  1. Wow, incredible job! Just in time for the DCS sale tomorrow. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend if you release it!
  2. PeterP, will work on coming up with a graphic showing what I mean; in the meantime, though, another question: Can you point me to where the 100x12 pixel clickable box for each menu item is specified? This mod is not quite working for me, and I think the reason is that I use a 2028x1156 size render area on my lower touchscreen ... I think, for reasons I can't quite articulate, that this means that although my initial calibration point works, as I move further down the menu it becomes harder to click on any given menu item. I think it's because I need to use a clickable-area size of (2028/1920) * 100 by (1156/1080) * 12 pixels for each line of the menu.
  3. PeterP, another fantastic job getting this working in DCS again. I suspect I already know the answer -- it's really difficult -- but I'll ask anyway: Is there any way to move the radio command menu around on the GUI such that it is decoupled from the 'training/mission messages' overlay and the 'ATC to player' overlay? The reason I ask is, I've used your mod here to set up the radio command menu on my lower touchscreen. Problem is, I'd like to use my left hand to select radio commands, but reaching over to the upper right of the screen is not easy. I know I can move the menu around based on the CommandMenu.lua file, but this then causes clipping issues with the 'ATC to player' overlay, which seems to want to stay to the left of the radio command menu. Any suggestions? Ideally I'd like those two menus to swap, i.e. radio commands on the left, 'ATC to player' on the right.
  4. Similar answer to what I said above. I think it IS possible to use SoftTH to span all four, but I think your FPS will take a bigger hit than if you figure out how to keep NS enabled. Sorry I'm not more help with NS, guys, as I haven't used it in years.
  5. It's been a long time since I used Nvidia cards, so I don't know much about NvidiaSurround. Are you saying that 2 of your 3 27" monitors are identical? And you think that if you got a 3rd identical monitor, NS would work even when added the 4th monitor? That doesn't make sense to me .. if all 3 are 1920x1080, I don't understand why the monitor model would be important. Rather, I think what is happening is that Nvidia cards have a very specific way of needing to be set up if you want to run 4 monitors. I don't know the answer, but I bet it has something to do with requiring that 3 of them run through DVI and the 4th thru HDMI, or something like that. I would research that before thinking about buying an identical monitor. Using SoftTH to span the image across all 4 monitors without NS -- I suppose that's possible, but I would imagine your FPS would be a lot lower than if you can figure out how to get NS + 1 enabled again.
  6. I am having the exact same problem as Master_Shake, and similarly have never had a problem with DCS before. I'm also not using any mods at all.
  7. WOW! Nice setup! As a multi-monitor guy myself, I love it. Although your pit takes it to another level. I understand your method of using Helios and then creating buttons for the side monitors, and I also see you prefer not to have to deal with TrackIR panning and touchscreens at the same time; and given the complexity of your setup, you probably thought of this but then decided against it; but at the risk of being accused of spamming the forums :) have you ever thought about using a T-shaped render area that you could then directly interact with, rather than using a static Helios image? This video will give you an idea of how it looks: N8DLgAd8gF4 And I describe how to set it up here. If your main problem is TrackIR/touchscreen, have you considered assigning a HOTAS control to TrackIR Precision Mode, as cichlidfan also mentions? This would let you temporarily stabilize your view when you want to click the touchscreen.
  8. If you haven't heard of it before, SoftTH uses DX9 call interception to enable spanning of a render area across multiple monitors. Rather than using Eyefinity/Nvidia Surround to span your 3 monitors, you could instead try that, as (I think) there are some parameters in there related to counteracting distortion. Aside from that, this issue has been asked about before, and some suggestions have been offered, but I don't think anyone's found a truly perfect way to do it yet.
  9. Also keep in mind that, at least apparently according to Wags' most recent update, the new Su-33 model may be accompanied by carrier ops.
  10. The touchscreen is an Acer T272HL, and is available online at Amazon, Newegg, etc.
  11. If you want to give that 4-monitor setup a go again, you could create a T-shaped setup like I have. I describe how to set it up here. N8DLgAd8gF4
  12. EDIT: SOLD! XFX HD 7970 Core Edition 3GB DDR5 925M 2xmDP HDMI DVI PCI-E Graphics Cards FX797ATNFC - $250 Bought new January 2012, I've never had any problems with this card and it's in perfect condition. I'm selling it for $250 shipped within CONUS only, and I'd prefer Paypal or Amazon payment. My heatware can be seen here.
  13. Sorry, link updated, should work now. I generally get 18-50 FPS, which is good enough for me. And its as good as is possible right now, as there are no faster AMD cards out there yet (my center upper monitor is 3D and only works with AMD, so Nvidia's not an option for me).
  14. You can see some videos of my 4-screen setup here where I'm running 5800*2300 (=13 megapixels) on a single 7970. So yes, its definitely possible.
  15. I finally got a chance to compare 13.8B to 13.6B2, and I found that in a test mission I typically use, 13.8B gets me 22FPS while 13.6B2 gets me 29. So back to 13.6B2 it is.
  16. Ugh ... embarrassing. I set us both up as Su-25 instead of Su-25T. D'oh! Thanks for pointing out the obvious. :)
  17. Yep, hitting Briefing and then Fly. From there he goes to what I think is the F10 screen. It's weird, because although he's selected a plane from the selection screen, and his name shows up under it in-game, he can't actually get in it. Wasn't there some trick regarding setting 'connection speed' in DCS's MP options? We both set it to LAN ... might that have been a problem?
  18. I just tried to host a server, from the non-Steam version of DCS World, and a have a buddy using the Steam version try to connect. While he can get in and can join, he subsequently cannot enter the aircraft (Su-25); his name appears under it, but hitting F1 does nothing, and he isn't in control of it. Any ideas what the problem may be?
  19. chardly38, if you haven't already checked it out, you might be interested in my similar T-shaped setup from the previous page of this thread. With 4 monitors in that configuration, if you can get a touchscreen for the lower monitor, you won't even need Helios anymore; you can have all the cockpit instruments show up on the lower screen, so you can interact with them directly. This also makes everything else on the upper screens bigger, particularly the HUD font, which is a nice bonus. Nothing against Helios -- it's a great product -- but at least for me, the added expense of buying a touchscreen (they're much cheaper these days though, thanks for Windows 8) was worth it to have one coherent cockpit rather than two separate sets of instruments/displays.
  20. If I may make a suggestion: If DCS is the sole justification for this new GPU, forget about 6990/7990/690 etc., as DCS will only use one of the cards. Instead, I would ask about your CPU speed--are you overclocking? If not, you should be! DCS is much less GPU-dependent than most games, and a CPU speed increase can probably net you just as large an FPS increase as a monster GPU. Case in point: I run a 4-screen setup, with a combined resolution of 5900x2200 in DCS; I have two 7970 3GB cards, with DCS obviously only using one of them; and my stock 3.3GHz CPU is overclocked to 4.8GHz. I run most graphic options near max and rarely see FPS dip below 20. The point being: to maximize FPS in DCS, focus on the absolute fastest combination of CPU and single GPU that you can create.
  21. I wrote a full explanation of how I got my 4-screen T-shaped setup working here that you might find useful.
  22. Dachs, I've got a similar setup to PeterP: if press lasts 0.X second or less, it's a left-click; if >0.X second, it's a right-click. Thick8, yes, I believe that is correct, my video card is rendering the entire rectangle, which sounds like a lot but I'm still able to maintain FPS in the 20-50 range even with most graphics options still turned on.
  23. WOW Ricardo, this pit is gorgeous! I've been waiting months for this and was really excited to finally give it a try today. First impression: man, that is one worn pit! Amazing job, really just incredible. Thank you so much for all the time you put into this, it was very much appreciated.
  24. I made this myself last year, when TigersharkBAS put up his excellent series of tutorials on how to make these. I did it mostly just to see if I could, and then used it for a few months before my cockpit setup evolved to use a touchscreen for interacting with the cockpit. Thus I don't really have any need for it anymore. I spent a little over $100 on the parts, but I'm only asking $50, which includes shipping within the US. It works just fine, no problems; the only difference between the 'real' AHCP and this one is that I did not include the lower row of switches (JTRS, CICU, IFFCC).
  25. Yup, definitely pretty excited about this one too, regardless of the cost. Excellent work so far, can't wait to see the finished product!
