8 positions instead of 4
Tucano_uy replied to Tucano_uy's topic in DCS Wishlist
I have all on the pov: tms, dms, trim, cms, radios, slew, zoom and coolie. Just using different modifiers. It took me a couple of days to memorise the combinations of lalt, lctrl, lshift and lwin + pov, but now it works like a charm (except for the slew issue) -
Hi, I use the PoV hat in the joystick with a modifier as the slew control. Ideally it would be an axis but in my joystick is 8 different positions. In the simulation there's only 4 assignments for slew (left, up, right, down) and I mapped the hat to this positions. The problem is that I can't slew diagonally, even if the joystick has the possibility to do so. Would it be possible to add up-left, up-right, down-left and down-right key assignments?

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
Tucano_uy replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi Headspace, I've just installed the latest version of TARS and TS3. I'm trying to map my PoV hat + modifiers to transmit. For some reason TARS it doesn't seem to recognise the PoV hat imputs. All other buttons on the joystick work fine. MS SideWinder Precison 2 (yes, I know.... TM Warthog is in my wish list). Any idea of what may it be? The hat works fine both within DCS:WH and in the game controllers control panel. Thanks for this great tool. -
Win a flight in P51D! Just an Idea...

The pilot bailed out successfully IIRC. -

Didn't it go down after a mid air colision with a skyrider? -
It has a place in a modern environment. Just not in modern COMBAT. A whole new set of skills to develop if it's done right.
-
Yes, but people (me inclusive) is struggling to see the relationship between one thing and the other. Shift the interest from combat sim, eastern europe, etc (while keeping it possible) and maybe it will become more palatable for the sceptics. Make it a new thing, not more of the same with a new plane. By the way P-51 rocks!!!
-
humm, not really, I like my stuff working as it should as I take it out the package. I know a lot of people would disagree but IMO modding is patching whatever the developer didn't do right in the first place. Very personal opinion, but honest.

I disengage NWS when the AoA indicator on the left side of the hud goes alive, around 50 kts.
-
Ok DCS, now you have to bundle the P51 with, at least: -Duxford airfield scenery and surroundings. -Airshow and air races themed structures (like an airfied full of public, inflatable pylons, cool paint schemes, pyrotechnics, etc) -Aerobatic competition scoring system. Maybe some of us will forget about blowing up stuff for a while and enjoy other aspects of flying.

Single jettison the litening pod / ALQ-131
Tucano_uy replied to TheRobber's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I thought it was because of intel issues. A captured pod would reveal many tech secrets I suppose. -
also in the quick start missions LSS tracks some stuff. I remember it tracking a SAM (strela?) in one of the easy ones.
-
I would guess that having the speed to break the engagement and reengage from a more favorable position is a huge advantage so the MiG would decide if, when and how to fight.

Thank you all for the answers. Nice one BlueRidge. Good example Nu-NRG.

OK, maybe my wording was wrong. My doubt is not about trim use and effects of increasing or decreasing power. I thought that AP would trim in addition to command the main control surfaces. It doesn't seem reasonable (but maybe that's just the way it is) that the AP would command and steer without trimming. If the case was that the AP does trim, the question was if the trim was reset upon disconnection. thx
-
If I'm not wrong, in the sim when autopilot gets disconnected the warthog reverts to whatever trim setting was applied before engaging the AP. No idea how does it work IRL but when you disconnect AP, shouldn't the aircraft remain trimmed as the autopilot left it? Of course, before engaging the AP the acft should be properly trimmed but as an example, if you trim for take off, take off, level off, engage AP without trimming, speed up, and then disengage AP, the aircraft will take a severe nose up attitude. Shouldn't it keep the trim from the AP and maintain it's level? (It works this way in LOMAC and FC2).

Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Throttle Faulty
Tucano_uy replied to Dodgeza's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi RogueRuner, Where in RSA did you get yours and how much did you pay for it? Afrimart.co.za has it on their web for R5692. I wonder what happens if it gets bricked, who will replace it... So far it is on my wish list. Cheers -
I did see it in FC2. Unfortunately I don't remember what SAM I was fighting against (Strela maybe). In a simple mission I created I remember that I tried to lock it several times and I was always shot down. Just by chance, I shot a maverick towards the general area where the SAM was and the SAM shot at it before shooting at me, second mav destroyed the SAM. I will try to do it again and post a track.
