Is there any way to go on after touching the grass?
Tucano_uy replied to robert123456's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
It certainly would be good if the acft was repositioned over tarmac after repairs. Please ED!!! -
A bit OT: I've been playing around with the AI UH1. Beautiful model, nice real UH1 sound, but I believe that it is way too resistant to to damage. Pilot never gets killed even if the cockpit windows (not front ones, those don't get damaged) are totally pierced by bullets. Also it's a pitty that the 7,62s don't pivot and only shoot forward.

IR pointer stays doesn't follow vehicle when you drive away.

Bump!!! In case it was unnoticed by the devs before. Problem persists in 1.2.2. -
I agree they're fun. It was discussed looong time ago and according to ED the rocket effectiveness is correct. Luckily I've never been anywhere close to a rocket explosion so I have no real life experience, but I still believe they're pretty useless in DCS. We've all seen rocket impact barely a few feet away from infantry and the guy stays alive. I was fooling around with the mission editor the other day and loaded a UH1 with rockets and miniguns and sent it against a bunch of infantry, closely standing together. The effect was that the chopper took the infantrymen one by one with a pair of rockets each, extremely limited area effect. But the topic was about triple JDAMS...

70mm rockets in DCS are as effective as suppositories, they only work if you manage to get them right up the enemies a$$.

BUG - Artillery Fire at point - Radius Zone
Tucano_uy replied to xcom's topic in Mission Editor Issues
I've found that 250 ft radius is a bit small, isn't it? From within the running mission the radius can be increased but for the ME, 250 feet looked a bit restricted to me. -
I was always about to post about this. I understand that that AP munition will ricochet, but shouldn't HE go off on the first impact? A puff of dust at most would be ok for ricocheting AP rounds. Also, a bit off topic but related, I noticed on the new CA 7.62 rounds explode with a big blast and a 4 metre column of smoke. It seems excessive even if those are the tracers breaking up. Is this the way it is supposed to be or maybe should be revised?

I don't know if it was mentioned earlier but I would like to see, in addition to the changelog, the SIZE of the updates. Unfortunately in some parts of the world bandwith is still capped and expensive.

unless the mission is to capture the airfield, put a couple of indestructible, AI only, tanks to protect the apron/FARP. Sorted... Or maybe, a minefield can be simulated with triggers. That would be cool.

What worked for me to improve the stutter in previous versions (A10 stand alone, before World) was to delete the DCS folder in C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\. I noticed that after every crash, the freezing/stutter situation was worse than before until it became unbearable. My theory is something in that folder gets corrupted. Try to move the DCS folder to the desktop (backup), when you launch World a new one will be created. Run the game, adjust your graphic settings and see if it improves and if it does, and you want to (I didn't do it) you could start bringing the folders one by one to recover your stick settings and stuff to try to determine what was producing the stuttering. Next time you just delete that. It definitely worked for me. Worth to give it a try if the game was running ok and performance started to degrade. It takes no time to do it.

After so many years, shouldn't the ME prevent the selection of options that doesn't work?. Every now and then, for years, the question of the bomber groups appears in the forum.

It is intended to be this way. Maybe it will change one day.

Please enlighten us, the ignorants, what does than mean?

Unnecessary installation authentication requirement
Tucano_uy replied to GhostDog's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
So, to install BS2 upgrade into DCS:World, BS1 still needs to be installed in the same PC. Right? Wouldn't be good to provide both BS1+BS2 Upgrade keys while activating BS2 Upgrade in the future to avoid the need to keep BS1? -

From Nate's post, I can see that the sound engine moved a few squares back!!! -
Someone may argue that clusterbombing people is inappropriate for kids. Frikkin sensitive people...
-
Not only that. Imagine the same weapon modelled differently by different developers.... it would be a mess.

I saw an AI P-51 flying normaly and engaging ground targets after loosing the ailerons in both wings. Seemed to roll normaly. -

I believe that the confusion originates because DCS:World was not officially released by itself. It's available in the webpage to be downoaded with the Mustang, so for the not very awake simmer it may seem that it is the same thing and not the core thingy. They also share the same version number (why not naming world 0.xx beta until the release version is out?, then DCS:World 1.0). People that doesn't own any DCS product and are not interested in the P51 might be missing the opportunity to download free DCS:World with the Toad, maybe get hooked and then buy other DCS stuff. Please ED, if a file is a beta, name it beta. And I would suggest to separate the links to download DCS:World and P51. And on the P51 section put a big red sign that reads "Free DCS:World download required" The way this works may be relatively clear for the ones that frequent this forums, but I tried to explain a quite sharp friend how this worked so he gets into the DCS community and it was quite complicated.
