  1. @Texac, thanks for the tips. I just visited your screenshot page as well as your youtube channel (now subscribed). You do VERY good work. Everyone should be checking it out. Thanks again for sharing.
  2. I believe you will find that most WWII aircraft are lacking in the Single-Player missions category. With the upcoming Normandy expansion (late May) I expect you will see the number of missions increase exponentially. The 109 is one of my favorite aircraft to just fly around in as it has a true "stick and rudder" type of feeling. For online, I have flew on a few servers celebrating WWII aircraft and all seem to welcome both in-experienced as well as experienced. One chat from you asking for a bit of assistance will be helped right along (that is my bet at least).
  3. Ah, that is a good point on the "you already read what you just posted".... in hindsight.. duh! BTW, I found this post by clicking on "New Posts" and it showed up. So, yeah, I think you guys are onto something.... so smart! Thanks for getting me straightened out there.
  4. My DCS Forum habit is to load up the forums and hit "New Posts" at the top of the page. My understanding is that it would list, across the entire forum, any threads that have new posts ranked in descending chronological order. Being a vain person by nature, whenever I post (which is quite seldom), I always want the satisfaction of hitting the "New Posts" button to see that my important contribution/silly question has been flagged for all those knowledgeable in the ways of DCS to admire, but sadly usually I never see it show up on the first page :(. Am I understanding this functionality incorrectly? Are there super-secret rules? Do I need reputation to rate making the home page? Any insight to the above is much appreciated, although I don't expect to see this thread on the home page! ~Thump.
  5. Thanks Raven, definitely the ones that are worked on after the screenshot are awesome, but I was looking making the source screenshot the best it could be. Well, I kept digging and finally found my answer, it was on the ED SIMS Screenshot Thread! Title says no discussion, but a few broke the rules enough to drop the nugget I was looking for. The answer can be found here but in short there is an screenshotQuality variable you can play with. If you goto update the graphics file you will see there is a readme that informs you to now update the autoexec.cfg found in your SavedGames folder
  6. After viewing some of the awesome screenshots posted here I realize I am not getting the highest quality screenshots I should be getting. I know I have seen a post long ago about some settings for taking screenshots in the highest quality, but I have searched and can not find it again. Seems like you could update a config file somewhere to help with this. Can anyone please lend me a helping hand. -Thump
  7. To me that sounds like a network issue. Have you checked the ping times for the servers you are connecting to? Lower is better. Another idea, if you open a command window on your PC you can type "ping <IP Address Here> -t" and it will continually ping that address. I just tried that with one of the multiplayer server addresses in DCS but it would not respond but there is probably a way to do that (sorry just not sure what is stopping it right now). Just to test things on your end (your ISP) you could try the above command with any URL. In the past I would continually ping abc.com "ping abc.com -t" while playing to find packets dropped by my ISP. If you have experienced this problem on different multiplayer servers, then might be something with your ISP and the suggestion above might help to prove/show that to you and something to goto your ISP with.
  8. I understand getting locked up time to time from friendlies. My only complaint is the continuous lock. I can't complain too much as if I just got on TS, I could then hit up the person that might be locking me. I flying time is fairly short so I forgo TS a lot :( so in the end, guess I can't complain.
  9. Yeah, I took drastic measures, but not after trying to squeeze those tabs. Not sure what I was doing incorrectly. @Pikey, Well, if it works in windows then it isn't the switch and I see that as good news. Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions for getting it to behave in DCS, sorry. Again, good luck!
  10. I hope your paddle switch is ok, but the paddle switch my joystick died. I was pretty rough on it trying to learn to fly the Blackshark (trim). Anyway, you can check in the controller setup in windows to verify if your switch works or not (sounds like yours might be broke in the open/off position). I found this thread useful: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137291 I posted in that thread on how to open up the pushbutton housing, but never got a reply. I ended up dremeling it apart and replacing the internal surface mounted switch and gluing it back together. My switch is once again working fine. Good luck!
  11. Good video, I appreciated the tips and tricks. I need to practice to be as smooth as you when I fly the Mi-8!
  12. With the sale going on now, I was considering the 21, but having read this thread and other threads similar to this one... I think I will pass. I am a bit disappointed, but at least I am not disappointed in owning the module and also out the cash for this module.
  13. please allow me one bump to see if anyone has any experience disassembling the pushbuttons I noted in my above post. I am really eager to get my warthog back to 100%!
  14. I have experienced a pushbutton failure on my paddle switch. I disassembled the joystick and got the pushbutton out, but I could not get the pushbutton switch apart. I see tabs that look like I should be able to depress but they don't move at all when pressed on. I even deformed the plastic abit on the tabs I was pressing so hard. Is there a trick or am I doing it wrong? Anyone who has disassebled one of the Thrustmaster Warthog pushbuttons before mind giving me some advice please. thanks
  15. I am new to this server and also enjoying it. I too logged into TS to find I was the only one there. Glad to hear this appears to be only temporary! See ya in the sky.
  16. "eh, and I forgot my wheels".... best line ever. 2nd video... 1:53:10. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you guys have some fun.
  17. I made some progress in getting USB tethering working with my iPhone, but Trinus refused to work with it. The good news is that Moonlight appears to be also working over the USB line line now as can be seen when viewing network traffic (when streaming it all goes over the Apple network that is created when I tether my phone and turn on personal hotspot), so there is no lockups/disconnects anymore. All in all I am VERY impressed with what you can do on the cheap here. Big shout out to sniperwolfpk5 for starting this thread so long ago (I missed it originally). If anyone has questions on how to get moonlight working over usb hit me up, happy to help!
  18. I am trying to get the iPhone working with this setup. I have it working using moonlight with wifi, but it is struggling with bandwidth (i.e. lockup, eventual disconnect). I have trinus installed on pc/iphone and got it to connect via wifi although I had to enter a IP as it wouldn't auto-detect. My real interest is getting this to work over USB to remove the bandwidth issue, but I can't seem to get Trinus to find the phone when it is connected to the PC via USB. Anyone having done this before having any tips? I do not have any apple software on my PC so think maybe I am missing something applish. Any help is much appreciated.
  19. Dude's got skills! Loved the video... thanks for sharing.
  20. Same here, even did the looping missions a couple times hoping to break something loose, but no joy. I chalked it up to beta/content WIP. It strikes me as funny to think about the flight sim developer reading a post like this, seeing people like us "chasing our tail" when they know why it isn't working. Not mad at all, just found it funny to think about. Good luck and post if you find different please
  21. Very Impressive! How do you obtain some of those views? I am truly jealous. GREAT JOB
  22. No crashes for me on 'A-10s and F-16s' mission. I was trying to do all the missions on the day specified in the campaign, but alas, Hammerfall 3 mission ruined that :). 3rd time is a charm! Great campaign, thank you for your hard work. As soon as I am finished I am going to dig into how you built the missions (if that is even possible with campaigns) to help me with my own mission building. I just love how you have the wingman on the 1st mission flying close formation. Thank you again!
  23. I too have that problem with the HUD. I look forward to better answers, but in the meantime some.times it helps to change the HUD from day to night. The switch is located on the front, lower left. If I remember correctly it is right below the arming switches.
  24. Good flying.... when you say sling load, you really mean it! Your load was really moving as you approached/entered the bridge span. I, myself, can neither hover much less pick up a load, so I am impressed! Thanks for sharing.
